Sadly… I thought this place was pretty darn overrated. Granted we didn’t go to the original while we were down in New Orleans, but we made a point to stop at one of them while we were there. Yeah, overrated. The place wasn’t that clean but it was really busy, so I guess with that much powdered sugar everywhere it’s hard to keep clean? The beignets were not the best we had while we were visiting. I mean they were fine, but they didn’t knock my socks off. The hubby got coffee, which didn’t even seem to be freshly brewed but out of a machine. All in all a kind of disappointing experience.

If you know me, you know how much I LOVE beignets! Stopped at this location of Café de Monde and was thoroughly satisfied. They made our beignets fresh for us and just the way we liked. Love it! Also super friendly :-)

We stopped on Covington on our way to Gulf Shores specifically for beignets from Café Du Monde. The beignets were good but the service was not. Slow, inattentive and lacking. If it wasn’t for the good beignets, we would skip this location.

Only reason it didn’t get one star is because the Beignets and Coffee are excellent. The reason it should’ve only received one star is because customer service is everything in a business and this place didn’t have any what so ever. Needs a new manager cause she was awful. Some of the other female employees were nice though.

Love café du monde! Great place to bring out-of-town guests. Usually live music and real close to jackson square!

As always the beignets are delicious. But the service left much to be desired on our visit. We had a couple of questions about the menu which seemed to inconvenience the girl behind the counter. Our barista was visibly annoyed, didn’t make eye contact, and slammed plates down. For the record, there were only two other parties dining in and no one in line behind us, so I don’t really feel like the flippancy and shortness of her communication was warranted. As soon as we walked away, she started loudly arguing with another staff member about their busier morning. I am sorry if the staff were stressed, but as a result we felt unwelcome. Leaving three stars for the food quality and cleanliness.

Say beignet 10X fast with a French accent and you may begin to understand how awesomely delicious(and hard to pronounce quickly) these pastries are. Café Du Monde is that place that makes them best. — Friendly service — Small restaurant, not«famous» café location — Automatic door for outside seating — Leave tray at table when finished, no trash cans — Beignets are delicious and mix is available — OJ is normal, not Florida oranges? Beignets are these fantastic fried fritters(sometimes filled with fruit) served as a square piece of dough and covered with powdered sugar. Three is a lucky number of mine and they only come in servings of three so you know it’s worthwhile. I stopped by with some friends for a snack and OJ after hearing so much about these little treats and were not let down. When we walked in we were immediately confused by an opening door that lead to the outside seating. I was convinced it was a sign to sit outside while a friend suggested a gust of wind that magically formed from the fantastic magic used to create the beignets must have opened it. Our more reasonable friend noticed the«automatic door» sign and we moved over to the register to avoid looking more like tourists. We sat down with our order and chomped away. It was around $ 17 for three OJ’s and two orders(6 total pieces) of beignets. Be careful when eating these because if you happen to laugh mid-bite you could like like you found your way inbetween a Bobby & Whitney fight. Yes, powder all over your clothes, face, hands and table. I highly recommend eating a beignet at Café Du Monde(pronounced like the English word ‘moaned’) at the location near the French Quarter as it is larger and has more variety in the food category. It’s been around since 1862 and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
