Came to Mardi Gras 2015 and didn’t get a chance to have dinner because of a bad experience that was quickly handled and rectified. So this year Mardi Gras 2016 i was able to not only come back and try the food, service and ambiance of this place. but i brought a few more people with me that also loved the visit and we made good use of the management’s gift card! This spot is definitely on our food list of to do for next year! Our server was great and earned her tip. though not from being overworked(we not that kind of diners) but from having great hospitality! I am sorry i cant remember her name and not because i didn’t use it. but it was Mardi Gras.LOL. I had the Steak Labouchere. absolutely loved it. and we didn’t even know there was a Copeland’s close to our hotel in Mandeville. we were going to drive back to Slidell/Nola area to use the gift card and try their service. but it worked out just as well and we were satisfied! We sampled each others plates and had appetizers so we all got a good taste of the menu listings. our table had steak, shrimp and crab dishes. We drove back by on the way back to Indiana and got slices of cheesecakes for the road!.. why not right?!

It’s a good place… But in all honesty never get the steaks… They microwave all their steaks… Nasty nasty nasty…

A lot of friends knock Copeland’s because it is a chain. I’ve been a regular for decades. It rivals Ruth’s Chris Steak house for Filet Mignon at 75% of the cost. .served on a sizzling platter. Occasionally the service can be spotty but the entire menu …if you were born with a NOLA palette like me. …absolutely delicious. Check it out.

This is the second time I’ve been waiting for my food at this Copeland’s for over an hour. So not only did I Wait an hour for our food to reach our table only to be given a piece of chicken smaller than something I would give my 10-month-old. No thanks Copeland’

I did not have a great experience at this Copeland’s. My appetizer that I ordered as my meal never came out. Over 45 mins later and once the company I was with were already finished with their meals, I simply requested that when they decided to finish cooking my appetizer to please just bring it out in a to go box because everyone was ready to leave. I was then charged for the food that I never got until we were standing from the table ready to leave. I paid but asked if the manager was aware how long it took for the food to come out to our table. Our waiter said yes the manager was told but nothing could be done and did not come speak to our table. Then, I was given the incorrect change for my meal I did not get to eat. After walking out of the restaurant, one of my friends realized she was never brought the two desserts she ordered to go and she had already paid! Needless to say it was a very long and frustrating dining experience.

Came here for happy hour on accident. I don’t live in the area or anywhere close and was recommended to come here. The food was delicious. I wish I could eat more because I could not even come close to finishing my plate. Happy hour had great wine deals, which I love my wine. The best part of all was my server Sarah S, she was attentive, gave me thoughtful recommendations without being too over bearing. Thanks for a great meal!

Staying at a nearby hotel and gave Copelands a try. I ordered online with ease. They offer curbside pickup as well. Really nice restaurant that offers bar seating and casual dinning. They are also kid friendly. Food is decent. The gumbo was very rich in flavor, almost too salty. I also had the crab cake and shrimp Alfredo. I thought the dish was over salted as well. It was good just too much for me. You can def share this plate with someone else.

After a 10 year hiatus, my in-laws suggested we give Copeland’s another try. I guess we didn’t wait long enough to see this place improve. Our entrees arrived before the appetizers and salads and the waitress chastised us for canceling the apps. The food we received was closer to 2 stars but the noticeable indifference and poor attitude of the server warrants a single star.

I know this is a chain and I typically stick with locals but my local friends wanted to go and it was open on monday, rare in the area. The wine list was grocery store level but everything else was great. Service was exceptional and the atmosphere was solid. I had the Veal Copeland; the veal was just okay but the sausage pasta side was stole the show. The pasta had a noticeable heat and rich flavor even though it was light on the sausage. I grew up with a Copeland’s in Jacksonville, FL and never dined there, that will change.

We stopped here for lunch on the way to the Abita brewery. We did not have the disappointing experience with the service that many others mentioned. Our server was attentive and we got our drinks quickly. Our appetizers were out within minutes of being ordered, as well. We started with a cup of the gumbo and a cup of the corn and crabmeat bisque. The gumbo was fairly average but the bisque was to die for. I deeply regretted only getting a cup and not the bowl. My mom ordered the spinach artichoke dip with fried Bow tie pasta. It looked a lot better than it tasted. The dip had an overpowering taste of lemon in it that I just couldn’t get over and there were way too many bow ties. We received our entrees very quickly. My mom got the shrimp and crab cake pasta. It was OK. The crab cakes were good but the shrimp was undercooked and the sauce had a strange taste. My boyfriend and I shared the crabmeat ravioli which was good, a little fishy, but good. We also shared the crawfish cheese fries which looked awesome in the picture on the menu but were a disappointment in person. The sauce was very strange and it just wasn’t a pleasant dish. We left almost all of it on the table. The meal came with buttered biscuits that were flaky and melt in your mouth. The experience definitely had its ups and downs.

An experience worth trying! The food is incredible and so well seasoned. They have a multitude of choices, so no one will leave hungry. Delicious all the way !

Dinner for two last night at around 7:30. We were seated promptly & placed drink orders. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer, which was GREAT. The little fried bow tie pastas that were used for dipping were really good. I ordered the stuffed shrimp & sweet potato fries, my boyfriend ordered the grilled tomato basil chicken with angel hair pasta. He loved his, had some of it left for a to go box. Mine was ok, I’ve had better stuffed shrimp at another restaurant close by. Overall the meal was very good, no complaints. Next time I’ll get my usual, the Veal Copeland which is absolutely delicious.

It’s either hit or miss here! Sadly enough it all depends on your waiter. I’ve eaten here so many times it’s ridiculous. Of course the food and menus changed after al passed which sucked at first. But even if you go for just the drinks and spinach dip its worth it. I can honestly say I have never ordered something and disliked it. Sometimes some of the pasta dishes need an extra side of sauce because they don’t put enough but all ya gotta do is ask. Like I said food is good, drinks are good, everything else is up to the waiter.

Ordered take out. Food was on time, hot and delicious. Only complaint is they seemed understaffed and it was a slow Monday night. I ordered the steak tasting plate and the crab cake appetizer. Both were prepared perfectly and tasted delicious!

Is there a way to give negative stars? Terrible. It’s not worth wasting a lot of time on a review for this type of place. Terrible service. Items missing from order. The missing items were dropped off(forced actually– after explaining that the missing items were no longer wanted) after check was paid. I asked for water 3 times and finally gave up. Seriously, a joke. Service was terrible, its one thing to receive terrible service from a friendly server, however, this person was not happy to be at work, no smiles, mad at the world, service. Funny thing is I knew what to expect coming here, unfortunately it was a visiting friend out of towns requests. Never. Again.

Nearly a decade ago before I started traveling more than 150,000 miles a year for work, I stumbled upon this Copeland’s and thought I’d found the bomb local Southern/Cajun restaurant. A buddy and I came here and loved it. The service was great. The food was good. And, the atmosphere was fair, too. Reality set in a few days later when the next town had a Copeland’s, too. I quickly learned this is a medium size chain, but to this day I haven’t been disappointed when I stop by for lunch or dinner at this location when driving through Covington. For those who are blasting the service I’m fortunate to not have been down that road here. Service has always been at par for me, which I’m thankful for. We’ve always been treated well from the host staff to our waiters. When at Copeland’s I’ve always ordered the blackened redfish, and while it’s been terrible at other locations in this chain, I’ve never had an issue here. It’s always been juicy, flavorful and tasted fresh and the mashed sweet potatoes and vegetable medley compliment it well. Stick with this dish and you can’t go wrong here. And, at $ 24,95, I know many believe it’s pricey, but you get what you pay for. They give you a slab of fish, not a small fillet.

Two words. Slow Service. It looks like they really need some help in the kitchen. First, I don’t really care for the atmosphere of this place. It’s dark and not very welcomey. All of the staff seem to be extremely serious. I don’t think I even saw a smile on anybody’s face. I ordered the crab cakes and shrimp alfredo. I was pretty hungry to begin with so I wasn’t pleased when it took over 30 minutes to get my food. The alfredo was ok. I’ve had better at the Olive Garden and the crab cakes were overdone. The biscuits were fantastic. Of course for desert you have to have the cheesecake which I did and it was pretty good. Overall I don’t think the meal was worth the money. I’ve had better. I will say our waiter was good though. He was on top of the drink refills and checking on us, just not too friendly or cheerful. I’ll be trying them again and we’ll see how it goes next time.
