All four orders of eggs Benedict overcooked. Not bad if you like boiled eggs. Very stingy with hollandaise sauce.

First time here and I loved it Had a delicious sirloin burger The owner even waited on us. Small and quaint atmosphere with an awesome menu. Can’t wait to try something else next time. Finished lunch with a banana split for desert and OMG it was the bomb It’s a must try

Very happy with my recent visit. The food was excellent. There was a special black drum this past weekend that my date ordered… not many things make me regret ordering a steak, but that did. The wine that they carry were many of my favorites and the prices were excellent. The prices by the glass seemed slightly higher in comparison to bottle prices(I.e. Higher glass prices and lower bottle prices), but if you order a glass, you’ll see why. The typical pour is about 5 – 6 oz, and I would guess they are around 10oz pours at Mac’s. Just a nice little surprise when your glass comes ha ha. Service was on par and had no complaints. Will definitely go back!

Awesome restaurant in the heart of downtown Covington. Has a really great patio for eating outside day/night/brunch. Awesome weekend brunch menu! Very friendly bartenders and staff. Really great steakhouse and various local Louisiana food at a very affordable price! Hard to beat their prices on excellent filet mignon and various seafood dishes. They also have very reasonably priced liquor and wine menu. Overall best bang for your buck in Covington!

The reason we drove from Kenner to downtown Covington was simply because I saw a picture someone tagged them in on Instagram. I am the perfect example of how social media can provide a return on investment. They gained a $ 200 sale just off of one instagram post. When I saw the picture of the food, I thought it was sent down from heaven and made just for me. It had all of my favorite things on one plate. Parmesan risotto, grilled asparagus topped with filet and truffle butter then topped with a lobster tail. Magnificent. My birthday happened to be approaching so what better time than to make the trek and see what Mac’s had to offer. It ended up being a quaint little house converted to a restaurant or so it seemed. Loved the single rose on each table. The service was good, not fine dining caliber but still good enough. The food didnt live up to our expectations though. We were told the corkage fee was $ 10 when we made the reservation but it ended up being $ 15 on the bill. No big deal just an FYI. I ordered the aforementioned dish($ 40) and while it was good, my plate barely had any risotto and the lobster tail was grilled which always tends to dry out the meat. We also ordered the duck salad which was excellent but my greek salad was dry. The gumbo was good but my crab and corn bisque was a little too tangy for my taste. The mac and cheese was good as well. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate toffee torte and crème brûlée. The description of the choc dessert sounded amazing but the crème brûlée was actually the best I have ever had and its my usual go– to dessert choice. So overall we had a nice time but each course was a little disappointing.

Fancy restaurant in the downtown Covington area. I came in for dinner and ordered the stuffed gulf fish. The fish of the day happened to be grouper. The fish was stuffed with crabmeat and served over two fried green tomato and a bed of spinach.

The food is always wonderful. I love Mac’s steak sandwich with sweet potato fries and the pecan smoked chicken salad wrap is to die for. My favorite spot is on the deck, such a nice atmosphere. Oh, and don’t forget brunch. Everything on the brunch menu is delicious.

This place is absolutely amazing. Got the firecracker oysters and the filet — both delicious. The best part was the praline crunch for dessert, probably the best dessert I have ever eaten. Will definitely be back.

Love the firecracker oysters and the bisque. Fries and burgers are really good too. Don’t come here for a light bite, but if you want to be filled up with delicious food that has a familiar and flavorful Louisiana taste, this is a good spot for lunch or dinner.

Do not walk, RUN to Mac’s on Boston Street! I could eat here every meal, everyday. * Every single dish is overwhelmingly delectable each time we eat there. No fail. * I also am consistently impressed and delighted with the staff. I even adore the lighting and the damn ambiance! I keep trying to find something to point out for improvement but I just can’t. * The owner has personally come to our table and sat down to chat and bring us some of his favorite wine, even though we were already keeping everyone there well past closing time. Instead of rushing us or ignoring us, the staff treated us like family and made sure we ate and drank even more. * Hemingway’s love of food and wine and his gluttonous appetite for constant satisfaction could only be sated at a place like Mac’s on Boston Street. I may be strolling down grandiose lane at this point, but it’s well deserved. * Specific dishes that stand out for me are: –Firecracker Oysters(delicately battered. Barely battered. Perfectly prepared so that it’s like eating warm but fresh oysters with just so much flavorful crunch.) –Pecan Chicken.(Oh god it’s so good and the sauce is like essence of smoky pecan and the grits are a creamy cheesy {but not too heavy}representation of heaven. Yea, you should get it.) –Any beef there. Tournedos of Beef and the NY Strip.(Equally perfect and so full of balanced flavor and juiciness that each bite quivers with freshness and makes you sound like an idiot as you repeat the same impressed and delighted comments with each bite) –Grilled Asparagus(they have awesome asparagus too! Don’t skip it!) –Crab and Corn Bisque(filling, flavorful, creamy, textured, layered, GOOOOOOD) –Praline Crunch(I am not normally too keen on sugar or desserts in general but that shit was out of this world! It’s like chocolate mousse inside a graham cracker crust covered in a layer of dark chocolate then topped with nuts and there’s caramel in there somewhere too. It took me 24 hours to finish the leftovers but it got done!) –Duck(perfect cuts of perfectly cooked duck that disappears like melting sugar in your mouth. Oh man that was good.) See the photos and the video. Then go eat there. * By the way, I’m not an employee or family member or even a friend of a friend. I’m not getting paid for any of this. I really just like this restaurant that much. Enjoy! You’re likely to see me there ;)

This is one of those outstanding restaurant finds that you want to keep to yourself but are compelled to share. We loved our experience dining here from start to finish and strongly recommend this place to all that are fortunate to be in our lovely downtown Covington. The restaurant is a small but beautifully decorated old house that is located in an odd spot off of Boston, right on the street. There is parking in the back. It also has a pretty little deck you can dine on. I loved it the second we walked in, with it’s ambient lighting, the hardwood floors, and the white tablecloths, with real roses on the table. The room just glowed. Sinatra playing low in the background. We dined on a Thursday night so we had the place to ourselves mostly. Very nice. Mac, the owner, was there and it would have been nice for him to stop by our table to say hello but he didn’t. That’s okay, he more than made up for it when we inquired about the Muscato and he said if we couldn’t find it locally, he would be more than happy to help us find it. Our waitress was Peggy. She was attentive, informative, fun and wonderful. We started with Muscato(the best I have ever had, the brand was Bera) and a Cabernet to go with our delicious firecracker oysters and crabcake appetizers. These are single serve sized appetizers so order your own with no anticipation of sharing. The oysters were fantastic, lightly fried served with a delicious spicy salsa of corn, mango and some type of hot pepper. The two crabcakes were very small but good. My boyfriend ordered Shrimp Scampi for dinner, which he absolutely loved. He said the pasta tasted so fresh. I ordered the Filet Mignon, which was about 8oz of fabulousness, perfectly seasoned and cooked medium. It came served over some type of scalloped cheese potato casserole and some grilled asparagus. The potatoes were not bad but nothing I care to eat again, they had a burnt taste to them and the asparagus, bless it’s heart, just got lost somewhere on the plate. It was good when I found it. The filet however was just so delicious that chinese checkers could have been on the plate and it wouldn’t have mattered. We had the Key Lime Crepes and Soft Praline Crunch for dessert. Both fantastic. The crepes were perfect and the filling was deliciously lime, tart and sweet. So so good and so different. The Soft Praline Crunch was a disk of death by chocolate. Rich, decadent, everything a chocolate lover craves. Chocolate mousse filling, topped with chocolate ganash and praline crunch. Perfection. I rarely stray from vanilla bean crème brûlée for dessert when it is on a menu, and it was but, in this case, I am glad I did. This is THE perfect date night, romantic, special occasion, ladies night restaurant, serving great food, wine and dessert. It is pricey. For two of us, we had two appetizers, three glasses of wine, two entrees and two desserts, we spent $ 148 not including tip. It was well worth it. This is our new favorite place on the Northshore and we will return.

Well-executed American cuisine in a cozy, romantic atmosphere. Mac’s is definitely a date-night, nowhere-to-be, savor-your-food place — wish I had known that when I went with a co-worker…and had a timeline. With a nice breeze in the bumper seasons(y’all know), the patio is pleasant and casual. Out on the patio, the service is definitely more laid-back, almost French in the neglect. Oh well, it is Louisiana after all. As far as food goes, the Linda’s Louisiana Cobb Salad hit it all right — crisp greens and cucumber, rich avocado and egg, off-the-boat crab and shrimp. My poor co-worker, with his dietary restrictions, had the filet mignon, but nixed the potatoes didn’t get any additional asparagus to balance it out. Instead, the steak looked rather sad perched on four skinny spears.

Really more of a 3.5 — I have come here twice now for dinner on business trips. The food and atmosphere are excellent! Great cocktails and beer selection and reasonable prices. Very nice place for dinner. The dessert options were sooo good! Unfortunately both my visits, with different servers, the service was lacking. Our servers were very polite, but my water glass was constantly left empty even after reminders. Our plates were empty and we had to ask for the check/dessert menu. Expected better service.

I went there to get some sandwich they are supposed to be famous for which is their steak sandwich. I ordered it to go and when I got home and opened the box I felt like going back there to curse them out, but didn’t. They literally sold me a 3 inch sandwich for $ 12. This place is a rip off and needs to come down from their high horse and stop screwing people over.

Awesome awesome restaurant with unbelievable true southern food with a flair. Service was some of the best I’ve had and the drum fish over fried green tomatoes is to die for. The gumbo is super delicious and we had the pulled pork over polenta to start with which was beautifully done. If you have one choice to eat in Covington it’s got to be macs. No questions asked… ever,
