The anchor restaurant of the Mainstrasse, this place has been providing great food and live jazz for over thirty years. Never a cover and a solid rotation of Cincinnati’s best musicians. I’ve never experienced a restaurant whose food never grows old for me. After over thirty years, I still love this place.

A must visit if you are in Covington and love Cajun food!!! I have had many enjoyable meals here and have never been disappointed. There are so many great choices on the menu but you can never go wrong with the Etoufee or the Jambalaya!!! If you are a meat lover like I am, the Dee’s Filet is amazing and comes cooked exactly as you order with a shrimp cream sauce — it is a wow!!! One other amazing entrée is the ravioli with red sauce. yum!!! I think I am safe saying that everything on the menu is great so order with your eyes and do ask the really helpful staff if you have any questions — they are very helpful and it is service with a smile. Service is perfect. The staff is well seasoned and very professional but personable as well. This place is perfect a group gathering or catering as well. There is frequent live entertainment which is very good and adds to an already great ambiance. The place is very cozy and refined. really great place for a meal. I can’t say enough good things about this place. A true diamond is the ruff and well worth your time and palette.

This restaurant is like an old friend. I have been coming here since they opened almost 30 years ago and I’m sure I’ll be coming here for another 30. While the menu hasn’t changed much in all that time they offer nightly specials which are always executed perfectly.

Best restaurant in the Cincinnati area! The Ricardo’s ravioli is amazing and Ron makes the best manhattans!!!

Damn good food, relatively reasonable prices. But frankly our server, Tracy, and servers assistant, Blake, were the factors that raised this from a 4 to a 5

Loved the daily special: chicken, portable and fettuccine alfredo. Large enough to share, better to take home leftovers!

So I have now tried this place a couple of times and it’s just not good. It’s not that it is awful, well, some of it is but that the place is so overated. I had the beef tornadeus. Meat good but sauce was lacking salt and flavor. We had a bag of salad for $ 4.50…ridiculous. The ravioli was decent, probably the best item of the night, but still fishy. There are so many great restaurants in the tri-state and this is one you should skip.

Great food, jazz band on Sunday night. A little loud for size of restaurant. We had calamari, portobello mushroom appetizer. Shrimp creole, Jambalaya and bread pudding. All great and served hot !!

The interior is fairly shabby. The crawfish étouffée contained the tiniest crawfish I’ve ever seen and the sauce was a thin yellow-orange oily slurry — nothing like a proper étouffée sauce. The tomatoes in the salad were hard, like hothouse tomatoes. On the plus side, the service was great, probably because the place was nearly empty at 7 p.m. Bottom line: avoid it.

I wouldn’t call the atmosphere intimate or cozy. Supposedly a «fancier» sort of a restaurant, but it had more of a roadhouse kind of feel! It had a stage and live jazz music which was actually very cool! I was on company expense account and with a group of colleagues so I didn’t pay much attention to the prices! The food, on the other hand, was delicious! We ordered several appetizers including Carpaccio, Ricardo’s Ravioli(so good!!), shrimp cocktail, Calamari, and fried oysters. For dinner, I had the 8oz filet mignon served with baked potato and house salad. They kept the steak simple which I prefer! I don’t like a whole bunch of different seasoning and sides to go with my steak — it ruins the natural flavor of the meat! The meat was perfectly grilled — slightly charred exterior and juicy pink inside! After dinner, if you’re a shutterbug ilke me, definitely bring your camera because the area is very colonial with brick tract housing — lots of character and I came home with some pretty stunning images of Covington! This place is highly recommended by the locals, and I definitely saw the potential and the charm, so you have to check it out if you’re in the area.

I’ve eaten here for many years and it’s always consistently good. This was the case last night. Started off with the Barbecued shrimp. My favorite on the menu. Then order the crawfish Ettoufee. The Ettoufee was good however tasted too fishy for my taste. My wife ordered the shrimp creole. The creole was really good and spicy. Little too spicy for my wife but not for me. The waiter did suggest ordering it with a milder level of spice which my wife did not do. Lesson learned. All in all the dinner was good. My big issue is the value /price. The Ettoufee was $ 24.00 and I think the creole was close to that as well. The meals do not come with a salad or sides which I think for the price they should. Thus is why I’m giving it just 3 stars.

Still my favorite place for Cajun food. The atmosphere is intimate and the décor cozy, almost seedy in a gin joint kind of way, but comfortable and clean. The file gumbo has a perfect spice level and is very hearty. Ricardo’s ravioli is spicy cheesy deliciousness. The étouffée is our favorite with a side of red beans and rice. Both very very good. I’ve never had bad service down here so no complaints. In fact most are older and more experienced and very knowledgeable. Only squabble is that they don’t carry Sam Adams, which is my favorite beer. They do have an excellent cocktail bar though so order whatever you want hard liquor wise.

My husband and I came her Monday for our first married date night! What a score! We didn’t know that Monday’s are half price wine and apps… SCORE! Definitely come on Monday! We each had an entrée item in the half portion, me the Jambalaya, and my Hubs the crayfish étouffée, both delicious and extremely filling! I would only recommend the full size portions if you plan to split. The vibe here is great! it’s down in Covington so it’s got a sort of old southern charm to the hood, which I love, and houses a NOLA themed restaurant very well! It’s upscale, but still very casual, it’s great for a group or a date! ! ! I highly recommend this place! :)

Really it was about a 2.5. The meal started off strong with some amazing fried ravioli topped with crawfish. This dish was 5 stars all the way. I did think the price was a bit steep at $ 17 but I would get that as an entrée and be satisfied. The creamy jalapeño cheese filling was perfect with the crisp outer shell and the sauce was amazing. Everything else was pretty underwhelming. The calamari was ok. The bread was good but would have preferred a crusty french for the sauces. The gumbo was super spicy without the flavor to support it. We shared a full of the Jambalaya and the Crawfish Ettoufee for 4 and it was more than enough food. The crawfish fish was very runny but had good flavor. The jambalaya was good just not amazing. We shared a bread pudding for the table. It was just ok. The ambiance was nice but an odd mix casual, fancy, and romantic. The love music is quite loud so it is hard to have a quiet conversation. Might be back for the ravioli but not for dinner.

Came here with a group, a little late on a weeknight. Service was excellent, maybe a little slow at first, but I think he was feeling us out. After that, he was prompt, never overbearing. Food was down home, well cooked, and good. As noted elsewhere, the ravioli appetizer is amazing, definitely try that. I had the shrimp and grits and a po boy, both were good comfort food meals — the grits were a step up, and great. Prices are a little on the high side, but seems like they have some decent specials that can be had. Atmosphere was great — large restaurant that seemed small. Bar was really cool — would love to come again and sit there, and enjoy the live music that apparently plays often. Good spot for dates, pretty great spot for a group — overall an enjoyable experience.

I think I’ve found my new favorite little spot in lovely Covington. Seriously! We went on a Weds night so there was no live music but they did have ½ Dee’s diner’s specials(aka the sandwiches) and happy hour deals. Live music starts on Thursday. The ambiance is amazing, a hidden gem in the middle of Covington. We tried the Riccardo’s ravioli based on other reviews and OMG if I could bottle that sauce up and dip it with everything, I would. I tried the gumbo, it was alright – nothing to write home about and the blackened tomato salad because I’d never heard of such and thing and it was delicious! Not a hearty leafy green salad, but thick slices of blackened juicy tomato topped with dressing, bacon and bleu cheese. Bf got the shrimp po boy which didn’t look too heavily battered and fried with Cajun fries. As people mentioned in other reviews, it is a little on the pricier side, but you can deter that by going during one of their specials. Cannot wait to go back. I might be obsessed.
