Covington’s best steakhouse! Steaks come out on a sizzling plate with butter. Seasonal seafood and specials throughout the year. All of the appetizers are incredible. Get the trio of you can’t decide. The Bone in filet mignon hard to beat. Rack of Lamb and quail combo. Trout almondine. Great drinks and very reasonably priced drinks and wine. Great atmosphere, can also eat at the bar or the outdoor patio.

All I can say is wow! The Petite Filet was excellent! Imaging taking a bite of your steak, and closing your eyes, tilting your head back and enjoying every bite. That’s how my experience was :) I had the baked macaroni as my side and it was delicious as well. We also had crab cakes as an appetizer and they also delish! I would highly recommend getting a filet here… Highly recommend!

We had many great Covington and Mandeville dining choices for a Valentines celebration, and decided to try Pat Gallagher’s for the first time. Wow, it was terrific. I had the crab cakes, gumbo and Pompano/lump crab meat entrée which were each perfect. Louis, our server, was attentive, knowledgeable, courteous and professional. The whole team did an outstanding job. Gallagher’s leads my most preferred dining list from now on.

The food was great, the service was TERRIBLE! Had dinner here with 2 friends on a Saturday night. I made reservations weeks in advance for 7:15. We arrive on time and the table is not ready. We are offered to wait at the bar or at the outdoor patio. We head over to the bar, and everyone else must have been waiting for their table too, because there was no where to stand or sit. After standing around for awhile, we’re finally able to snag one barstool. The bartender arrives and I ask for a drink menu. He rudely replies, «we don’t have that» When upon looking down the bar, I clearly see a drink menu sitting there. I point and ask«what is that?» and he says«oh a wine list» Ok so my bad for using the term drink menu instead of wine list? I think he could’ve understood what I meant. After waiting 20 – 25 minutes for our table, we are finally seated. The waiter arrives promptly and is all business… no niceties, no personality, no welcome, just«do you want to order appetizers?» We order the calamari and crab cake. Both were excellent. After a long wait, the waiter finally arrives to take our order. During this time, the wait staff was super slow with refilling water and clearing away empty plates. One girl looked like she would rather be anywhere else than where she was. No friendly service from her at all. At one point, she cleared away our calamari with food still on the plate… which we were still eating! The food was cleared and gone before we even realized what happened… from there we waited 45 – 55 minutes for our entrees to arrive. The waiter did apologize for this by telling me, «you ate that salad faster than i thought you would»…so the entrees are slow in coming out because I ate my salad too fast??? We had all ordered a fish entrée… maybe I would’ve understood the wait if we had all ordered steaks well done… but we hadn’t. Finally the entrees arrive. I ordered the fish almondine and it was excellent. Perfectly cooked and tasty. My friends enjoyed their entrees as well. So…like I said… the food was great, the service was terrible. If I am paying $ 25 for a meal… I expect excellent service to go with it. I’ve had many people tell me how great this restaurant is, so maybe they were having an off night? In the end… food was great… service…not so much.

Really nice place on the north shore. Once I came here with a party of 18 and while the wait was really long they were able to split checks at the end which was very nice. I had the pleasure of returning recently for lunch. My lovely lunch date, my grandmother selected the gumbo as her entrée. She loves gumbo and has been eating it for over 90 years so if theirs passes her test, I’d have to agree that they have a good gumbo. I got the turtle soup, which could rival the turtle soups in famous New Orleans restaurants. My favorite thing was the crab cake appetizer, which was 3 good sized discs of crab cake with lump crap meat on top covered in a light lemon cream sauce. The sauce was creamy, but not too heavy and really enhanced the flavor of the seafood. It was awesome! The white chocolate bread pudding is also something I highly recommend. It was rich, dense and sweet. Everything you could want in a bread pudding. It was also huge and could easily be split between 2 or more. The service both times has been excellent. Very attentive, knowledgeable, and polite staff. It’s an upscale place with upscale prices, but the lunch menu was very reasonable price wise. I will definitely be back if I find myself in this neck of the woods again.

Crowded, very noisy and brusque waiter. When I asked for two checks the waiter said«One check per table» period. Took our order promptly but one of our platters did not appear and we had to ask for it. My veal & crab was very good but the mashed potatos were cold. My wife’s fillet was grilled perfectly and was outstanding. Waiter was not attentive. I will not go back

Our first time here and we were very pleased. The customer service wasn’t superbly amazing, however, our waiter was very attentive. The food on the other hand was AHHHMAZING! We tried a variety of dishes. First we had the seafood gumbo which was delicious. There was quite a bit of lump crab meat in it which I personally loved. Next I had a Caesar salad, sub Caesar dressing for Balsamic. It was very fresh and tasty. For my husband’s meal he got a ribeye steak with potatoes au gratin a la carte. The waiter recommended loading the potatoes which we did and we were so happy we did! The potatoes with the cheese and bacon on top was to die for. The steak was seasoned perfectly and was hot and sizzling. My husband is a steak man which means we’ve been to quite a few steak places… He’s placed this one at number one! I had the BBQ Shrimp and Grit Cake appetizer as my meal. The sauce and the actual shrimp were really good but I was not a fan of the grit cake. It was bland and I couldn’t get around the texture of it. Overall though, that would be my only complaint in the food department. As a heads up, I’ve heard this place is very hard to get into on the weekends. Also even during the week at lunch time we were asked if we had a reservation. Before trying it out you may want to go ahead and place that reservation. As far as the ambiance goes, it reminds me a of a «fancy-casual» restaurant. Meaning it was a really nice feel to it and it is pretty«fancy», but I wouldn’t say you need to dress up too much to come, although I wouldn’t recommend flip flops and cut offs. Definitely worth the drive from BR!

This was an anniversary dinner for my fiancé and I. We made a reservation and the table was ready for us when we got there. We ordered drinks– they were delicious! The oyster appetizer was delicious. We got a side of Brussels sprouts, that was the only thing we didn’t love, they were kind of mushy. We also got a side of the corn grits which were amazing! But the star of the meal was the steak. We got each got a ribeye, cooked medium rare. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and the seasoning was very flavorful. The meat just melted in your mouth. It was wonderful. I took part of mine home and even a few days later it was delicious! And, they have is a free dessert since we were celebrating our anniversary. It was a great experience and I can’t wait to go back!

My fiancé and I ate here for an anniversary dinner. We had a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was towards the nicer side while being relaxed at the same time. As for the food, we started with a baked oysters starter from the specials menu. I can’t recall the name, but it was really good. We each got the ribeye steak medium-rare. The cook was a bit inconsistent. A few parts of my steak were quite rare, but the temperature was correct for the most part and the flavor was excellent. We ordered sides of bacon braised Brussel sprouts and cheese and corn grits. The grits were awesome! For dessert, we were treated to the four less chocolate cake on the house for our anniversary, which was a lovely end to a lovely meal.

One of Covington’s best restaurants! Consistently delicious, top notch operation! Steaks are amazing, and so is everything else on the menu! When soft shelled crabs are in season, do not miss this dish! It’s awesome! Crab cakes, oysters pablo, shrimp remoulade are all good starters. Fish dishes are great too. Good wine list, waiters are all very good and helpful, and the cocktails are great. Try the white chocolate bread pudding for dessert! Thank you Pat Gallagher for this local«gem» of ours!

The food is amazing. Went here for a birthday celebration and was not disappointed by the food. Delicious. I would rate this five stars if my experience wasn’t ruined by the service. When asked the recommendation of how to have a meat prepared, the waiter simply pointed at the menu options for meat preparation options and then stared back at me. No thanks. Haven’t gone back since.

Perfectly cooked rare Filet was extremely hot on the outside and perfectly cool and tender in the middle Brussel sprouts were ok, slightly undercooked but the steak more than made up for that. Great service from Sam, very helpful and courteous

My dad and I were celebrating our March birthdays and thought this would be a great place to relax and enjoy some good food especially based on the past stellar Unilocal reviews. The atmosphere was a little more formal than expected(quiet dining room with white table cloths and set tables) We decided to sit in the bar area as it had a more casual feel. The chef, Pat Gallagher, introduced himself as he got up from his break and headed to the kitchen. The food was very good especially the oysters brochette. The menu selections is what sealed the deal for our reservation because everything looked so appealing. The service was top notch also. He surprised us with a chocolate dessert since I mentioned it was our birthdays which added the perfect ending to our meal. There is a nice bar tucked away in the back of the restaurant perfect for a more casual dining experience overlooking a beautiful bamboo garden and patio. Overall, we had a great dinner and would suggest Gallagher’s for any special occasion.

My overall experience was delicious. The only downfall was there hostess Hayley. She was very rude and didn’t seem like she wanted to even work there. You would want your customers to feel good right when you walk through the door. She made it uncomfortable and pointed to our seat and didn’t say anything to us. MAYBE say, «Your waiter will be right with you.» She said Nada. But when our waiter came to us he made our experience great. The young man that did the refills kept my husband’s water full… which is a big deal to him! Now to the food… They need a new recipe for the bread. Very dry. Bacon wrapped Scallops… YES! Just simply amazing. My husband’s sizzling buttered Rib Eye was just perfect. Now… the bread pudding. TADA! Grand Slam. Finished the night with a bang. We will come back again… hopefully the hostess changes her attitude or they just need to get somebody else.

You get what you pay for here and this place doesn’t disappoint. The gumbo was the best I’ve had so far in the Cov/Man area. Crab cake is tied together with an outstanding Panko crust, Oyster Poboy was adequate, and lobster was hot and sweet.

We ate here with some friends and family on a Saturday night. The parking lot was full and the side street didn’t have an empty spot. We parked across the street and took our lives in hand crossing the busy highway. However, once inside the evening changed for the better. We had reservations but they were full and running late. Eventually, we were seated. My wife and I ordered a bottle of wine and looked over the menu. The decisions were pretty easy. We both started off with the house salad and one of their homemade dressings. The main course both of us was a sizzling 11 ounce filet with sides of roasted garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach with artichoke hearts. The meal was delicious. I normally don’t have dessert but let the waiter talk me into their white chocolate bread pudding. Fantastic! And I not a big fan of bread pudding. What started off as a questionable evening turned into a fine dining event. The wait staff was great. If I have to eat across the lake, I’ve discovered this is a good choice.

Wow! Gallagher’s Grill far exceeded my expectations. I am always on the lookout for restaurants that I haven’t tried yet. Having heard about Gallagher’s on the radio, and in print media, I decided it was time to give it a try. I arrived a little early for my reservation and the place was packed. Since my table wasn’t quite ready, I headed for the bar. I will admit that I was expecting a much fancier looking place, but it had a sort of old New Orleans feel which I am quite fond of. Once the table was ready the real magic began. Gallagher’s menu is pretty typical of a high end steakhouse. For appetizers we began with Oysters en Brochette and Crabmeat Ravigote. Both were incredibly good. The oysters were so perfectly cooked that we nearly ordered a second batch. Considering how much food we had already ordered, I am glad we resisted that urge. For my entrée I decided on the prime cowboy ribeye. It was, without a doubt, one of the top ten steaks I have ever consumed in my life. I don’t say that lightly as I love all things steak, but it was truly incredible. It was a perfect medium rare and served New Orleans style with sizzling butter. Service was excellent. Everyone from the hostess to the owner was accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. I really liked that the owner/chef was walking around to ensure everyone’s entrée was up to snuff. I really like this place and think you will too. It isn’t as fancy as Dakota or La Provence, but I think it is one of the best restaurants on the northshore.
