You know the old acronym — KISS? Keep It Simple Stupid Well, you would do well to remember that before you venture into this(or any for that matter) location of this casual local chain. As the name implies the specialty here is the burger. And when it’s kept simple they do it quite well. A good patty topped with some grated cheddar is really the way to go. Yes, they do have a few«designer» type burgers(i.e. the Mango Burger which is topped with mango salsa or the Blackened Cajun BBQ Burger of which there is really nothing Cajun about). But as stated you are better off sticking with the basics. There are few other menu options — some salads, a few fried seafood items, and a couple of non-burger sandwiches — of which I cannot speak because I have not tried them. I should also mention that beer is really cold and the fries totally rock… oh, and the soft drinks are served in heavyass and kind of cool pewter mugs. Bottom line: It’s called Ground Pat’i. Maybe you should order the burger?

This is a true burger joint, meaning don’t get anything here besides cow. And ya know that’s fine, but going here was more of my family’s decision. I’m a burger light weight, sadly. The food pictures uploaded for this restaurant? Yeah they’re mine. I took it upon myself to present my spectacle of an entrée’ to the public. The meat with pineapple, cheddar cheese and cherry on it is salmon… SALMON. The salmon itself wasn’t too bad, but I don’t understand why they didn’t bake it all together. It was all added as a garnish after the salmon was baked! That makes no sense! My mother and father got the 8oz sirloin, which confirmed my mistake to go non-cow. It was as it should be, tender and satisfying. This was its only redemption really because I’m pretty sure our server was either high or hypnotized by something sinister in the kitchen. I couldn’t get over how he managed to incorporate anxiety into this breezy, space cadet persona… maybe he had been caught stoned at work… or maybe he’s a wacko. We didn’t get much of his attention, but he was certainly a concern with our food. The best advice I can give is to stick to the daily specials cause its the only entrees they seem to put effort into making.
Btw I’m no cook, but I could make better sweet potato fries with my left foot… and I’m naturally right footed.

Mac n cheese wedges really sound like a great idea. It was almost a dream come true until my first bite revealed what seemed to be a stash of Kraft cheese and macaroni. Perhaps you like your meals from the space food isle, but I prefer grandma’s baked mac. Truth be told, I did not come here for the stealth mac n cheese bombers. I came here for a burger, and this ain’t no Cajun Sunrise. I prefer my puck medium, and I suppose I should not be too surprised when it is not temped correctly. My wife prefers hers medium-well, and when we realized there was a mixup in the kitchen involving the displacement of our burgers, we swung our partners round about. Now the plastic stick claiming victory of my burger said medium, yet the masses in my mouth shouted medium-well. I suppose that’s why they tried to cover the issue with a cold pile of unmelted cheddar cheese on top– an attempt at distraction I can only assume. Low and behold I ate until I was full. I passed on the fries and kept my fingers crossed that the pickle on the side would not let me down. Oh well. For the cost, there are much better places in town to get a mighty fine burger.

Ground Pati is a casual place to get a good burger. The Northshore lacks a lot of places to get a good burger. The Ground Pati is not fancy, but it does deliver in the burger department. Each meal starts off with salted peanuts brought to your table. Everyone knows that people love peanuts. The burgers are simple, but very good. No special wacky burgers here. Just good old fashioned beef and cheese. Ground Pati has a full menu, but I haven’t tried anything but the burgers. If you want a good burger and a cold beer, Ground Pati is a good place to feed your craving.

The Ground Pat’i restaurants are a Louisiana institution that I had avoided for 12 years mainly because the name is unappetizing and the logo is a meat grinder. Well silly me because this place has some terrific burgers and sweet potato fries, along with plenty of free fresh peanuts to snack on while you wait. It’s like Red Robin’s hillbilly cousin. I had lunch here on that crazy snow day last week because everything else was closed, and will probably be back. You can’t keep me away from sweet potato fries.
