We’ve gone to lunch here several times this month. Jim Williamson is very friendly and walks over and talks to customers. I have enjoyed everything I’ve had. All his soups are great. I had the chicken sausage gumbo today. It was delicious. My husband had the broccoli cheese soup. I love the hamburgers, best I’ve had anywhere. I haven’t had anything that I haven’t enjoyed.

They catered our wedding and was getting nothing but complements from the food. Also a great place for lunch off the square. Fresh food and great service. Everything is homemade, not canned like other some restaurants. Plus, no charge for tea or lemonade when you buy lunch. Love this place.

With all of the salads that are offered up here, you might think that you have stepped into a Ladies tea, which is about as southern as you can get. Chicken salad every which way you can think of as well as several pasta salads and a multitude of other choices! Cozy little joint that is located right off the square that epidemizes small town America. Great place for lunch!

These people are plain nuts, lol. But you have to be to be in the catering business, right? They are open for lunch and also cater events. The service isn’t great. But lunch here? Best in the square. A bit pricey, but the tomato bisque is good and so are the salads. I’ve had the reuben and sonetimes it’s good and sometimes not. The place is always packed and you’ll typically see just about every higher up government guy and gal here on a weekday lunch break. The murals on the wall are awful and it usually looks like they need someone bussing tables full time, but I don’t go for the ambience.

as a vegetarian, I really enjoy their pimento cheese sandwich. They have lots of sides & breads to choose from. You end up getting a large amount of food for the $ 7-$ 8 you spend on the combo meal.(sandwich, 2 sides, drink, & don’t forget the complimentary peanuts!)(And if you’re «being good” – you can easily have leftovers. you will not leave this place hungry.) The man who owns the place rings you up & is very friendly. He recommended their veggie wrap – which I plan on trying the next time I go.

Plain Nuts is incredibly good. As caterers, they will always give you twice as much food as you need, and you’ll take it home, and love them for days after your event. The lemon bars are divine. The pasta salad — I miss it almost every day. Really, you cannot go wrong. And the storefront downtown has all the catering menu options available in lunch portions. And not too expensively, considering portion and quality. Really, I hate giving them only four stars, but the counter service is abominable. First, you can only order lunch from 10 – 1 on weekdays. Or maybe it’s 11 – 2. It’s been a while(and maybe now they’re better). But that sucks, because the place is always packed. And the phone is ringing off the hook while you’re standing there, and they have one poor girl working the counter. Now, I always empathize with waitresses(not just because they will handle my food), but because this particular girl is overwhelmed. But dang — hire more people. I’ve had entire orders lost. I keep going back because the food is amazing, but it’s really frustrating. And they’ve run out of ingredients in the middle of the day. Like, I’m waiting in line, and the owner’s son comes running in the front foor with a Kroger bag full of eggs or something. But I go back, because I love them. And you should, too.
