Been in here a couple of times. It’s pretty good, though I feel the food selection is somewhat limited. Everyone that worked here was very courteous on both occasions, but the service was just«ok», I’m not sure they are properly set up to handle bigger parties, so refills and such can be a struggle if you have more than a couple of people. The food is good, not great, in my opinion. I had the tacos and a burrito. I also tried a tamale. I think you can get better flavored«authentic» tacos @ the taquerias in Conyers, but this is by no means terrible. Prices are very reasonable and it is a clean if somewhat bare environment.(again this is a huge plus compared to some of the other taquerias in the area).

Below you will find my five star review. I sincerely hope I will come back to Unilocal to delete the one I am about to write, because I am very sad to write it. El Bajio was closed over the weekend for«remodeling.» They didn’t do much, and who cares? I don’t come to this place three times in a week for décor. I come for the incredible food and great hospitality. Alas, on our trip today, both were sorely lacking. The place was very busy, granted, and their cc machine was down, so we were ready for service to be a little slow. We were not ready to have three other tables in a ten table place to be seated and served before we even got chips and salsa. The rest of the service was equally slow. The food was so salty as to be very nearly inedible – I am still tasting salt on my lips as I write – and my rice and beans(beans served missing melted cheese) – were cold. I was also not prepared to stand as the only person in line for five minutes being ignored. Most shocking to me was the response I got to friendly feedback. I said, Just so you know, we are regular customers and eat here all the time, but the food today was just not up to par with what you usually serve. I described how salty it was. Instead of any apology what I got was an argument. The woman checking me out gestured angrily back toward the kitchen and said, Same cook! It’s the same cook! When I replied, Well, okay, if you don’t want my honest feedback you don’t have to listen to it. She told me, again with the same angry gesture, Talk to the cook! As I began this review by saying, this place has never been short of amazing, and we will certainly give it one more try. But with the remodeling has come different staff and seemingly a different attitude toward hospitality. If we have another experience like the one today, we won’t be back.

It’s Cinco de Mayo, and I wanted to get some Mexican food before heading home after work. I stopped here because of the good reviews. Don’t get me wrong, the service was good(hence 2 stars instead on one). However, my food was subpar in terms of flavor and execution. The sign on the window said that they are now serving shredded beef as a meat option with their food items. I chose the shredded beef to go with a special they were offering, which was a quesadilla and a taco with rice and beans for $ 5.65. The beef tasted like it was not seasoned at all, it was overcooked and somewhat dry. My guess is that it was placed in the oven or slow cooker and left to cook for the rest of the day. My quesadilla looked pretty sad, and it seemed as if they used canned tomatoes to put on both my taco and my quesadilla. Gross. Didn’t bother to eat most of it, I just ate the rice and beans with the corn tortillas from the taco… I tossed the rest. It was supposed to come with a side of pico and sour cream, but it didn’t. On the plus side, all the food was hot, but there’s no point if I didn’t bother to eat it. I will just stick to my regular spots on my side of town. Good, authentic Mexican food in Covington? What was I thinking???

Fast and delicious. Would recommend asking what they have on special. My two year old loves this place and he is picky. The green chile salsa was amazing. Perfectly roasted! The pork tamale was also the perfect consistency and moist. The carne asada tostadas and tacos a must try.

Very nice little taqueria. I had the carne asada burrito and a chicken soft taco. Just the right amount of beans and rice on the burrito and it was delicious. The chicken taco was delicious as well. Their horchata was just right as well. I’ll be back if I’m ever in Covington again.

I would’ve taken photos but my food didn’t last that long! Delicious and a good price. The food has that real authentic taste to it, not that Taco Bell flavor you can find anywhere. The ingredients were fresh. I had the Gorditas and my wife ordered a sope de carne asada. The plates were so clean at the end, they didn’t even need soap.(I’m sure they washed them though) This place is a hidden gem of authentic mexican food. Money well spent. If we ever come through again, this is on my list.

Highly recommend. Very simple décor. Friendly staff. Fresh food cooked to order. Beverages kept ice cold in the small beverage cooler in the front. Had asada, pollo and carnitas tacos. Plate with drink came to less than $ 9. I will happily come here for tacos any time!

As others have mentioned my GPS didn’t find the exact location. Its attached to a gas station which is also next to Pippins BBQ if that helps. I had the pork tacos, chicken sopes, & chicken tostadas for takeout. The pork tacos were good but I was a real fan of the chicken tostadas. For the quality & value I’ll be coming here more often.

I’ve been passing this place for a while, but after reading the reviews I decided to stop by and it most definitely did not disappoint. If you like authentic mexican food this place is for you. The food is very flavorful! The staff is very nice and helpful, and the prices are very affordable. If you go to taco bell, you’ll end up paying more for less quantity and quality. Make sure you check it out and don’t let the gas station fool you lol. This place is legit and I will definitely be coming back again and again. Glad to have a place like this in Covington!

5 star Mexican food in Georgia? I can’t believe it either, but this place is legit. I’m from Socal and I would go here even at home. I have lived in the South for many years and can’t wait to get back to Socal for real Mexican. Well I can’t believe it, but this place is the best in the South. Ask for the spicy salsa.

With hot and fresh authentic Mexican food, this taqueria hits the spot for an inexpensive lunch or dinner. The beef tongue was very savory and tender. I’ll definitely stop by here again.

We stopped here on our way to Augusta from Atlanta and I’m very glad we persevered and finally found the place! It was delicious! The directions from Unilocal took us 6 miles the wrong way. We finally just turned navigation off and followed the roads to the«red dot» on the map. It is about 100 yards farther down the road than where the red dot is. Anyway, it was well worth the extra driving. It looks like a family owned/operated place and everything we got was very fresh and delicious. My Husband and I both got the beef tacos and had them add pico de gallo. They were so great. We will definitely be back to try more things on the menu.

Attached to a gas station about a hundred yards past where Google maps told me my destination would be, Taqueria El Bajio is unassuming and easily misjudged at first appearance. The brightly-colored walls, a cooler full of Jarritos, and a TV broadcasting in Spanish give a sneak peak into what is to come: authentic, fresh, and delicious Mexican cuisine. If you’re looking for the cheese-smothered, often fried American version of the genre, you may need to look elsewhere. I had three chicken tacos on corn tortillas(gluten-friendly) and requested they be topped with pico de gallo. Typically, they would come with cilantro and onions only. The meat in the tacos was plentiful and flavorful. We ordered at the counter, but it was unclear whether this is the expectation as we were one of two tables there. A waiter brought chips and salsa to our table. The chips were a bit stale, but the salsa was incredibly fresh– perfect amount of cilantro and heat. We were traveling through from Columbia, SC to Atlanta, GA– and this was a convenient stop. Easy to locate and quick. We’ll definitely be back through.

Great authentic Mexican food. None of the frozen, microwaved junk you can get from some other Mexican establishments. Great, quick service. Only complaint, no sweet tea or fountain drinks. All the drinks come in cans or bottles. Still, that does not take stay from the food. The awesome, awesome food.
