Cranbury Book Work live in my memories as the old ramshacle house which once housed the literary treasures of my childhood. My grandmother, who instilled in me a love for reading, would take me here on out gallivanting adventures. It was the best stop, other than the ice cream shop down the street. The place has moved and while it is not the some location as my memories, the smell of ollllllld books brings those memories back again. Varying prices and a true book lovers collection, you must stop here is you are in town.

Much, much smaller than it used to be but still a good selection and a good place to shop for books. If you want something specific you might not find it here but if you just go to enjoy the eclectic assortment you will enjoy this place. Slightly jumbled but that adds to the atmosphere.

What a cool little book store! It’s one little house basically and from what I understand they had to downsize from a larger house to this smaller location. That being said there’s a lot of stuff crammed in here and not really that organized but that is sort of the charm. The staff was very helpful and friendly and I came out with 9 books for $ 6 because it was a half off sale. I can imagine what I would have spent if I had paid retail or order them from Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Long live mom and pop places like this

This is a very large house full of books. It’s a bit different from most book houses in that, based on the size of the unshelved recent books section, they seem to take a real interest in turning over the books and buying new stock… or maybe it takes them a long time to get around to shelving. Probably both! A great resource for the community, and definitely worth the trip if you’re in the area.

This place is awesome and has a friendly staff. Obviously it’s difficult to organize so many books 100% accurately, but the Book Worm tries their hardest. I travel nearly an hour to Cranbury from west central New Jersey and never regret it.

Such a great place!!! I’m am elementary school teacher and stopped by to look for books to build my classroom library. I was expecting to pick up a handful and left with a whole box! The Bookworm had an excellent selection of children’s books, and the staff was so friendly. After asking if I was a teacher, they offered me a half-off discount. I got an amazing deal on high-quality books my kids will love. True, it is is messy, but that is part of the fun! I recommend browsing here with an open mind – looking for one specific book could easily get overwhelming. Overall, a wonderful place to spend an afternoon with great selection and great deals.

REDALERT!!! It appears the bookstore has moved for some reason. It’s now across the street, a little down the road toward Rt. 130. I don’t know why this has happened and I haven’t yet visited the new place. I’m very very sad! But if you were headed here and don’t see it, just look across the street up a little ways. :( This is the kind of bookstore Terry Pratchett talks about in his books, like every now and then I dream of it in a mysterious numinous way. They’ve got regular used books as well as more expensive antiquarian ones. And sometimes some antiques here and there, ephemera, and paintings, and vinyl LPs, and hand-made candles, that sort of thing. i miss when they had the basement open. I should try to list out the specialties, hmmm… Mystery, gardening, animals, children’s, biography, science, old computer books, history, religion of sorts, cooking, crafts, music… I haven’t been there in a while because I have so many books and so easily add more. I’m overdue to visit though.

The Book Worm is unparalleled. I love The Strand but this beautiful mansion n Cranbury just overflowing with random books stands in a place of its own. It’s unpredictable, messy and occasionally frustrating but like any great used book store it offers these amazing secrets that make you feel like you’re part of something special. I discovered a copy of Denis Johnson’s Jesus’ Son for $ 1.99 a few months ago and it was an incredible revelation. You should visit this place.

This is a great place for used bookstore browsing. The location is charming, and the selection is surprisingly good. I found some great turn-of-the-century dime store novels for women that are great collector’s items, and the price was very reasonable. The staff at the store were very quiet — I didn’t interact much, but that doesn’t say anything, since a bookstore is fairly straightforward unless you are looking for something specific. The sci-fi selection was also very good — a lot of books that are out of print and difficult to find. All in all, a very good used bookstore for this area, and a nice addition to a beautiful town.

This has been our go-to place for used books for years. Very popular. We concentrate on detective novels but there is something for everyone.
