Excellent! Me and my good friend came here last minute on valentines day. Sat at the bar. Great choice! Veal saltimbocca was delicious. My friend had Veal franchise and she loved it. Great band. Real nice atmosphere and music. Staff is great. Will definitely be back

I tried this place with my wife for the first time. it’s in a strip mall, but the inside is very nicely decorated. The 10 and 12 dollar specials are well worth it. I had the chicken francais’ and my wife had the meatloaf special. The chicken was very good but a little lemony. The meatloaf was just okay. Salads are an extra 2 dollars. No onions, but chickpeas and kidney beans? Kind of odd. We split the spumoni cake for desserts. The total was 41dollars plus tip with coffees as well. Our server Nicole took good care of us. I would return again and try one of the other specials.

It’s a quint nice looking restaurant, and the food is inexpensive. HOWEVER, the food and service are lacking. I had the lobster ravioli and and my companion had the swordfish and both were disappointing(and we are by no means picky eaters, not to mention we were starving)… We tried having the dessert hoping to make up for the meal,(the chocolate peanut butter which was supposedly freshly made) and it had the ‘fridge’ taste– like it sat there overnight — what a disappointment! Lastly the service was really lousy. The waitress walked by us half a dozen times and never checked in– and the place was not even busy. It was a Friday eve and the band came in and started playing around 930PM and they were good but we were so disappointed with the food and service that we left anyway.

Hard to beat the nightly $ 10 specials. Great place for the young couple out on a date. Wide variety of substantial meals. We had spicy schrimp, mussels in a white wine sauce, and veal parm. Very hearty and good value. Drinks are typically pricey. But will definitely return. Atmosphere could use some help, abit too banquet hally. Great service.

I almost want to keep this to myself because I’m afraid everyone will find out and 39 West will no longer outshine the Cranston restaurant game. But I’ll share. Because I’m nice like that. We came here on a Wednesday a little after dinner time(around 7pm or so) so the restaurant wasn’t too packed or anything. The outdoor area was set up, presumably for the St. Mary’s Feast and looked like it had a bar underneath the tent and an accommodating amount of benches and tables but that wasn’t too hoppin’ either. We were seated almost immediately by our server, Lexy, who incidentally was working as both waitress and hostess for the night. She was awesome but I’ll get to that. She showed us each of the menus — a regular menu & then a smaller menu comprised of «Early Bird Specials» — all $ 10 each. Correct me if I’m wrong but the«Early Bird Special» was Monday-Thursday 5pm until close and Sat & Sun 4−7pm. I thought we would’ve surely missed the special but we didn’t. Then I thought there must be nothing appetizing for them to be able to get away with this but I was dead wrong. They have two pages worth of high quality, large portion entrees for, yup, only $ 10. I ordered the Baked Scallops which came with broccoli & potato. My boyfriend ordered a soup(which he was in love with — don’t remember what it was but I Know I couldn’t have it because it had meat in it — probably chicken escarole or something) and a plate of calamari. Everything was delicious! The scallops were baked just right, not too greasy, and went well with the garlicky broccoli and baked potato. The calamari was great too — again, fried but not too greasy. The batter was airy but still had a bit of a crunch to it. Between the two of us, my boo and I are probably a waitstaff’s nightmare with all our dietary restrictions but Lexy took it like a champ and we really appreciated that she took the time to ask if she didn’t know the answer and suggest modifications to dishes to accommodate our needs. Also, it’s worth noting that the bread is spot on — soft on the inside with a nice crunchy crust — and Lexy brought us out bread that came straight from the oven and was still piping hot. The bread is served with olive oil instead of butter which is a nice touch. But this is no ordinary olive oil — they serve either Roasted Garlic infused olive oil or Roasted Garlic & Red Pepper infused olive oil. The latter is seriously my favorite thing I’ve ever tried ever in all the world of dining out. Anyway, the bill was incredibly reasonable(we ate all that food and ordered 3 drinks total) so I left $ 11 on a $ 40 check. Why not? It’s not often we go out and get the whole package — great service, great food, excellent atmosphere, affordable everything. I look forward to coming back for more and telling all my friends. Well, some of them. I don’t ever want 39 West to stop offering that Early Bird Special!

We went to 39 West not knowing what to expect. Wow everything was great! The new Chef Anthony was outstanding as was our waiter and the rest of the staff. I started out with the wedge salad I always order anywhere I see it on the menu someplace and I have to say this was the best I’ve ever had. I think the key was the balsamic reduction and the in house made blue cheese dressing. My girlfriend had the caprese salad and that was great too. We had the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer they were simple and excellent. It’s nice to find a place that doesn’t load the mushrooms with imitation crabmeat and keeps simple, ritz cracker crumbs, some finely diced veggies and butter topped with mozzarella. Then we had the prime rib for an entrée. It was delicious and nearly 2 inches thick! After the huge salads and appetizer we could only eat about ¼ of it. It was seasoned perfectly and there was plenty of au ju for mashed potatoes. I’ll get 2 meals out of what I brought home. We also chose some dessert to take home a piece of crustless banana cream pie. They had a 50th birthday party going on at the same time with at least 60+ guests and the staff were. all fast attentive and positive. We will be returning soon. This place is great. Oh and one more thing they have live music as well. 39 west is well worth visit.

39 West is a venue in which you can be treated elegantly, enjoy very good food, and still have money to spare! That is an extraordinary restaurant. Chef Anthony knows how to please and will be at your table should you need to make special requests. The salads are crisp and healthy. Their special $ 10.00 menu includes a huge selection of entrees and substitutions can be made such as a different vegetable etc. — making the experience one that is tailored to you. My personal favorite is the Chicken Vincenzo which consists of chicken cutlets topped with red roasted peppers, mushrooms, and black olives in a light tasty sauce along with a fresh vegetable and potato or a side of pasta. The ambiance is open and spacious. The wine list offers variety and reasonable prices. Kudos to this restaurant for providing so much for so little as well as to Chef Anthony for his willingness to please each diner at 39 West.

I must confess I have been to this restaurant twice in the past week. I have to say that I was so impressed the first night that I brought another friend of mine back to try it again. The 10 dollar menu has quite a lot to choose from and the extra few dollars it cost for a salad is well worth it. The Romaine in the Caesar was not wilted, the dressing wonderful and the shaved Parmesan cheese always delights me, never mind cheese sprinkles. Also, the croutons were crunchy and light not old and stale. The entrees had ample portions on both nights and we cleaned our plates. I am also very thankful that the vegetable was not baby carrots or carrots of any variety, I really despise them. The dessert was ok but nothing special but not a deal breaker. All in all a great value and well worth a visit. PS Mark our server was terrific and put up with my wise cracks with a smile and Rob two nights later was great.

We made reservations for a Friday and were told they could seat us at 6 but we would have to be done at the table at 7:30. It was Friday night– but who says that?! We were seated by a very nice hostess and out waiter was fabulous. That’s kinda where it ends for me. The food was plain Italian and the wine list was blah. The desserts were good– fried ice cream over a brownie, and lemon cake was tasty. Here is the worst part– the entire time we were eating(celebrating a birthday) a band was loading their stadium size equipment into the restaurant. Boxes and boxes of lights and speakers and soundboards bigger than the guys bringing them in. The restaurant is in a strip mall in the middle of Cranston– it was so odd for a small place. One person at our table had to move her chair every time they tried to squeeze another enormous box in through the door. They would just bump into her without apologizing. Once the equipment was in, the band just began randomly sound checking — and I think there were about 8 or 9 guys in the band– it went on forever. They absolutely didn’t care that anyone was trying to eat dinner. I have been a part of many sound checks and this was the longest most obnoxious one yet. We couldn’t even talk to each other anymore. In a small restaurant a full set of drums and speaker stacks ISNOTNEEDED! Because they had the mics set up one guy even thought he was funny doing a bit of karaōke to the songs that the restaurant was playing on their speakers– distracting and rude to people in the middle of conversations. If it weren’t for our waiter and the desserts I’m not sure what # of stars I would have given. I would not recommend the food, but if you go try to make it a night when they don’t have a band.

The service was top notch… the food was amazing! The décor of the space was a nice a bit modern open space but a little cold… could use a «little» warming up.

Dined here on a Saturday night to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The most remarkable feature? $ 10 early bird menu before 7 p.m. I chose the chicken piccata — a light and lemony entrée served with mixed vegetables and red bliss mashed potatoes — I’d order this again. My dining companions chose the chicken parmesan, and all agreed it was tough in spots and sauce was borderline bitter. Service was excellent! Restaurant features a band on the night we dined, and setting up equipment and sound checking during dinner service — incredibly disruptive to ambience and conversation. Given this, I’d definitely dine on a weeknight in the future.

Enjoyed atmosphere and location. Convenient spot to meet in Cranston. Wine selection was ok and the service was slower than we hoped. I will try this restaurant again, though. This was a nice spot to meet friends and be able to chat.

I recently visited this gem. The location is central to everything. With out a good eye you would be likely to miss it. Upon enetering the building you’ll be sested by the host, there are tables or bar seating only. The 10 $ menu is quiet extensive and has something for everyone. They get you with the plater of desserts at the end of the meal.yumm. The chef Anthony is great. He knows his food and cooks a hell of a meal.

I went last night with a group of friends and had a very nice experience. When they suggested 39 West, I was a little hesitant — I had tried it about four years ago, and was left VERY unimpressed by the food and atmosphere. Well, the times have changed! The restaurant recently poached a chef from a nearby restaurant who has revamped the menu. Gone are the standard, Restaurant Depot-quality wings and burgers, and in their place, and impressive array of traditional Italian and American dishes, prepared-to-order with quality ingredients, take center stage. A fine array of house-made desserts(including fried ice cream, a must-try!) provides a fitting end to a much better meal. An extensive specials menu boasts full-size dinner entrees for just $ 10.00, Sunday-Thursday, 4pm-10pm. What a deal! Because everything is made to order, be prepared to wait a little — this is a spot to linger and catch up with friends over a good meal, not grab and go. A couple of suggested improvements: While the service was good, and our main server was attentive, personable, and demonstrated and in-depth knowledge of the menu, the assistant server(bus service?) was very slow to refill water and clear plates, and at at least two points during the meal, removed plates from diners at our table who were still eating! The atmosphere still leaves a bit to be desired. The restaurant is one big room, painted battleship grey, with a motley assortment of tables and chairs, and very little décor to dampen the sound. It was a slower night, but we still found ourselves shouting across the table at times. Neither of these points was enough to deter us from visiting 39 West again. We’ll definitely be back!

Tonight my wife and I went to 39 West for dinner. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We started the meal with an order of clam zuppa. The clams were cooked perfect. The broth was so good that I needed another order of bread to soak it all up. Our entrée consisted of the most tender grilled sirloin. My wife wanted hers medium well and mine medium rare. The cook nailed the temperatures of both steaks. It was such a treat to find a gem so close to home!!!

No no and no!!! Who are all of these other reviewers? Were we eating at the same restaurant? Let’s talk about some of their comments: 1. «Delicious food.» WHHAAATT? Caesar salad was straight out of a Ready-Pac bag. Pasta was of the Stouffer’s freezer aisle quality. 2. «Very reasonable prices.» WHHAAATT x2. At $ 10 for a caesar salad, I expect more quality than what I could get at McDonalds. I didn’t get that. At $ 15 – 20 a plate for entrees, I expect more quality than I can get at the Olive Garden. I didn’t get that. 3. «Nice atmosphere.» WHHAAATT x3. You’re in a strip mall, next to a barbershop. Something about this picture does not scream atmosphere. I’d skip 39 West. However, the barbershop next door looked like lots of fun.

Wednesday — Girls Night Out Dinner at 39 West. I was unsure about ordering the Buffalo Chicken Soup special, but our server swayed me when he brought a little mini-sample to the table. Sold! It wasn’t creamy and unhealthy looking like I assumed. It was DELICIOUS. If my review was based on this alone, I would have given 39 West five stars. For the entrée, I ordered the Pan Seared Sea Scallops with a white wine butter sauce served with Italian Cous Cous. I was really disappointed. The scallops had practically no flavor and the Italian cous cous tasted like uncooked pasta. Now, I may have been able to preoccupy myself with gossiping over who posted what on Facebook, but I couldn’t hear my friends, never mind myself. On Wednesday nights, starting at 7pm, a live jazz ensemble performs at 39 West. The musical instruments and 1920s crooning were lovely, but LOUD. I wanted to catch up with my girlfriends, not yell over them. The service was top notch. Thanks to John for a wonderful experience. I’ll come back on a non-live music night and give them another shot.

OUTSTANDING!!! I read a review in the Providence Journal that sounded too good to be true! Well, 39 West did not disappoint! The Calamari appetizer with a balsamic dressing with olives, tomatoes and hot peppers was off the charts. The Seared Scollops entrée was excellent and my wife’s Salmon dinner was one of the most colorful, beautifully plated meals I have ever seen. Paired with a great Chardonnay it was perfect dinner. The atmosphere and bar were really nice and the waitress super friendly and helpful. My only regret was we left no room for dessert(which looked great!)…and I wish we could have stayed for the live music. That’s OK! We’ll definitely go back soon!

Everyone seems to comment on Bartender Rob — I would have to agree he is a great guy to have behind the bar — from attitude to wit to pouring a great drink! Had the pork chop, spinach and mashed potatoes. The spinach was out of this world, garlic with a little heat on it — really amazing. The chop was awesome with a beef gravy that was killer. Mashed were equally great. Absolutely will be back next time I am in town. Great experience.
