I went to the Aveda Institute in Cranston, RI to get my hair cut on the recommendation of a friend, and I was delighted by the experience. The facility itself is beautiful, upscale and spacious — and the sale of Aveda products is always a plus. I was greeted by lovely, friendly staff, and I was taken for my appointment right away. My hair was cut by a that-day graduate, Katie T., and she did a great job. She was careful and thorough, and received helpful hints and instruction from the instructor-on-duty, Jessica L. I liked the idea of being cut by a student, but also the comfort of having an experienced instructor nearby, just in case. Not that it was needed, because Katie knew her stuff! There was a great vibe at the facility — good music, lots of happy chatter and positive energy. I feel like this is a best kept secret! Not only did I walk away with a fabulous cut, but my shampoo and cut was only $ 17.00! What’s not to like? I would certainly recommend this to friends, and look forward to trying out the Aveda Institute for a facial or massage next.

avoid at all costs. this school is just really poorly run. i was a client there for over a year and during that time had one — two services a month from wash and blow-dry to color. i stayed so long because i really liked one of the students, but the morale in that place leaves you drained. the students hate it there. it’s a constant war between the owner and his manager and the students. as a patron, i don’t think i need to hear about the inner-school drama, but it’s everywhere and all anyone can discuss. i heard about students suing the school for sexual harassment, harassment from the owner on older students, instructors quitting, mental breakdowns, students promised specific items/skills(hair extensions) in their educational kits and the materials/instruction never coming thru, and a slew of petty appointment booking issues — this is all while i’m supposed to be living the aveda moment, relaxing and enjoying my service. in my opinion, this is a bad option for services or for beauty school education.

i went to aveda today with my grandma for my birthday i got a pedicure by britney. she was very polite and she did a great job. I have awful feet and it took her by surprize. but she continued to be professional. she is a classy gal. I do feel bad i didnt give her a tip. I wasn’t paying my grandmother was. but i will be back next week to give her a double tip. I didnt bring my purse and my grandmother hated her services so Poor Britney got stiffed. give them a try the products are great!

Fantastic retail product selection. Staff that helped me were very nice. I knew what I wanted, so I went straight for it. I also appreciated that they did not try to sell me any more than I was looking for. I am so happy to have this location as an option now that the location in Providence Place closed. I have not been for any services.
