Great cappuccinos and lattes, although a little heavy on the sugar when you ask for a couple. Prices are a bit higher than average. Same for food… But it’s good stuff for the most part.

My favorite coffee shop in the state of Rhode Island. Wide selection with amazing full flavored coffee. It’s on the pricey side but I’ve never been disappointed. Food is great too. Everything they do is with quality. Cash only!!!

Really pleasant staff and great friendly service, delicious latte, and tasty breakfast sandwiches. Will definitely return for breakfast and coffee when we come back to visit RI. Seating is indoors and outdoors, a little tight inside but the vibe is «intimate» and not cramped.

Nice inviting coffee shop. I’ve tried at least 4 different espresso based drinks(all hot) and my favorite to this point is the«Butter Rum Surprise». Be prepared to have cash on hand as this is the only for of payment accepted. The only negative I have to add would be the lack of consistency when it comes to the temperature of their drinks. I’ll definitely return!

This establishment is a hidden gem. Drove by it many times and never stopped in. So pleased that I did. As you enter you feel as if you are entering a café in Paris. The aroma is amazing. We were greeted at the counter by the owner Malcolm who welcomed us and explained the menu. Not rushed at all. The menu is wonderful, decadent waffles, crepes and egg sandwiches. The coffee menu is exquisite offering iced and hot regular, lattes and cappuccino. All the food muffins and baked goods are baked on the premises which is definitely a plus for me. I decided to try the waffle and I was not sorry. Blueberry’s baked right into the waffle and it was so light and lusciously tasting. Melted in my mouth. The maple syrup was so delicious with melted butter on top of the syrup which was an added touch. My friend had the egg sandwich with Gouda cheese and spinach which he said was the best he has ever tasted. They do also sell olive oil and balsamic vinegar which he let me sample and gave me a complimentary sample to take home. Exquisitely delish! The café itself has a magical feel and extremely welcoming. Photos of his Mother adorn the café and you can feel the love that this man had for his Mother and all that she taught him. As we ate, the owner came over to tell us the history of the café. His love for his café shined with each word spoken. The woodwork, French doors, and even the replicated Paris feel that he accomplished makes you feel as if you are there in Paris. I would recommend that you try this café. I will be back for lunch and update my review at a later date. We did get muffins to go as I couldn’t resist! I most definitely will return for morning coffee to sit and chat with the locals. What an amazing experience to start my glorious day.

Great egg sandwich! Perfect coffee! I had iced black 3 bean French which was nice and not bitter like many iced coffee.

Wow. I rarely post reviews on Unilocal.First time visit here, and only found it because of Unilocal. But this small business deserves any praise it gets. We had a blueberry waffle, banana crepes and two cappuccinos. They were all world class. Really.

I was visiting Rhode Island for about 3 weeks and found this café my first day there. I went back several times. Malcolm, the owner, is an amazing human and everything at the café is made from scratch(except the bagels). The biscotti is fantastic and not bone dry. The coffee is probably the best coffee in Rhode Island. I had the power plate several times and it was great. Malcolm is also a great listener and the café vibe is exactly what I would look for in a «regular spot». If I were living in Rhode Island, this would be my go to place for breakfast, brunch, and coffee. Definitely coming back!

What a gem! So much more than I expected. Huge menu all displayed on the wall. Very friendly people, seems like a good hangout. Coffee selection is just beyond… So many choices from the famous«poop» coffee to straight up hot black. Beautiful presentation too. That man is a true barrista(barristo?). Food was pretty tasty. Love the crêpe options. I tried a savory crêpe and I would do it again. The boyfriend partook of the homemade spinach focaccia and was happily impressed. One important thing: they only accept CASH. We didn’t have any. They owner told us just to pay next time we came in. We laughed. He didn’t, he was serious! Super hospitable(We ran to an ATM anyways). Wonderful café that felt like home, a beautiful little Parisian home.

Used to come here a lot for coffee and breakfast. Breakfast is really good. I usually got the egg and cheese on a everything bagel with smoked gouda and spinach. The eggs have chives and other herbs in there, so there’s a lot of good flavors going on in there. They also have belgian waffles served with butter and actual maple syrup. Far better than the«table syrup» you get at other breakfast places nearby(looking at you T’s). Coffee is good, but not the best in RI. Way better than all of the nearby options though. The guy is also really friendly and the place itself is cozy. Menu could be a little overwhelming for someone that’s never been there since it’s kind of all over the place. I don’t mind, guess it’s part of the charm? Now that I’ve moved to Providence I don’t go here as much, but it’s still a place I don’t mind visiting now and then. P. S. Cash only

Love this place and of course the owner Malcolm. The coffee, the food, the service = stellar. Any chance I get to tell people to come to this café, I do. No matter what he is doing or who he is talking to Malcolm knows how to make everyone feel cared for and special! If I lived closer, I would hands down be here everyday to read, write and laugh with my favorite shop owner. The café is always tidy, neat and smells delicious! The last time I was there lovely classical music was playing and it was just the right music I needed to wake me up and start my day off right. Best part besides Malcolm himself was the AMAZING mocha he made me. It was the perfect blend of chocolate and espresso. If licking inside the cup was a polite action, I would have licked every last bit of this mocha. Then of course the breakfast sandwich hit the spot, cheesy, pepperoni and egg goodness. You just can’t go wrong at this Café!

I cannot believe that I’ve lived in cranston all my life and this beautiful café has been around the corner of my house for 2 decades plus! How did I miss this!?? Ordered 2 large ice dark roast and asked for suggestions on some food before the beach. Malcom, the owner said his gourmet egg sandwiches were delicious! Ordered 2 spinach bagel sandwiches with fried egg, bacon, smoked gouda, and watered spinach. When it came out, I gobbled it all up. So so so good. The bagel itself was thin, so it didnt feel heavy! Drizzle of evoo, with salt and pepper, perfect! I’m so sad it’s not located in new york! Service was impeccable. It’s a cash only business!

ATMOSPHERE — First and foremost this is not a good place to take toddlers or children in strollers. The tables are small and very close together. The establishment does not provide high chairs or booster seats. Second, the menu display is a fractured, Rococo nightmare. Most of the items are high on the wall behind the counter and hard to read. Other items are displayed on a small piece of «artwork» to the left of the register that is hard to notice. It’s difficult to quickly scan your options. SERVICE –Because it is difficult to quickly scan your options, and because there are so many for each item, you would think the person taking your order would understand and allow ample perusal time; this is not so. The fellow taking our orders seemed very impatient and rushed through the myriad options of each menu item, many of which were nowhere to be found on the actual menus. Prep of drinks and food also seemed to take a lot longer than it should have. It was not unreasonable considering there were only 2 or 3 people working though. FOOD — The bagel sandwich I eventually received was quite tasty. A toasty bagel that was not burnt at all with a well cooked egg, melty cheese and crispy bacon. So that’s a win. Drinks were nothing to write home about.

Best coffee in the state in my opinion. The owner really knows his coffee and the bread he makes has so much flavor. Little bit of a wait because they do make everything fresh to order. But Mal knows his stuff.

Mixed thoughts about café Bön ami. It’s super cute, has delicious food and a very nice owner. There’s a few things that do keep me from visiting too often … It’s cash only which is very inconvenient. The menu is very confusing… small print, hard to read, they don’t have everything out in the case so you don’t know what they have for bagels etc… And they are usually very understaffed and if you order anything other than a plain coffee, it will take a loooong time. If I have cash and a few extra minutes, I will stop by because it’s definitely worth it!

If your looking for the best coffees, crumpets and other delicious goodies around you have found the right place! This place is a hidden gem. The coffee is superb. Malcolm the owner has so much knowledge about coffee you’d be in awe at the different kinds he carries. Literally he has coffee beans from around the world. Like Indonesia! Oh and his seasonal pumpkin squash soup in the fall is delicious!

Stopped in here this morning on a whim and really enjoyed this little spot. Initially I was overwhelmed with the options and I was unsure what I was feeling. Another Unilocaler recommended the ‘black forrest’ which I thought was some kind of ice coffee butttt it wasn’t, I have no clue what it was. It was a really syrupy red drink, it wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t get it again. On the up side, the baked goods are super tasty, I got a yogurt muffin that really hit the spot. If you’re looking for a quick grab and go this is a nice place, I’ll give the sit down breakfast a shit another day for sure!

I absolutely adore this place. Delicious apple chai tea and the owner is hands on. A happy man with a wonderful place. Very cute, relaxing, and a wonderful little spot to do your work if needed. The waffles are out of this world! Also, dairy free cookies are also to die for. Support locally and come try this wonderful place!

I have been visiting Caffe Bön Ami for the last six months, and my impression of this little Cranston treasure is fantastic! The owner, Malcolm, truly has a passion for coffee, and for people too. It is a very relaxing and welcoming environment. This quaint little French café serves a plethora of fresh and high quality coffee. If you prefer espresso or tea, Caffe Bön Ami has something for you too. They also carry many wonderfully delicious pastries including cinnamon rolls, muffins and biscotti. My personal favorite is the western omelet breakfast sandwich; absolutely perfect! Fresh specialty crepes are served daily, along with spinach pies too. *Side note: If you are a fan of balsamic vinegar, be sure to grab some of the 12 year old imported from Modena, Italy! If you begin to come here on a regular basis, you’ll notice the same faces, myself included. It’s hard not to want to come back to Caffe Bön Ami. If you come during a busy time, please don’t be discouraged by the line, it is worth every second to wait. You won’t be disappointed, and you’ll never want to go back to Starbucks again!
