Though my mom packed me a huge jar of kimchi before leaving Texas, my family and I were in need of a good home cook Korean meal. Been in Rhode Island for 3 weeks, wasn’t having much luck on finding an «Asian town» so went to good ol trustee — Unilocal. Found this place on here and decided to head on over there. Yes, it is very small, but it had everything I needed to make some great dishes! There is a huge variety from fun childhood Korean snacks to any Korean seasonings I needed. Only thing lacking would be fresh produce… next mission– Finding Bok Choy in Rhode Island.

This is a small Korean-owned market, with the standard Asian grocery staples, but what is special about this little shop is that on the weekends the owner stocks her own homemade marinated pork and beef bulgogi in the refrigerator case that you can heat up at home. It’s a real treat and quantities are limited, so if you want some get there early.

Good selection of Asian products, particularly those that are Korean. Fresh kimchi in the refrigerated section, there is also frozen products and even frozen eel. Good selection of rice, candides, and canned goods. Parking can be frustrating, try parking on the street. It’s about 5 aisles and is small, but stuff is packed and you should be able to find your Asian staples.

Great selection for such a small hole in the wall market. My wife and I make the 30min trip there often. Of the Asian markets around this probably offers the best combination of selection, personality and friendliness. Hardly ever too busy it provides a nice little shopping experience. From homemade kimchi too frozen seafood this little market is full of Asian goodies. The only downside is the lack of parking but don’t let that hold you back. Mirae Market creeps up on you and is easy to miss so keep your eyes peeled for this little gem.

Keep your eye out — I drove past it once and almost a second time! It’s hard to spot, but its corner location should help. A good selection of Japanese and Korean groceries — canned, bagged, frozen, and bottled as well as some light sundries(and a pretty extensive selection of what I think is pirated Korean music). Prices are pretty good, selection is broad but not that deep. Between here and the other asian market around the corner you should be able to find anything you want. Yay for Bulldog sauce!
