Friend took me here, raving about place. I’ve never been to a Chinese buffet that is decent. So I didn’t expect much. That said, Ive returned many times in a few months, and my other friends agree that it a couple of steps above the norm. The shrimp they use actually taste close to shrimp. The coconut chicken is very good. And the Mongolian grill offers the choice of a real cut of steak that actually taste somewhat good. The strawberry cake in the cooler is superb. Other items, well the beef is typical, and other than the dumplings, I didn’t see anything worth switching from the shrimp items. They do have lots of seafood varieties not seen elsewhere-like mussels, crawfish, quohaogs — but only my green beret friend tries them.

Typical all you can eat buffet restaurant. Most food choices were seasoned and tasted the same.

Everyone else has their own opinions about this place but I really enjoy the food when I did go a couple times, nothing bad about the chinese food. The assistants in the buffet were helpful and are pleasant with refills. I would come here again.

First time entering the restaurant was yelled what do you want? Really okay. So Hibachi station was nice I felt the guy cooking could had done better. Crab Rangoon was raw. Other then that enjoy the sea food which was fresh !!! Would try again just for the seafood.

I never expect much from a buffet and I usually give at least 2 marks for an effort made. None can be given here. While not filthy this place was far from clean. The food was bland and over cooked in many cases. The hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour. The general t’s chicken was bland and tough. I am not a Sushi fan so I can’t speak about the sushi bar. The security guard parked by the front door makes you wonder. I came here as I have been to another buffet in town a few times and thought I would branch out. I doubt very much that I will be back here.

There is a wide selection but from what I tried none of it was very good. My companion for the night said it best, they offered way too much of a selection to give enough care to any of their items.

I went here with my dad yesterday at around 8:30pm. After we left, the only thing on our mind was never coming back again. I haven’t been here for quite a while and heard they had a renovation so I want to come try it. There is no sushi anymore but the sushi they used to have were not fresh anyways. I always get the egg drop soup when I go to buffets, but the egg drop soup I had yesterday I cannot explain how it tasted like. By the second I put it into my mouth I spitted it out, it tastes like the smell of the skunk. I went up again to get some fruit, I like watermelon a lot and there was only ONE piece left and they stopped bringing more out. It was like around 9 and they close at 10:30, there was still other customers besides us. I seriously had an upset stomach before we even left the restaurant. The service was not good either. My dad ask the waiter for another sake, we waited for almost 10 minutes and no one seemed to working on it. They were busy cleaning up so they can leave asap after close. So my dad asked again then the waiter realized he forgot about it. Through our dinning, there were 2 small flies kept flying around our table and our table was a little sticky. After I got home I had to use the bathroom right away because I had an upset stomach. Everything is horrible! My dad said he’s never coming back again and neither will I. I really really doubt the cleanness of their food.

We’ve tried this restaurant a bunch of times and in our opinion it’s the best buffet in Rhode Island. It’s cheap, a lot of different kinds of food from pizza and ice cream to sea food and steak. Dissadvantages: Chinese food is very Americanized, noisy, a lot of people no matter when you come, some of them look like from ghetto. Items you may like: hot sour soup, chocolate cake, sushi, shrimps.

I’ve eaten at Royal Buffet dozens of times. Some of the food is good, some is not so good. It’s a wonderful restaurant if you stick to the good stuff. The strong point is the American-style Chinese food. If you like egg rolls, spare ribs, sweet and sour chicken, egg foo yung, and that sort of thing, this place is great. it’s a much better deal, especially with children, than going to a regular hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. On the other hand, when the menu items range into the more exotic, things do not go well. The dim sum is consistently overcooked, but it’s not awful. The sushi is edible but largely tasteless, and in the worst case has the consistency of pencil erasers, but this is about average for buffet sushi. Fresh fruits, including melons, pears, and pineapples, are pretty good although they obviously came out of a can. Desserts are a strength, with the usual buffet supply of cookies and pastries augmented by actual slices of cakes and pies in a refrigerated self-serve case and two soft-serve ice cream machines, one with chocolate and vanilla and the other with strawberry and vanilla. The staff are always very courteous and attentive, certainly more polite than many of the customers. At certain times, it is common for very young children to be running amok, bumping into people and things with wild abandon, all under the oblivious eyes of their parents. I can’t blame the restaurant for this, and they do have signs conspicuously warning that children must be accompanied by an adult, but customers often ignore this. The parking lot is enormous and shared in the same plaza, the Cranston Parkade, with K-Mart and Stop and Shop.

Went on a Sunday after church. Not a bad wait. I don’t typically do buffets at all(got bullied by my kids) But the food was fresh and hot and seemed sanitary. The crab ran good and the chicken teriyaki was probably the best for me. The do have a variety of food both. Asian and Americam fare including a salad bar. Not bad for the price. Like $ 8 per person.

Okay, so the food is good like the reviews say the coconut chicken is one of a kind and the sushi is tasty. The freshness of the seafood is a little questionable, especially if you’re going to eat raw things like the clams and shrimp. The service is low to none all they do is serve drinks and take your plates but some people would say that’s perfect service for a buffet. This place is pretty scary to go to especially during busy times(dinner and weekends) the people are loud and obnoxious, it brought back high school cafeteria memories. The reason why I’m giving this place 2 stars is because I’m practically convinced that these waitresses don’t get paid much. I do not encourage anyone to visit an establishment where people are being paid very low. After I left a hefty tip on the credit card slip the waitress continued to ask me for a tip. Now that was not only embarrassing for me as a customer but I also felt really bad because I only had my credit card on me. I am convinced the owners withhold credit card tips from the waitresses. If you do decide to go to this buffet please leave a cash tip.

…Was getting sick again, so avoided this place for months. Decidedto give it another try since food is so good, and — wait for it — THEYCHANGEDCOOKS(or so I was told I think in broken English). Have now been happily returning, have been back 6 times since without illness. So again revamping review, hopefully for the last time. Although I still have to say that using Purell after every trip up is a great idea(think of how many hands have used their serving spoons, kids included), and maybe a cursory cleaning of your utensils before diving in is a must.

I gave this place three stars because I am obsessed with their coconut chicken. Also because my boyfriend loves the food. Don’t go late at night though because the food is gross. Their service is very mediocre too.

This is a tough one. Location is close, price is decent, selections are abundant…, but it feels like a prision cafeteria with the other restaurant goers that you find there. The plaza itself is pretty rough… I mean, you have homeless, panhandlers, …mothers either dragging babies around by the arm or not walking near their babies(in traffic) at all… loud, vulgar conversations … just a scary place to eat. The chicken teriyaki and egg rolls are amazing and not greasy at all, and you dont find coconut chicken or green and red bell pepper sushi just anywhere. It makes it almost worth wondering if you’ll be shanked on the way up for ambrosia salad!

The real draw is the sushi and sashimi. The sushi chef is very good and make your order to your specifications. In love the salmon sashimi and tofu skin sushi with shrimp. The wait staff is a little nutty. Most are from Fuzhou in Communist China, but for the most part, they’re ok.

Mediocre in both taste and offering, plus the dinner buffet(which had nothing«special») was $ 12. The General’s chicken was slathered in sauce, the egg rolls were bland, and the sushi was pretty tasteless. The staff was great, though, and the place was nice. I just wish I could say the same for the food. Very, very average.

Well, The cost isnt the cheapest.(12 $ p/person).but the waitors are very attentive… Buffett had the most diverse I have ever seen in the area. Overall quality is pretty good for a buffet… travelled ½ hour to get here. Not disappointed, but not sure if I would travel again.
