This place is a perfect representation of a mountain grub hut. They’ve got a huge BBQ out front which gets that BBQ smell everywhere. It’s smells great! Inside is decent sized. They have a bar area, a main dining area and a patio. The patio however is through the kitchen. Which isn’t bad unless you’re okay with peeking behind the curtains to see where your food is coming from. Staff was great. Bartender was on the snarky side but it worked. Ha, it added to the ambiance. I wouldn’t say come out of your way to eat here but if you’re in the area, give this place a go. Just don’t ask for a cocktail that has more than 3 ingredients.

I’ve been here twice now… Once as a vegetarian and more recently as a vegan. Yup! I came to a steak pit as a VEGAN… Why? Totally not my choice. We were visiting family in Lake Arrowhead and well, they had a different idea of what a vegan was/ate. The waitress was friendly and did tell us that 2 vegans had walked in there today and walked right out after seeing the menu. Unfortunately, we did not have the option of leaving so had to make way with what was offered. So as a vegan, we ate the house salad which was rather small and consisted of iceberg lettuce, a single cherry tomato and 2 slices of cucumber… With Italian dressing. We had the waitress check the label on the bottle to make sure it was something we could eat. The other option for dressing was some kind of a «soy– olive oil» dressing. Since the tiny salad wasn’t enough we also ordered the sautéed mushrooms and asked for no cheese. The mushrooms were drenched in olive oil… Perhaps the cook missed the boat on sautéing. Meat may be your specialty but I can assure you veggies are not. Their French fries are not fried in a dedicated drier– so they are not vegan. Anyhow, they don’t have any craft beers here but more of the traditional American light beers(Budweiser, Coors) with a few bottled foreign beers(Heineken, Hanger 24). The waitress was completely understanding and answered all our questions regarding food, so kudos to her. She also bluntly said this was no place for a vegan– something our family needed to hear(and understand). Trust me– I know but we came here for our family not by choice. This place caused me so much anxiety over what to eat since we left there hungry only to go back to cabin and eat a PB sandwich(ssshhhh!). I’m so glad the beer was vegan, lol. The time before, we came here as vegetarians(about a year ago) we had only a few more food options(again being a smoke house for meat). The fish was way too fishy I recall… And the veggies were frozen and not fresh(a weird soggy combo). I particularly remember the corn on the cob being awful. The soup was also no Bueno. The salad seemed descent and the meat lovers in our party enjoyed the brisket. Overall, not the healthiest choice for food, but again, to each his own. The bar itself has nice old fashioned pub décor. There’s a juke box and a pool table. The venue is nice and this place would be cool to just come for drinks. Stay away if you’re a vegan, you’ll seriously starve to death.

We are in Crestline often and have frequented Stockade. It is a great, cozy mountain bar — just the type you want to walk into and warm up with a whiskey on a cold evening. Bindi is our favorite bartender and the servers are all above-and-beyond nice. Personally, I love the ribs, burgers and chicken and curly fries. Pull up a tree-stump stool, put your jams on the juke box and be transported immediately out of SoCal!

Love it. Great people and cold beer. Just went this weekend and found out we could go out back on the patio and eat, drink and have a good time. It got even better!

OK… I am a semi-regular here. First of all the staff at the Stockade are totally nice and friendly. Kudos out to everyone there. Not for the food… Either the food is bad or excellent depending on what you order. If your order the salads, BBQ and burgers then you are fine. The rest of the food you are taking your chances. One word of advice… Do not order the steak. If you order a steak from the menu you will end up with gristle. If you order the daily special steak you will be paying $ 35 for a piece of old though cow. I always come for the BBQ! Nom!

This place serves some of the best ribs and brisket in all of Southern California! I can’t vouch for any of the other meals. Service has always been decent and I really enjoy the décor. When family or friends from down the hill visit, we usually go to Stockade for ribs, brisket and chicken. They always leave happy!

A friend told me this was the spot to go for dinner in Crestline, so while here for the weekend I took the family. The décor is old west/hillbilly/redneck which suited me perfectly. The smoker out front was apparently full of brisket that was cooking for the next night and smelled awesome. We had onion rings as an appetizer, not bad but nothing to write home about. My wife and I had their house salad with their Apple-walnut dressing, which we thought was really good. My daughter and I both had the blackened top sirloin with shrimp. We each ordered our steak medium rare but it arrived closer to medium well. The shrimp was also over cooked and a bit rubbery. My wife had the pork chop on special, also overdone. On a brighter note, the ribs that my son ordered were excellent! All in all, I can’t highly recommend the Stockade. It wasn’t bad but wasn’t anything to write home about. I’d like to try the brisket and see if it’s as good as the ribs. Next time we are in town we just might, but this one was a fairly expensive($ 125.00) meal for four that was only mediocre.

Honestly, I love a good dive bar. It’s the atmosphere, relaxed bar tenders and the fair prices that I look for. And more often than not you get a pretty tasty meal to boot. Not looking to bang on the service which was both friendly and expected for this type of place. The bar tender was very inviting and the atmosphere is very rustic. The cook was a very pleasant person and brought us some very tasty habanero sauce that was house made. And they are why we gave this place the two stars. The beer was cold and the vegetable soup, although over salted, had a good taste. But that is where it ended. Just a side note and thought. If a business offers an item on the menu, why not ensure it is done well? Why offer items that are clearly out of the realm of less than delicious just so you can offer it? Why not maintain a core menu and do it well? My wife had a top sirloin. She does like it medium well, which I think is a shame to do to any steak. And with this cut of meat, you expect a tougher cut, especially at that temperature. The steak was butterflied and charred and was cooked medium well. But the meat had literally no flavor and resembled a shoe heel. The sides she had were the French fries and vegetables. Fries were delicious, which tells me that this place may be the spot for a simple burger and fries. The vegetables were over cooked and seemed like out of a can. I was not particularly hungry and decided on a chef salad. It’s a chef salad! How can you mess that up? While the lettuce, cucumber and tomato were fresh and tasty the turkey and ham were nothing short of disgusting. My stomach literally turned as I attempted to ingest this vomitous mess. I know that Crestline is not a dining Mecca and expectations should be marginal. But the food really was horrible by any definition. Quite possibly the worst meal I have ever had. And that says a lot.

89 Reviews. 4 out of 5 stars. Maybe I had the wrong address. Check my other reviews. I’m a pretty optimistic person and always try to be fair and many times forgiving of issues because life is too short. I have great blood pressure, no worries and life is good. Honesty, in my opinion??? Take your $ 4.95 breakfast and shove it straight up your rear end. Guess it was just my time. Too much bullshit in one visit to even write about. Speaking only for me, I will gladly go to a couple other local restaurants for breakfast and pay two or three times more for what I want served without a truckload of excuses in an environment that is more pleasing for a meal. So for the 89 reviews with 4 stars I say God bless and keep eating here so the other places won’t get overcrowded. Word.

The best thing about this restaurant was the salad dressing. Overpriced, small portions. Bland food. Baked beans tasted like they were from a can. I would not go back there again even though I live in the area.

Editing review; Walked in at 130 on a friday, with my family from down the hill. We approached the dining section, and the bartender rudely yelled at us «we dont serve lunch after 2.» Not only did the bartender rudely single us out in front of about 30 patrons in the bar, it was not even close to 2! Talk about alienating a good customer! If I owned this establishment, I would immediately fire this staff member; this is coming from a business owner. You really ought to rethink your goals and the direction of your business — otherwise you are on the road to total failure. Never never let someone represent the face of a business who has zero personal skills. ______________________________ We have been coming here for 3+ years. it’s always the smoker in front that lures us back in! We found that the food is good, but inconsistent. As is the service. One good meal, one bad. One great server, one okay. Never consistant. Food quality has tapered off over the past few years, as many restaraunts do. We do like the nostalgia this place infuses when you enter, but the ratings seem high for the actual experience it delivers. I’m still a fan of the breakfast specials!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. Western style décor and the food was amazing. I had the steak and eggs with a side of their homemade bbq sauce. Wow that sauce was amazing. We also order French toast, burgers(big sizes), and basic bfast such as eggs and bacon. Food was very tasty and large amounts for the price. Will come back. Plus the service was amazing… I didn’t get the waitress name but everyone in there was nice and professional.

This place has been in Crestline forever and we used to go quite a bit. On a trip back we stopped in and it was taco tuesday. I had the pork tacos and thought they were very good. Our service was a little but our server was overloaded. I want to try the BBQ out next time.

I’m a city boy who loves the mountain life, so finding this cozy and«antiquish» place is something out of a movie or book. Great vibe when you enter and look to see a mix of locals and flatlanders! I do enjoy the scenery of a unique place and this one is on my top list. Plenty of TV’s to catch the games or highlights. You can enjoy the simplicity of the menu and order with ease. The burgers are top notch and if you enjoy that char flavor then you are in for a treat. Of course the main squeeze is the brisket, which melts in your mouth with that perfect BBQ sauce that is slathered all over. If you are in this neck of the woods, you and your friends need to stop in for some pool, awesome drinks and food that will put you into a food coma!

Stopped on to the Stockade this past Saturday for a few beers and a few appetizers. We had a great time mingling with the regulars and the friendly bartender named Laura. This was not our first time at the Stockade as we were there for a quick beer this past Memorial day weekend. This time however we were in the Arrowhead/Crestline area without our wives and children and had some time to kill. They should absolutely, positively advertise«Coldest Beer» around because it is ICYCOLD! We had a few appetizers and the food was excellent! It is unfortunate that we did not have more time to hang out and try the brisket which was being prepared out front of the place. Definitely on our to do list next time we are in the area!!! We did leave a signed dollar stapled above the bar, and we will make sure we do the same on our next visit! To sum it up, great place, COLD beer, delicious food, friendly staff and locals!
