The food is always so good there, my wife went with my sister and mom tonight and we each had separate dishes that were just amazing I had the Pescado Guerrero, my wife had The Monterrey and they allowed her to switch out the Chile Relano for another Enchilada with no up charge. My sister had the Pork Tenderloin Abrigada it was cooked perfectly and again they allowed substitutions with no charge, my Mom went the simple route with Grande Burrito and they are not kidding it is huge. Everyone had leftovers except me due to the amount of food they were given. The only problem was it took a while to get our food and it was slow tonight but when we asked our server for more of the 2 salsas we liked she brought out bowls of them for us so we got leftovers of those too! Great food had it come out quicker would have been 5 stars.

Good food. Very friendly, yet forgetful and somewhat slow staff. The atmosphere is nice, complete with statues and interesting murals on the walls. A bit pricey, however their portions are fitting to the price you pay. You definitely get your money’s worth. Overall good place.

Somewhere between a 2.5 and a 3. Service was amazing so rounding it up. Tex-Mex isn’t exactly my thing so keep that in mind. That being said the flavors were just mediocre. I loved the salsa sampler that they bring you to start. The green was quite good. The chicken chimichanga appetizer was ok. Tasted a bit like something you would get frozen. We split the Monterrey and it was HUGE. Even with two we still left half of it. It included 4 or 5 different enchiladas, 2 sides, guacamole, a taco, and a chili relleno. The Chili Relleno was definitely the best. It has a good flavor a texture. Everything else was fairly underwhelming. The tortillas were exceptionally bland and the filling were good but again flavors you could get out of the freezer aisle. It was a filling and inexpensive lunch but we will probably not return.

Went here for lunch on a weekday for the first time with few customers & no wait. Loved the mix & match choices of enchiladas, sauces, sides & combo platters. The menu is huge, so there’s something for everyone, whether you want something really spicy, or, like me, not spicy at all. Loved their thin, crunchy tortilla chips which come(free) with a 3-salsa sampler. I wanted something super cheesy & leftovers for dinner, so got the 4 enchilada plate, 2 cheese &2 chicken, some with mild sour cream sauce & some with plain queso sauce(a recommendation by our server as plain queso wasn’t listed.) Both sauces were nice & light & the chicken was marinated & deeply flavorful. A choice of two sides came with it. I ordered different & delicious peppery mashed potatoes & rice that actually had flavor. My husband loved his carnita enchilada(had chicken too) & would go back for more carnitas.

Food is fantastic and served in large portions. The dips for the chips are great– especially the tomatillo. It may be green but it is delicious Highly recommend

Early weekday dinner, so there was no crowd to speak of. Loved their salsa selection and chips, especially the fact that their chips are thin and not salty. We were there so I could try what has become one of his favorite meals, shredded beef stuffed chile rellenos. He has good taste. It was good. I also had one stuffed with cheese. Portions were a good size, but I guess I’m accustomed to big, huge, fat stuffed pablanos where there’s enough to take home. Beans were good, rice was so-so. Service was good. I’d like to go back and try other things on the menu as well, and maybe go for happy hour and have a cocktail or two. The atmosphere and décor were gorgeous, and the restaurant was clean and well-lit. We especially liked the Ziosks on the table for entertainment and convenience of payment. I’m sure we’ll be back.

I come here because I enjoy sitting on the patio during happy hour. Their frozen margaritas are 3 dollars and they also have specials on their appetizers. I like the fact they have free chips and 3 different salsas to try. I always order their beef enchilada plate with fire sauce because they never have messed up my simple order. Other times I’ve ordered the fajita and they did not taste good the beef was undercooked. The enchiladas are the only thing on the food menu that is priced accordingly, Everything else seems to high of a price for the quality of food. Enchiladas are good and the happy hour options are good

Ordered Los Majores de la Casa(the best of the house). The food was warm not fresh and hot. The waiter talked about having so much restaurant experience, yet our guest had to leave while I waited for at least 15 more minutes to pay. Finally took our check to the hostess. Not great food or service. Go to a chain expect chain quality/service.

Went here for Valentine’s Day this year and it was delicious. The staff was kind but could have been more organized.

Not too bad and great service. I had the pork tenderloin which was okay. I wish they had a better beer selection especially craft beers.

Abuelos, ah Abuelos… how I love they yet how I loathe thee… Having visited Abuelos many times over the past few years I’m always have an inner conflict, you see the quality, portion size and service are there, yet most dishes there are well…“eh”… Not bad, not authentic, not memorable, that’s it! Not Memorable! The chicken medallions are ok, the glazed pork acceptable, the street tacos decent, the enchiladas not any of the above(were’d they come up with that pale yellow cheese sauce?) But wait! There is some salvation in their enchilada line up. I stumbled across the enchilada stacks hidden in an obscure part of the menu(I think it was written upside down and backwards in a lost Inca language) these are stacked soft corn tortillas with layers of cheese in between(or grandpas has bean and beef) then topped with a wonderful enchilada sauce on one half and green chile sauce on the other. I recommend forking over a few bucks and top it with two eggs cooked to you liking.(Over easy, break the yolks and let the magic begin) This dish has rocketed to near the top of my favorite Mexican dishes on my list(ok favorite in the Midwest. Nothing compares to the southwest) Give it a shot. My dog Steve had no comment as no remnants remained to bring home.

None of the fire exits appeared to be blocked. Nothing else about my dinner here tonight was positive.

Went to this location for a date night. On a beautiful Friday night, we were able to get seated on the patio within about 15 minutes. Our waiter was truly awesome, he was so friendly. When we asked about sharing one of their platters(the Monterey), he said«YES. If I brought that out for one of you you’d be mad at me!» I love it when servers are honest that a meal is better shared, instead of just trying to up your bill for a bigger tip. The food was good, we were glad to get to try a bunch of stuff. The fried pepper was the best thing on the plate, in my opinion. To drink I had their sangria, which I like a lot. I also always forget that they serve beer in goblets– love that! By the time we were done eating, we were the only ones on the patio– they close at 10 on the weekends! But our server didn’t rush us at all. This is a good stop for a casual, low key meal out.

I’m vegan so my selection was limited. Although they have a new menu, the quantity is less than before but the price is the same. Therefore, you are getting less for your money. Food quality is average.

I’ve been to Abuelo’s a few times years ago. I remember liking it, but since then I have had to stop eating gluten. They do have a gluten-sensitive menu, so that’s nice, but not for Celiacs. I have not been diagnosed Celiac, but I am extremely sensitive(now that I’m cleansed of it). Bad things happen. One thing that bothers me, and this happens in most restaurants I have noticed, is that I told the server I couldn’t have gluten, but I don’t think they have a protocol for that. Like, I have worked places where you HAVE to modify your order with a *gluten allergy*(or whatever allergy) in the computer when you order anything for that person and tell the kitchen and the manager. Just so everyone is on the same page and that no mistakes are made. I am about 100% sure that this measure was not taken. I actually didn’t order from the gluten-sensitive menu. We ordered bacon-wrapped shrimp stuffed with cheese and some jalepenos as an appetizer. They were really good. That is on the G-S menu as a fajita option, we ordered the small plate version from the regular menu. I ordered the Tilapia Veracruz. It was… not bad… not great. I actually began to worry after ordering that it may be lightly dusted with flour, because some restaurants do that when searing, especially a fragile fish like tilapia. But, I took the chance, and my stomach didn’t hurt fifteen-twenty minutes later, so I guess it was fine. The veggies that came with it were bland, but fresh, so maybe just a little flavoring would help a lot. The cilantro lime rice was also kinda bland. Overall, the dish was okay and I ate it. My husband had some combo with a taco and like an enchilada or something. He liked it. My kids shared a quesadilla that came with rice and beans. They pretty much liked it. We ended up ordering the Flan. It was very good. Overall, everything was satisfactory. The service was fine. It wasn’t really busy, it was a lunch on Sunday. I think it was overpriced, we ended up spending over $ 50 on lunch with a tip. That kinda hurt, but I knew it wasn’t cheap like other Mexican places. Still… that’s pricey for 2 lunches, 1 kids meal, a small plate app, and the dessert. We may go back sometime for dinner, and definitely order some more of the bacon wrapped shrimp! The décor is beautiful… although the mural on the back wall is… a little creepy.

While not outright terrible, it was pretty lackluster. Guacamole tasted off and like it came from a bag. I didn’t care for the salsas. Dinner left me feeling heavy but not entirely full — the sides were mediocre. I’d pass on this one.

Been here several times, always good. They have a gluten free menu now, awesome options. They even baked up some tortilla chips for a gluten free table. We had a great server, young man who was very helpful. He knew the gluten free menu and vegetarian options and worked hard to keep us happy. The veggie fajita was awesome, can get with corn tortillas. The guacamole salad is excellent. The green salsa is outstanding. I had the original chicken fajita, it was very plain, the veggies were under cooked. But, it was edible and ok.

Love, love, love this place. First off, it’s beautiful… And the food is delicious. It’s very reasonable too — $ 25 for two. Our waitress was perfect. She brought us out three salsas and mixed a couple for us to try. She was right on time for each thing we needed. The cheesecake has a caramel sauce that was superb. I can’t wait to go back.

From start to finish, this was pretty awful. We had guacamole that was the worst version of the dip I’ve ever had. We asked the server if the tortilla soup was spicy. She said no. Our mouths say yes. My «salad» looked more like it should have had nacho chips all underneath it. Nothing on the plate was fresh. Water glasses were not refilled in a timely manner, and the server ignored our request for refills. And to top it all off… we waited nearly 15 minutes for the check before we went to find the server. For a lunch service, that amount of time is completely unacceptable. We come to this area a lot for business meals, and we will definitely never be returning to Abuelo’s.
