I have thinning, naturally color hair that is difficult to work with. Christy does a wonderful job! I love the nice shampoo they do and prices are comparable to other salons. Aveda products are great. I can only attest to cut/style but I’m really happy there.

After Emerson left, Nicole has stepped in and done a fantastic job. I still don’t have a need for any fancy services, but I always walk away from the store feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

I have gone to Tanya’s for almost 10 years and will never go anywhere else. Tanya is an amazing stylist and person of integrity. She runs a professional salon and always goes the extra mile in making sure every customer is happy.

Fyi, I go to LUCID to Paula for cut and style and Danielle for color. I always receive compliments on my hair and haven’t found a better place.

Crestview Hills — A waste of time. I’ve gotten my hair cut only once from here and that was enough. The entire right side of my head was not layered and I had to go back to get a different stylist to fix it. I have gotten two manicures from here and essentially I paid $ 40(plus tip) for a polish change. The first girl(Cat) merely pushed my cuticles back when they clearly needed to be trimmed and spent more time giving me a hand massage than anything. I tried again with a different girl(Kaitlin), who almost paid no attention to my cuticles at all until I said something to her, and I still had to reshape my nails after I got home because they were crooked and uneven. This is not the place to go if you want someone to pay attention to what they are doing… or you want what you’re paying for.

I used to go there a lot. It seemed that every stylist I went to left. I eventually ended up traveling for business a lot and just went where I had a chance to go. Then I decided to go to Mitchell’s Salon in Kenwood. It is very good and professional. I just got tired of the drive so I decided to give Tanya’s another shot. Well, the first time was good. Then the second time was bad. Not only did she give me an uneven cut– where the right side layers are shorter then the left. Due to stress my eczema/dermatitis was acting up and she treated me like I was something nasty/highly contagious. For the record, it is hereditary and not contagious. I was just warning her to be cautious. She took it as I was highly contagious and proceeded to give me a bad haircut. Call your doctor she said… Well, I did and now I am going back to Mitchell’s in Kenwood(they too know Curly Hair) to have my hair fixed. Oh, the lady at Mitchell’s also helped me with products for my scalp. I have just had a bad experience there…

As a woman with naturally curly hair, finding a stylist is more like a quest than a mere beauty routine. Every place you go, you ask for someone who knows how to cut curly hair only to be told, «oh, all of our staff knows how to cut all hair types». That’s like saying every artist knows how to paint in every style… simply not true! Anyway, curly girl rant aside, I think I may have finally found a stylist who actually knows how to cut and style my hair. It probably helps that she personally has naturally curly hair so can relate. My most recent visit was my first appointment at this salon and with Maria, my new curly-hair soulmate, and despite running late(wedding/traffic), she was professional and friendly and had a good balance of listening and suggestion. The experience at this Aveda salon starts with the standard in-chair consult and then moves to the shampoo room where you have the choice of a «mini-facial» or hand & arm massage while your hair is washed. I went for the massage and it was pretty darn pampering to have one person washing my hair and another massaging me simultaneously. The shampoo chair is also more of chaise lounge so you can really relax instead of awkwardly craning your neck in a traditional shampoo chair. Back in the chair, the cutting commenced and I found Maria to be pleasantly talkative, but not overly chatty. She had a few specific tips and tricks for curly hair that she explained along the way through the process, including styling. At the end, she put me under a massive Sci-Fi looking dryer to set the curl, which did take a fairly long time(but probably comparable to a blow-out, just more relaxing). My hair was a bit more stiff/crunchy than I like it when first finished, but relaxed through the day and looked great by the time I went out that night. The price here is about $ 10 – 15 more expensive for a cut than my previous salon, but if this cut works out as well as I think it will, it will be worth it. Other than cost and the stylist being unavoidably late, the only other slight negative was that she kept pointing out and asking how great the experience was, which was slightly off-putting. I’m guessing it was just because it was my first time there, but it does somewhat detract from just enjoying the experience when someone keeps asking/telling you to do so.
