So sorry for the cashier! Unqualified to work the register and redeem coupons. I will return to a different location. Good food.

I went up to Oberweis for a small afternoon birthday celebration on a recent visit to St. Louis. I was familiar with the 50-year old family-run home-delivery services of ‘Simply the Best’ milk and super-premium ice cream… but had never actually eaten in the store. I was impressed! The shop is brightly-lit, clean and welcoming, and the customer-service attendant was very friendly and helpful. We had a large order with multiple people paying… and the whole process went very smoothly. Within minutes, we were«noming» on the amazingly delicious shakes, sundaes, cones, and cakes that we had ordered. Here’s the online menu for«Fountain» treats! On an upcoming visit to the STL, I will definitely return!

I love my Fro-yo, Oberweis is just a plan old ice cream place. And the key lime pie shake was totally articially flavored.

The best thing about Oberweis is that the ice cream really is amazing. So much flavor. That said, the service is really slow. First you order, then you sit and wait for a while until they fill your order and call your name. I don’t really understand why there is a delay between ordering and them handing you the ice cream… I’ve never seen it done this way at any other ice cream place. My other complaint is that I’m visual, and I like to look at the ice cream to decide what flavor I want. At Oberweis, they keep all of the ice cream in the back and you have to order from a list on the menu. They’ll give you tastes, but it makes me feel uncomfortable to ask for more than one taste since they have to keep walking in the back each time. One other plus… they deliver. Seriously. If you get an ice cream craving all you have to do is call and order a minimum of $ 10. That’s a couple of people getting an ice cream… or if you are by yourself, you can just get a pint for later. I haven’t actually ever called for delivery, but the fact that you can earns this place bonus points from me.

Super rich, super delicious. My boyfriend considers himself a cookies and cream connoisseur, and called the cookies and cream at Oberweis… «The Best!» Enough said. This isn’t fro-yo, it’s not low cal. But it’s daaaang good.

Pros: Clean, bright store. Friendly employees. Fast turnaround on a moderately busy summer evening. Cons: It was FREEZING inside and there are no tables outside. Yeah, I’m a weather wuss but it ruins my ice cream experience when I’m already shivering. Plus it was a tad on the expensive side. I shared a large brownie sundae and was expecting a tower of deliciousness for $ 7.59. Instead we were handed a large glass bowl that was only about half full. For the money, I’m probably more inclined to head to coldstone down the road unless I’m there to catch a movie.

Oh but this place is deadly good! It reminds me of back in the day when ice cream parlors where abundant. Malts, shakes, root beer floats, waffle cones, dipped waffle cones, milk in real glass bottles, take home pre-packaged ice creams. And flavors that take you back to your childhood(it was cookies n cream in a chocolate dipped waffle bowl for hubby). I personally make a bee line for the dulce de leche ice cream in a plain waffle bowl, go sit at a table, and eat while softly humming a nice little happy tune. You cannot go wrong here — nope! It is impossible to go wrong here. If you do not like the ice cream here then your taste buds have died and given up the ghost.

Really the milk and ice cream is sooo good, the best I have ever had, which is why they are actually getting my 5 stars. But they are expensive, at least their milk is. I guess this is not saying much as I haven’t had ice cream for like a year and I barely drink milk. The last time I tasted something so rich, probably way fattening was in Pennsylvania at the creamery on Penn State’s campus. I tasted their strawberry(pretty good), butter brickle(so good, so yummy, rich butter flavor, toffee hints, ahhh my mouth is already watering), mint chip(cool refreshing, but also rich, creamy, and oh so yummy). Their chocolate milk is like liquid sin for adults — it is creamy, rich, with nice chocolate flavor but not so sweet it makes you sick.

I had never heard of this place before. I just pass it everyday because its across the street from my apt. I would have never known that they sell ice cream if it wasn’t for a co worker who mentioned it today at work. I decided it’s Friday, I have nothing better to do. Might as well go taste some ice cream. I walked into Oberweis and I kinda felt like it was like any other chain ice cream parlor. It can really be compared to baskin robbins, ben and jerrys or coldstones. I got the kids scoop of cookie dough. It was good. not outstanding. not to die for. I would go again just based on the fact that its super close and the kiddie scoop is only 2.15

I feel blah about this place and I don’t like to feel blah about my ice cream. We went here once when they were«busy», which meant there were 5 people in front of us. The manager was hysterical. I don’t mean hysterical funny, I mean hysterical running around like a lunatic and shouting at her employees. The employees were fine. They were calm, even professional. I’m sure they thought this woman(their boss!) was INSANE. When we got up to take our turn, she was blabbering to all the customers about having patience b/c they were«very busy». I hope it was her first night on the job and for some reason she was given a manager position with no prior experience required. The ice cream was alright. Nothing remarkable. I completely support their dairy(with the no hormones) products, that’s nice. Their milk comes in glass bottles(½ gallon size). We used to have it delivered, but it’s CRAZY expensive. Now we just get Trader Joe’s milk(much more economical and no hormones)!
