This isn’t so much a review of the actual park, but rather a review of the humans who attend the park. New to the area, I brought my large puppy there mid-afternoon. The general majority attempting to keep up with their dogs every step in failing attempts to make them act like anything other than dogs was a futile act to observe. I can’t say the exact reason, because I do not know it, but a man became enraged and put his two dogs on leashes — in the middle of a crowd of dogs — in the middle of the park. As always, dogs swarm the newly leashed dogs in a curious attempt to play. The man became increasingly irate and began shouting at the dog who was still attempting to play with his dog, then shouting for the owner(moi) to «drop my fu*king cup and take care of my fu*king animal.» I can’t speak for the personal misery in this man’s life, god only knows how he must act in his own home, but everything about his actions were inappropriate. There was zero aggression between dogs, nobody was being hurt. If the intent was to be stuck up about your two holier than thau dogs, perhaps you should instead stay at home and teach them to drink tea and talk politics. Oh wait, they’re dogs. Lest we forget. Caught so off guard for the nothing wrong that happened to you, I couldn’t think of any words to say back that didn’t have more expletives than you had already broadcasted throughout the family oriented dog park. Perhaps next time, keep your rage and anger issues in your own life, berate and abuse the ones closest to you rather than strangers and literally a puppy. I know you were so concerned with the well being of my puppy, don’t fret, he’s absolutely fine. Because he’s a dog, and playing is what dogs do in a dog park. Sorry your life sucks so much you have outbursts in public, perhaps consider changing your tampon prior to arriving to the park in the future. xo

I stopped by this park for the first time last week to check out the changing colors in the trees and just get a little quiet time with a good book and was really happy I did. Sitting alongside the pond with the geese and the little nip to the fall air was exactly what I needed to recharge. As adults, we spend so much time rushing here and there and trying to «get things done,» that we don’t recharge enough so that we can actually be productive later. I think we think it’s just slacking or something, which is not the case. I digress, but the moral of the story is with beautiful parks like this one that are close to everything, we should take more time to appreciate them and stop and smell the roses… Uh, well, the leaves. Crofton Park is a great place to do that. There are play areas for kids as well, of course, but if you just need a little alone time like me or you want time with your significant other, this is a great and convenient park to sneak away to!

This is a quiet and clean little community park. They offer two play areas perfect for younger kids. There is also a large swing area, a fort made out of sticks and plenty of shade. The pond area looked very green and murky, but the geese didn’t seem to mind. We walked along the path which takes you past the baseball diamond and the theatre area. My biggest complaint was the lack of signs showing you where to go. You just have to take the path and see where you end up. Altogether, a fun afternoon at the park.

This is my favorite park to go to when I want some outdoor peaceful adult time. It has a couple nice little children’s play areas, so it’s not bad for the kids, but what really draws me here are the trails. Especially in autumn, the trails here are extensive and the scenery is beautiful. There are a few little hidden areas you have to go out of your way to find, but it’s worth the walking and very peaceful. Good for dogs or romantic walks. Also, there’s a nice little pond area with a fountain in the middle, also a nice touch. Great for picnics as well. I never see shifty people hanging around, which is a huge plus and part of what sets this park apart from some other ones in the area.

Crofton Park has two very nice play structures that are almost entirely shaded — great for those hot Maryland days when you need to get the kids out of the house so they don’t destroy the furniture or what remains of your sanity. There are plenty of picnic tables and places to grill around the play area, which is convenient. They also have a nice(tame, paved, and short) set of nature trails that wind through the woods and around the ball fields. There are restrooms here, they’re by the football fields about a five minute walk from the playground.
