She does a great job on nails, but it is difficult to get an appointment. I had originally purchased a Groupon for 2 manicures and 2 pedicures. I too followed the Groupon’s instructions for redeeming and it took me forever to get my call returned. I feel like it’s misleading to call this place a salon as it is a one woman operation inside of Sola Salon Studios. The only real complaint I have about the service I received was that she doesn’t use a regular pedicure chair and instead uses a plastic tub which she fills up, and the water was freezing by the time she got to my pedicure.(She put my feet in to soak while she did my manicure.)

GREATGREATGREAT… I had an extremely wonderful experience at this salon. One on one service is so rare these days. To actually have someone who doesn’t talk on the phone or to other people who just walk in while doing your manicure and pedicure was amazing. I purchased a Groupon for a gel manicure and also booked a pedicure. Phenomenal job on both. Booking online was simple. The service was great. When I got turned around with the location the owner answered the phone on the first ring to help me find the place. This place is focused on you and the service you are receiving. Book in advance… SHEISTHATGOOD… and this is not a place you can just walk in without an appointment. I will be returning.

I ran into a very similar issue as Sharon C. on this page. This review is specifically for individuals who purchased a Groupon or are thinking about purchasing a Groupon for this business. I purchased a Groupon for a Gel manicure a couple of weeks ago, and never even made it into the spa. I recently moved to the area, and was searching for a new place for nail services and possibly waxing as well. I also noticed that she did facials, etc. and I was thinking about checking out those services after my nail appointment. Unfortunately, I ran into persistent issues trying to book an appointment. When I found the offer on Groupon for a $ 19 gel manicure, I read the terms and conditions. It stated, «Appointment required, same day appointments accepted.» I needed a manicure ASAP that week, so I was happy to hear that they accepted same day appointments. Just FYI, the whole«same day appointment» thing is not true. More info below. So after I purchased the Groupon, the email I received confirming my purchase stated the following: «How to Use 1. Pull up Groupon with our mobile app(or print it out). 2. Appointment required, call(301)-346−4748 and mention your Groupon. 3. Present Groupon upon arrival. 4. Enjoy!» I followed the instructions as stated. I called the number on the Groupon email about four or five times and my calls went unanswered and kept going to voicemail. I then started getting nervous because I was worried that I had been cheated out of my money by purchasing this Groupon(I had a similar experience about a year ago with yoga classes in Baltimore where I was unable to make an appointment). So I Googled the spa’s website on my phone and found a link to make an appointment. The link wouldn’t work on my phone and I was unable to go forward. So I waited until I got home to use my laptop, due to technical issues with the mobile site. As I stated before, the Groupon instructions don’t say to book online but I thought this may be another way to do so. So I went online and it required me to put in all this persona information to create an account with a website to book an appointment. I was desperate so I made an account. Then I discovered, after I inputed all my personal information, that there were no appointments available for an entire week. «Same day appointments available» turned out to be untrue. As was«How to Use» the Groupon instructions. I was frustrated at this point, because most if not all of the appointment times available were inconvenient on the days I was available. I was willing to just book for the future and go somewhere else to get my nails done in the mean time, since I had an event to go to – just so I wouldn’t lose my money. I ended up booking an appointment for this week, but then discovered I also wouldn’t be able to make this appointment time. I tried using the website to reschedule but it wouldn’t work. I called the number again to try to reschedule. No answer. I was never even contacted to confirm the appointment I had, and the voicemail that I left with my name and number went unanswered to this day. I see from other reviews that if you actually make it in for an appointment, you get great services. It is unfortunate that there are two potential customers that the business lost due to poor customer service(possibly others who don’t bother to write a Unilocal review). If the business is overwhelmed, it should say so on its website or on the Groupon so that the«same day appointment» is removed. Really, it should say«same week appointments not available or limited appointments until x date. Lastly, please just pick up your phone and also call back customers who bother to leave a voicemail. If you are searching for nail services in the area, I recommend Avalon II nails on Route 3 in Crofton. Great service and only $ 38 for a mani/pedi. Very nice location as well, it is recently renovated. I went there instead of State of Relaxation after my failed attempts of getting in contact with the owner at the number provided on my Groupon/the website. I have contacted Groupon and hope I can get my refund, if not, I will just have to lose the money I paid upfront for the Groupon because I refuse to go get services from a business that doesn’t even bother to respond to a voicemail or answer the phone. It reflects poorly on any other future/potential customer service.

Love, love, love this place! I’m a regular and I’m always 100% satisfied with my services. You definitely have to book appointments in advance because the service is that great. I’ve never received a better Mani/pedi!!! Thank you for quality service. Forever a customer!

State of Relaxation is a new business, with excellent one on one customer service. Even though there are no drop in/walk in services its because she caters to her clients one by one, she does not rush her craft or ur services. I have never had a problem with scheduling an appointment, I highly recommend this MUA/nail tech/her stylist she definitely can bring you back to life

I recently went to State of Relaxation for a special event I was having that night. I heard about this salon from a friend and she came highly recommended. I booked my appointment two weeks in advance online to make sure that She would be available for the services I needed. The day of my appointment there was a terrible storm and I had trouble finding the place but when I called the salon the owner answered and directed me where I needed to go. When I entered there were two other clients there. One was getting her nails done and the other was finishing up. I was running late anyway because of the storm and apparently the other clients had been too so it was ok. Although she had other customers there the owner was still very pleasant and had engaging conversation and still made me feel special on my special day. I have natural hair and I am always concerned when visiting a new stylist that they won’t know how to deal with my super thick hair and all my concerns went away when she started my service. My hair was LAID and fabulous! Even with the humidity and rain outside my hair lasted for at least a week even after partying all night long! The clients who were there getting their nails done were super cute too. I hadn’t seen 3D nails done in person and it was like watching art. I wasn’t able to get all my services because of timing but I will definitely be back to get my massage! I would just suggest making your appointment well in advance since this salon is usually booked. She has an online website that makes it easy to see what times are available when you’re ready to come in.

Pathetic customer service. Whenever I called, there were no appointments or no one answers as well as no callbacks. I went by at 11am on a Saturday when most salons are bustling and there was no one there, no sign on the door indicating a lunch break or unforeseen closing outside of the posted hours. My efforts to make an appointment for a mani/pedi went on over the course of a few weeks. I stopped by on a Thursday afternoon and the shop owner was there doing a pedicure. I knocked and slid the door open and introduced myself as a new customer and the services I was interested in and she replied that she was busy and could I go online and make an appointment. I respect that she was doing a pedicure but at the very least, she could have asked me to write my number down or inquire about how soon I wanted to receive services. Even the most robust of businesses have a sense of tact when trying to accommodate new customers. After standing there and blinking twice I slowly walked back to my car wondering what just happened. I get home and pulled up the salon’s website only to be told that I had to log in using Facebook. Well, I’m probably one of the few Unilocalers that don’t Facebook and I definitely wasn’t making an account for a single salon visit. What logic is there in requiring patrons to only be able to make appointments via one means? So by now, I’m done trying to give State Of Relaxation my business. I hope that the owner sees this, remembers me and realizes that all customers matter. Needless to say I took my coins elsewhere; they obviously weren’t wanted at State of Relaxation.
