I am visiting the area. Walked in. Could not find my color. The only color I have used for 10 years. So the man at the front desk tells me that it must have been discontinued. No, I tell him. Not so. So I pick out something else. The technician is in such a hurry that she globs on the acrylic and then proceeds to file my cuticles with the machine until they bleed. Not going back and I will be here for two months.

I went to this salon with my new stepdaughter to break the ice with a teenager. I thought it would be a good way to bond. There were no customers and probably 5 employees sitting, doing nothing. I am not a paranoid person, but you know when the employees are saying derogatory things about you in their language? That’s what they were doing. I was immediately on guard and asked my stepdaughter if she wouldn’t mind going someplace else but she didnt understand why and I didnt want to explain. So against my better judgement, we stayed. BIGHUGEMISTAKE!!! The girls led us to the chairs for our pedi’s, placed our feet in the tub and then a party of 7 women walked in. The girl that was doing my pedi got up, greeted the women, seated them and then began to do a pedi on somebody else. Shocked and appalled, I said, «excuse me» 4 times before she would look at me,(while the other employees did look over). She very rudely announced, «she have appointment»! To which I replied, then you shouldn’t have started me. She turned back and continued what she was doing. After a full 20 mins, I got up, dried my feet, told my now mortified stepdaughter I would be waiting outside. I was furious and she was totally embarrassed! I was sitting on the bench outside waiting and 2 of the employees came out and tried to get me to come back in. I told them that I would not and that I would just pay for the other pedi and never come back. The older woman then proceeded to tell me that I was wrong and that everybody has to wait… REALLY??? Then, she told me this, «You don’t pay but you give tip to girl who wash your feet»!!! I won’t print my reply. DON’T EVERGOHERE! They came out to dress me down when they were clearly in the wrong. P. S.- My stepdaughter got 2 ingrown toenails to boot!!!

My friend and I pampered ourselves yesterday with a spa manicure and pedicure combo here for $ 35 each. That’s a great prices. The salon is clean and nicely decorated. The staffs are nice and skillful and experienced. We had a very relaxing time here and our nails look beautiful. My friend and I got nothing to complain and plan to do it again.

Love, love, love Crystal Nail and Spa. I’m a bit biased and will only see Gina or Anh. They are fabulous. I usually get a shellac manicure and a deluxe pedicure which is to die for. Gina and Anh are both very friendly and attentive, asking what you would like and giving you just that. I’ve had the same services by both and they do an amazing job. Service stations are clean as well as the restrooms and the only reason I can’t give it a 5th star is because the sink stations aren’t always as clean as the rest of the place!

I’d like to start this out by saying I’m a very nice person. Really. I smile when introducing myself, and retain politeness. I walked into Crystal Nails on my way to a conference in Boston. My costume was pink, so I needed a quick polish. Tina«greeted» me and curtly told me to pick a color. Wait time was short, but she looked completely put off as I took off my gloves and jacket, to the point where I feebly apologized. Speaking of apologizing, one of her regulars walked out to say goodbye, and her entire persona changed as she apologized to her — presumably, for being stuck with me. In a business where a lot of your income is based on tips(and believe me, I know about hustling), I was shocked. There were obvious upsales, and I politely — and again, I was keeping my composure — repeated I just wanted the basic polish. Then, with an attitude that made me anxious, she began forcing my cuticles out and around. I was about to ask her not to cut them, when she dug into my middle finger, not stopping as I repeatedly said«Ow.» I’m a pretty tough cookie, but there’s a point where you have to realize that maybe the tech was doing it on purpose. So the blood starts flowing out of my finger, and she says nothing. It’s my first cut cuticle, so I’m not sure what to expect. When I went to wash my hands and the other nail techs looked panicked at my finger, I realized maybe there was a problem. Especially when Tina kept curtly saying, «Just stick it under the water.» I thought, «Bitch, it HURTS when I do that», but followed her directions. So apparently, there’s some sort of magic gel you put on a bleeding cuticle to make it stop. I didn’t know it was going to feel like Satan took a bite of my nail, and she didn’t feel like warning me about the fact that it was going to sting. So when I Unilocaled a «FUCK!» out, I quickly apologized to the women around me. She tried to SUPERGLUEANOPENWOUND, and that’s when I lost it. I said, «NO. Don’t touch it. Just work around it.» The rest of the experience was met with rudeness, like I was a burden and not a paying customer. Clearly, I didn’t tip, and her service was so appalling that I was surprised she actually made me pay(which I did, because I’m not a complete asshole). Tl;dr: Tina was rude, thoughtless, and I essentially had to squeeze a begrudging«Sorry» out of her. My hands are an integral part of my business, and her actions seemed like she was taking some sort of disgruntled mood out on me. If you’re interested in seeing the nail in question, I took a picture of what it looked like when I left, and tagged their Facebook page in it. It bled for about 15 more minutes.

I’ve been here a few times recently and had good experiences. There is always plenty of staff on hand because the # of customers does ebb and flow on Saturdays, so that is nice. You don’t usually have to wait long. My only complaint is the constant upselling by the staff and manager/owner. If I come in and request a regular manicure, that is what I want. If I wanted a gel, I would request it. It’s extremely annoying, but if you can get past that, it’s not a bad place to go.

I went in for a Shellac manicure and chose a purple color. The manicurist, Queenly, painted my nails pink and told me it would turn purple with the CLEAR top coat. Of course, my nails are a shade of pink that is opaque and makes my hands look dirty. Queenly new I was unhappy and asked why, so I told her she painted my nails the wrong color and she called me an asshole.
