Great food and real friendly staff! Bartenders are fast and friendly. They also know how to make drinks properly! Nice mix of Karaōke and live bands on Friday and Saturday.

They may have good food, but we’ll never know. Walked into a cloud of smoke, walked out. Too bad, we had a taste for Irish food, but we just can’t tolerate the smoke while eating. Yuck.

There are certain places that are always my first choice when I’m in a certain area, and this is the one for when I’m in Michigan City. The food is always flavorful and fresh, right down to every single ingredient. The staff is extremely friendly and I feel right at home here.

Great burgers! Disappointed the last few times I’ve been there, they have been out of the Irish chips– they are so good!

I was visiting«da Region», where I was raised, from my adopted hometown, across the Columbia River north of Portland, Oregon. Portland likes to brag about being one of the culinary Meccas of the USA. Well, the burger and Irish chips I happily consumed at Matey’s beats any I have enjoyed in the Pacific NW for a long time. The burger was hand-formed fresh meat and grilled to perfection. I wisely chose the beer cheese as my preferred topping. Oozingly, soothingly yummy! Comfort food at its best. The local beer choices are diverse and cold. I chose a hard cider to wash down the goodness. Matey’s is an unassuming neighborhood watering hole that is full of friendly patrons and a warm and welcoming bar tending and wait staff. If I lived back here, this would be my go-to bar.

Not at all what I hoped for. It’s a bar with a restaurant as an after thought. Food was super salty. It is a vey local hangout. Got stared at when walking in. Won’t be back. If you are from CP and k ow the crowd it is probably good for you. Also smokey

I’m a fan of Matey’s. The bartenders are pleasant and the food is decent. The price is right, and it’s close to home. What more can you get?

The drinks are inexpensive, and the food is delicious. The servers are super friendly – our server/bartender, Christina the Greek, was really cool. We definitely plan to go back. My husband said that Christina made one of the best Long Islands he’s ever had. I had a Sidecar, which was awesome. Make sure you pick up their gift certificate! The only thing I don’t like about this place is that it allows smoking. The smoke wasn’t awful, but I still smelled a little like an ash tray when I got home.

Wonderful drink specials– and a new late night breakfast on Friday and Saturday(11 P.M. — 5 A.M.). The prime rib breakfast is just too good to pass up! It’s a great neighborhood haunt! They have Karaōke on Friday and Saturday’s– so free entertainment while you eat!
