If I’m ever in downtown Crystal Lake this is definitely on my list. I prefer this bar over some others in the area. They make very delicious drinks here.
Usually it’s a crowd place with a young crowd. This is a fun place to be on a Friday or Saturday night. Stop by and have a cocktail or beer. If you don’t love it, there are plenty of other bars located in the area to also check out!

I’m not understanding the poor reviews for this place. I stopped in with my hubby and kids for lunch because Benedicts had a 35 minute wait. We were greeted and seated promptly. It did seem to take some time to get our food after we ordered, maybe 15 minutes, but when the food came out I understood why. Hubby and I had salads. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Real chicken, not water plumped or tasting of freezer burn. Veggies were fresh. Hubby said the chili was good, tasted homemade. My kids fries were awesome. I think they batter them or double fry because the outside was perfectly golden and crisp with a mashed potato like consistency in the middle. Perfection. The kids chicken fingers also looked fresh, not frozen and had the perfect amount of batter. You can tell the chef takes pride in his work.
Better than bar food. We’ll be back!

Well the place is in need of a good through cleaning. The menu was sticky with noticeable food on it and the ceiling was so filthy and gross. But if you get past that, the waitress we had was nice enough. We went on a Saturday afternoon at like 2:00, so it was quiet. We got our drinks and food fast. My salad was fresh and better than I would have expected for a bar. My husband had nachos, he didn’t love them but certainly he has had much worse. He thought the chilli could have used some help, but did comment on the in house chips being good. We will probably not go back just because there are so my other places to go in the area. If they cleaned up the place it would really help. The broken smoke/​fire alarms can not be up to code either???

Came here when visiting some friends. The first couple places we stopped at had a 45min wait so we decided on this place.
The food here is an easy 3 stars. It’s fine, nothing great but not bad either — it’s exactly what you’d expect from a sports bar. It’s really a sports bar that has an Irish name, BTW.
The service here is bad. I’m not sure if they have enough servers/​cooks or that they just aren’t very good.
If you’re in no rush, not hungry and want to watch a game this is a good place. Order as soon as you get there because by the time the food gets to you, you’ll actually be hungry.

Two stars in very generous. Been there twice in the ladt two weeks to meet friends. Tried the half price appetizers one night and they were half the food and cold. Went back for dinner slow service not good burgers. The place is nice to watch a game with friends but food and service need to be better.

This might be the worst bar experience I have ever had. Both rounds of drinks came out wrong and we’re delivered to the wrong people at our table. We had to ask about 5 different employees to change the television and none of them seemed willing or able to get the job done. And to top it off we waited close to an hour for a cup of chili and some chicken tenders. I would recommend going to literally ANY other bar in the town of crystal and i personally will never be back.

Ok, I’m giving Finn McCools 3 stars with the understanding that this is a Sports Bar/​Burger Joint. In general, I cannot stand chain restaurants of any kind (it is part of a ‘chain’ where each location has an ‘identity’ of its own), but for some reason I have a soft spot for this place.
The food is very consistent in taste and quality. The bartenders are friendly, attentive and prompt. The beer is cold.
They have good daily specials every day of the week. My favorite are the 50% appetizers on Thursdays.
The place can be loud and crowded. You might find yourself surrounded by a bunch of obnoxious «bro’s». Yeah, the surfaces might be a little sticky.
But we have eaten here many times and never left disappointed.

Wife ordered a water and received a coke.
I ordered a ice tea and after getting it they told me they are out off sugar (still was charged for it)
Cole slaw was old and wilted.
The fish and chips were pretty good. Fish had a nice light batter with good flavor.
BLT had fatty bacon and the butt end of the tomato.

Went for a beer and food during the Hockey game. After 5 minuets we were noticing ants and more ants. We killed about 12 before they finally came over to us. All they said was «yeah sorry it’s an old building». They did not clean anything or do anything about it. Charged us full price also. Never returning.

Saturday night bartender the tall one, started with an «m» I believe, served the three of us one drink then ignored us for the next hour and half. To such extent the other bartender (who was not handling our side of the bar) commented on how she was ignoring us and promptly brought us our second round. If it wasn’t for her I would never come back

The special was $ 5 Jameson. So I ordered one. I was surprised to see my bill for $ 8.95. The bartender claimed she gave me a rocks pour and almost two shots. Well, I saw her pour it, and I doubt that. Also, if something is on special, probably the customer is interested in that. If it’s going to be more for whatever you decide to pour (or not pour in this case), just ask before you assume. Because I got Jameson as a drink instead it a shot didn’t mean I wanted more than the standard serving.
Beyond that, the place is large and disconnected. Felt like just another wallet to the bartenders.

I really like this place. The food is good and beer prices are great. The manager Scott was very helpful when dealing with a billing issue. Very professional. Nicole was awesome and I’ll be back. Thanks Finns… You’re service is awesome.

The food at this place was just «ok» and DEFINATELY not worth all the hassle of trying to find a parking spot to eat here. It took FOREVER to get our food and then they bring out 1 persons food and everyone else at our table had to wait another 20 minutes :/​The service here is HORRIBLE… our waitress came by twice the whole time we were here! NEVER again!!!

Atmosphere was nice and bar like, not so much a traditional pub. The server we had was very sweet. The food was pretty bad, the chips were stale, and the guacamole was made with some older ingredients. If you like the sports bar vibe with mediocre food, this is the place for you.

Stopped in on a Saturday waiting for my car to be worked on in crystal lake to watch some college football. It wasn’t crowded and we ordered drinks at the bar right away. However, the bartender did not offer us food menus and once we did order an appetizer she didn’t give us silverware of plates.
Overall okay drinks and selection of beer. We ordered the cheese curds and the beer nuggets which were good, especially the cheese curds. There were only 3 people working by the time we left and it was starting to get crowded for the Blackhawks game so I imagine what all the previous reviewers experienced was about to happen, bad service and crowded, but my experience earned 3 stars since it was just a drop in.

The service in this place is terrible. The bartender actually made fun of my husband for the way he ordered a beer by name, corrected him & laughed. The best part is she was wrong!
This was a 1 drink only stop & don’t feel bad about not leaving a tip!

Great local place if you’re in the mood for Nachos — huge plate, under 10 bucks — Tuesday $ 3 burger is good, too.
Get’s crowded with the 21 – 30 crown weekends after 8… but any other time a good place to watch a game with reasonably priced comfort food.
