I didn’t expect much going into an Applebee’s but we were looking for a quick lunch on our way from Tampa to visit family. Wow, I couldn’t believe how poorly we were treated by our server. Being in the hospitality industry for the last 7 years, I understand very well how guests should be treated and also how to be the easiest most polite guest that I could possibly be. My mother and I each ordered a mimosa and she got a cheeseburger cooked medium with fries and I got a house salad(neither had any modifications). Simple right? Our drinks took 20 minutes for her to get to us, they just sat at the bar while our server twirled her hair and chatted with another employee. She finally decided to get our drinks, slam them down and walk away. I wanted a glass of water but decided to not be rude by waving my hands or calling for her. She didn’t return until after we were half way through with our food that another sever dropped off at our table. My moms burger was way overdone but we decided not to say anything because we knew it wasn’t our servers fault and we were hungry. Half way through and we had no drinks just 2 empty mimosa glasses and I still really wanted water or maybe a mimosa refill. I finally got the chance to ask her for a water when she reluctantly came to check on us but didn’t get the water until it was time for me to ask for the check. At this point I was tired of waiting around so I had my card out and ready for her to take and run but when I asked her to just take the card to save her a trip she rolled her eyes and said I’ll be back with your check. I was shocked. Oh and did I mention she only had one other table? Needless to say I will never return to this Applebees and I gave her a .23 tip whereas I normally tip an obscene amount. Doesn’t seem like they care about SPEC one bit.

Occasionally, when our hunger outstrips our survival instincts we’ll do something really stupid… like eat at a «chain» restaurant. We tend to pick n choose our poison and Applebees riblet basket actually looks like something edible… at least the supersweet BBQ sauce buries anything resembling FROZEN rib sections. You know, some will eat anything you slop on a plate and dress up with a piece of parsley. Others, have a more discerning taste that can pick out the individual flavors that make up each dish… they appreciate hard work in the kitchen. Do NOT be duped into believing ANY Applebees or chain restaurant for that matter, as having a Chef on staff or even in an advisory position to the place. ALL foods delivered to their door are MADEIN A FACTORY and delivered FROZEN. Preparation? visualize a bunch a grab ass teenagers in the kitchen, using salamanders and microwaves… thats Applebees approach toward preparation and serving YOU… then, you’ll have a better idea of whats hitting the plate you’re looking at. Personally, I find these places, disgusting… The most«creative» thing they do during the course of your meal, is devise«crafty» sales presentations… to extract the most amount of CASH from your pocket before you leave!
