Paradise Found Island Retreat

We just rented the Island Oct 9 — 11 2015 and we had a fantastic time! We were a group of 17 that all slept on site. There was plenty of room to not feel crowded. We made use of the pool and bar area, as well as all of the Kayaks. The Owner Ken was great. He was very friendly and helpful. Yes he does live on site but we had the music turned up and we were not attempting to be quiet and he did not have any issues with this so him being on site was not an issue at all. I was a little worried because of some of the other reviews I saw but if you take the time to examine the website it makes for no surprises. Yes the AC are window units but they kept both the upstairs and downstairs, along with the bedrooms, comfortably cool. The overall ascetic of the houses and amenities fit the island very well I thought. No it is not a 5 star posh resort. It is a comfortable and relaxing retreat. Some of the Kayaks did have slow leaks in them so check each one for a plug before you go out but we were able to Kayak for a few hours without issue. A note about the AC is that they are set to turn off if you leave any of the doors open for more than 7 mins. If the AC is not working walk around and check if a door got left open. We had this happen and found that one of the sliding doors got left ajar. Once closed the timer resets after 5 mins and all is well. He does explain this to you when he gives you a walk through but I saw someone else complain about it and I thought it was worth a mention. I have no issue recommending this place and we will be using it again in the future. Thank you Ken!

This place is a gem! We have visited the property twice so far to plan our wedding in November. This is a truly unique and beautiful area with the real old Florida charm we have been looking for. Our wedding party will have an intimate 3 day affair together in the island house, and our actual wedding will be held the 2^nd day when the rest of our guest will attend. I am in love with everything about this place, beautiful views of the sawgrass fields, the swimming pool and deck, the Fire circle right next to the water, and the tiki hut. I could immediately feel the memories being made as soon as I stepped on the property.
We are Florida Locals, and we live about 30 minutes from the island. I read some of the reviews written in here and I must say that it is disappointing people could be so miserable and hateful about such a treasure of a place!
The price is more than fair… We rented an entire island for 3 days for our wedding celebration, for less than renting most venues for one day would cost. I can’t see how staying in some overpriced hotel, or a man made beach, could top this place. I know for a fact our wedding will be the most memorable of the decade.

The only thing this place has going for itself is the location. It’s remote and situated at the end of a drive surrounded by water. There are kayaks and canoes available, a salt water swimming pool (that needs to be cleaned), a fire pit, tiki hut and a dock to moore your boat.
There is one house that has an upstairs and downstairs that can be rented separately. The owner’s house is about 20 feet from the rentals. We didn’t see him unless we called him for things like, fixing the hot water that didn’t work in the lower rental, getting the internet and cable to work in the upper level rental, or picking up some hand soap and dishes to cook with.
Bring your bug spray! Also, you might not want to stay here if cockroaches aren’t your thing.
