An eclectic mix of cheese, beer, and wine! Here, you can sample their wide array of cheese. And you have employees who are well versed in their knowledge and able to make suggestions that are palatable for you. They have the best selection of brews that Culpeper has to offer, including varieties from Europe and beyond. They also rotate beer on tap and you can get a tasting flight for only $ 6! Check out the wine loung in the back, where they also have samples available.

A larger selection of cheeses would get this place a 5th star, but maybe that is not fair and I didn’t peruse what looked to be an extensive wine selection. The cheese that they did have was all excellent and while maybe not covering every cheese on the planet certainly covered the range of cheeses with several local to VA. The woman presenting the cheese to us certainly knew her cheese and was very helpful. She was very friendly and quick to offer a tasting of 3 different cheeses and explained the what and how of each. She was probably quick to offer because after tasting them, we were quick to buy a piece of all three. — Okay. 5 stars it is.

Love this place. Have been coming here for over 5 years since my wife and I began to look for a home in the Culpeper County area(and now live in the area). It’s fun to combine a visit to this place with Frenchman’s Corner next door(Neihaus chocolates!) and About Thyme market across the street(wood fired pizza!) and an overnight in one of the boutique B&Bs on Davis Street(we love About Thyme’s rooms and Suites at 249). Great cheese selection and lots of other cool items, drinks, and food.

This reviews is purely for the cheese buying experience. We stopped in Culpeper for a quick bit on our wine tasting weekend. After touring several vineyards, it finally dawned on us to take our own cheese and crackers to enjoy with our wine. And that’s where the cheese shop comes in. We walk in and are immediately greeted cheerfully by Ruth, who was manning the cheese station. After tasting the offerings of the day, we told her that we’d like to assemble a cheese sampling to take to a vineyard. She made some excellent suggestions and even let us taste the cheese before buying. She helped us pick out crackers and made sure we had plates, knifes and napkins(none of which we thought to take). If I ever made my way to Culpeper, I would stop here again. And the cheeses we bought: Saint Angel and English Cheddar, both incredibly delicious.

Small selection for lunch in table area, but everything is delicious and thoughtfully prepared/presented. Owners very friendly, beautiful wine selection and tasting room, as well as all kinds of gourmet things to go.

Food-wise, this is just not a good value. We got a piece of quiche and it was the smallest piece of quiche I have ever seen. Like 3 bites worth. And pricey! Also had soup, and while the serving size was reasonable, it was gloppy and thick. And was $ 7+ for a bowl of soup! Will not be back.

Really enjoy this place… like the wine, the beer on tap, and the few sandwiches they offer hit the spot. Expect to spend some money in there… so much variety and it’s all high quality so if you are hungry when you shop(or thirsty) be prepared. My favorite thing about this place though is the staff. Everyone is extremely friendly and ridiculously knowledgable. If you are looking for something good different or unusual, chances are they will be able to help you!

This is ALWAYS my first stop on Davis St when company comes to town! It’s a thrill to know your guests are welcomed as family by Jeffrey & Jennifer and catered to by Ruth, Jaime & the rest of the crew each and every time you visit!

Awesome. just awesome. Friendly and knowledgeable people! Selection of beer is great. Even 1664 kronenbourg blanc which is very hard to find anywhere! Paninis are expertly prepared and they are flexible to add(or subtract) their selection of meats. Wonderful experience overall.

Really enjoyed our experience here. Sampled several cheeses, which was nice so we didn’t end up with something we didn’t like. Prices were a little expensive, but it was a great treat.

Nice, upscale cheese and wine shop. We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed a panini and spinach salad. They have lots of interesting beer and wine on tap. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back!

My friends and I were recently visiting Culpeper and ran into the Culpeper Cheese Company for the first time. We love beer and were excited about the selection and the ability to taste local /regional offerings on tap. As my friend and I were sampling some of the available beer, one of the employees approached our two year olds(my daughter, his son) and asked them if they wanted some water. Like all two year olds, they enthusiastically replied«yes!» and were each rewarded with a bottle of water. They both drank about a sip and then continued doing whatever it is two year olds do. Much to our surprise, when we went to pay for our flights of beer, we saw two bottles of water tacked on for about $ 6. I have two problems with this 1) I would never pay for«spring water» in a place that has reasonable municipal water 2) If you want to sell my daughter a bottle of water I would never buy for myself, and which she won’t drink, ask the person who’s paying for it(me), not her Anyway, this really pissed me off and ruined what would otherwise have been a four star experience.

A local business owner recommended this spot to me. I walked in and fell in love… cheese, meat, beer, and wine EVERYWHERE. Their sandwiches change daily and they have several micro brews on tap. The boy who served me was adorable and the owner was amazing. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a good drank and/or eat.

After an early morning juant out of the city, we made a spur of the moment decision to investigate downtown Culpeper and took a little detour. We were originally just trying to find a place off the highway to grab a bite to eat, but as we got into the small downtown area, we were a bit overwhelmed by all the options so we parked in one of the lots and began wandering around Davis Street. I had checked Unilocal!but none of the restaurants listed jumped out at me. This cheese shop was the first store we walked entered. We were immediately greated by friendly faces offering us samples of various cheeses as well as background about the cheesemakers behind each bite. They also had wine available for sampling towards the back. There was quite a selection fo wine, bear, and a few mixers. As we were checking out, we asked where a good place to eat lunch was and were alerted to a Fondue for 2 special. I explained that my one previouse experience with fondue had left me wanting, but the gentleman(who I definitely believe to be the owner) explained that his was nothing like that and was quite good. I acquiesced, feeling a bit adventurous and decided, «Sure, I’ll try eating at a sort-of-restaurant with no actual menu.» So we did. First, we had the sandwich special which they called ‘Sumptuous Spain’ that had olives and chorizo as well as, duh, cheese. This was nothing compared to the downright delicious baked/fondue Camembert that came after. It had thinly sliced garlic, rosemary, and fresh cracked pepper which matched wonderfully with the crackers. It was too much even for too people. Talk about richness overload. In looking up the place later, I discovered that this lunch-thing was a bit of a pilot program and that they hope to have full kitchen hours and a menu soon. This place definitely has promise. They seem to have hired thoughtful staff which is a great first step. Keep up the good work, guys! Kudos for having such a local focus too!
