This is my first time getting my eyebrows threading by Shila, I live in Northern California I’m telling u she is the best ever. I’m half Lebanese and my eyebrows are crazy and nobody knows how shape my eyebrows, And she did them perfect!!! 5 Stars…

They closed a half hour early without notice which was super annoying as I drove out of my way and spent over 10 minutes looking for parking. The lot is the worst.

Sheila is an eyebrow master. She loves doing them and gave me so much information about the benefits of threading over waxing. My eyebrows never looked this good and I’ve stared at my own face for over 30 years so I should know! I’m surprised people aren’t lining up to have them done with her since she is only there on Sundays from 12−5pm.

This is for both the store and the salon(sort of). My hairdresser of 27 retired, so I’m on a mission for a new hairstylist. The woman at the front of the store told me the stylists are independent, not employees of the store. She said there are 3 but she only has a card for one of them. It was for Teresa. She doesn’t know anything about the stylists, like what they do & charge. It seems the salon doesn’t have a separate number, but each stylist has her own number/services/fees. I’m not used to this so I’m not too comfortable with this set up. I guess the salon isn’t a separate business renting space but the individuals rent the space. I see the rave reviews for Teresa, but unfortunately I’ll never know for myself since she never returned my phone call. I left two messages, and nothing. Honestly, it only takes 30 seconds to call someone back and say«Sorry, no can do» on certain treatments. So unprofessional and disrespectful to a potential customer. Also, her cards have the wrong zip code or a typo on the zip code. The worst part is that that the phone number on the card is for the STORE, not for HER. That doesn’t help me. SO, I had to get Teresa’s number from the store. Then, she doesn’t even call me back. And the weird part is I actually got a bad feeling when I studied the card for her. Just cause something isn’t listed doesn’t mean she doesn’t do that. Maybe there was no room, so what harm is there in confirming it? The other stylist is Shamsi(I think I spelled that right) I met her briefly and she gave me her card, but I didn’t call for prices/services. She happened to be there when I checked out the place, as I wanted to see what it looked like. Since I don’t know what kind of work she does, I wasn’t comfortable for some reason. I’ve learned to trust my gut, and if that little voice says no, I listen. I don’t know the name of the third person. I don’t know the last names of any of these women. I don’t know what it is about having just one’s first name on a card. I wonder if this is beauty industry protocol or something. Anyway, I think I found someone new, as she CALLED me back and gave me a cut. As for the store, they do carry things I can’t find anywhere else so close to home, so it’s convenient. It’s right near the gym I go to, so it’s on my way. I’ve found the staff there to be friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful — but I only go there once in a blue moon. I notice I don’t see the same person each time, so the turnover could be high or it could be the time of day I’m in there. I do like to browse awhile and in peace, without being approached so soon after entering though. This is why I usually avoid these types of places, where they sometimes follow/watch you. But I can just get what I need & run, so to speak, since I know where to find them.(Disposable eye shadow applicators that are like Q-tips but wider and flatter)

I came across the Beauty Lab because I was a few doors down buying a few clothing items at Shop Style Express. Beauty Lab is a bit over priced in my opinion. Its not your typical Sally’s or any of the Beauty Salons like they have in Korea town or down town. Their selection is limited and the items they do have you kind of question yourself like, «ummmm do I really want to pay that for this??? No.» I think this is for those that pretty much live in the area and dont’ want to go anywhere outside of the vicinity. If you’re looking for a beauty supply store one with a lot of selections this isn’t your best bet. OH: The staff/sales associates: Super friendly and they answered all the questions I asked! =)

I went to this Beauty Lab with my friend. I asked my hair stylist(old white American lady) ash-light brown coloring for my hair; but she ended up giving me brown(my natural hair color: dark brown). There was no change and didn’t see any difference nor my friend did. I felt like I wasted my money on something that didn’t do anything to my hair. I ended up paying her $ 60.00(without tips) for [hair coloring] my «short hair»(length of my shoulder). I remember, over the phone, the lady talked to me it’s $ 40.00 for hair coloring; then, she secretly charged me $ 60.00 for coloring short hair(shoulder length) excluding the tips. She wasn’t really paying attention to my hair; rather, talked about how she will be getting her facial stretch surgery next week. I was very disappointed and will never go back to her.

Shila is the best for styling eyebrows! She needs her own Unilocal page! My eyebrows are naturally pretty sparse, so most people I’ve visited to have them threaded or waxed will take off too much on the outer edges and tell me to fill it in… but not Shila ;-) Shila will thread your eyebrows without taking away too much, and trim them to make a more defined shape. She will fill them in for you if you like too. Shila is also super friendly and goes out of her way to remember her customers and make them feel welcome. She also works pretty fast, so I’m usually in and out in about 10 – 20 min. The Beauty Lab store, well, it’s an ok place to shop for supplies. They have a collection of hair products for women with naturally curly hair like myself, but I noticed they have been going up in price and the selection has been changing quite a bit, so they don’t carry what I like anymore. I have found a few decent makeup brushes for a good price there though. If I could give a review on Shila alone, I’d give this place 5 stars. She is the saving grace for this shop.

I fell for the hype of the Unilocal reviews for Shila. I let them grow out for weeks to help shape them without being too thin. NOPE! Instead, she left them too thin in the inner brow, an unrecognizable arch, and she went too high up on the front half of my right brow. Seems like this was a one-size fits all job instead of sticking to my natural shape. Super upset, once is enough for me.

My haircut w/Shamcey was a big disappointment. My first thoughts after I left this place were: where can I fix it and how fast will it grow?

The five stars are for Shila. I’ve been wanting to write a review for her a long time and I’m finally getting around to do it. I absolutely LOVE the way she does my eyebrows! A friend recommended her to me a few years ago and I haven’t gone to anyone else since then. I won’t let anyone else touch my eyebrows. If Shila isn’t around, I will walk around with misshapen eyebrows until I can get her to do them for me. She really does an amazing job, leaving my eyebrows flawless every time.

They do not honor the check-in coupon. They are not very nice nor accommodating. My money will be better spent elsewhere.

This review is for Shila(eyebrows): Shila does eyebrows on Sunday from 12−4pm and she is amazing. Before her I had shapeless/thin eyebrows. I don’t know what kind of magic she works but after her, my eyebrows actually have a shape to them! The price is great, I pay $ 17 for my eyebrows and lip(without tip) and parking is easy and free!

This Salon is a hidden Jem… I was hesitant to get a men’s haircut at a Salon that had ‘Beauty’ in the name, but Adriana was absolutely perfect, and gives a very nice cut/style(awesome scalp massages as well). Neomi was very nice as well. Like a speak easy for Salons. You have to go thru the beauty supply shop then to the back where the salon is.

I just got crown lashes with Caroline and I love them. I recommend crown lashes if you are looking for a fuller look when getting extensions. Caroline helped me decide which eyelash extensions I wanted and applied them within 30 minutes. She was super sweet and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I’m definitely going back.

I’m reviewing the hair salon, Salon de Lux. It was Sunday mid-day, when I got that dreaded feeling when you realize it’s the last weekend before you’re big vacation, and everything is CLOSED. ahh come to the rescue Kimmie at Salon de Lux. I was a little nervous about asking someone new to cut my hair — which was a short pixie that I was trying to grow out — but hell I cut my own hair so why not. RINGRING… straight to voicemail… oh well. 20 min later, she calls me back, I asked her a couple of question, because not everyone knows how to cut or style short hair, especially fine hair like mine. She offered to let me come in for a consult before cutting, and she would recommended the best solution, taking in my current growth and desire to grow it out. Oh did I mentioned, she was leaving for the day, and stayed to take me! Good thing I don’t live very far. Come to find out, wow she’s highly trained and has a lot of experience working in Bev Hills and even Chrome across the street! She did an amazing job, I love my cut. She told me exactly what I needed to do in order to still have a cute cut while trying to grow out my pixie. Soooo happy to have found her! So check out Kimmie!

Good selection of products. Exchange only w/receipt(except nail polish and a couple of other things), no returns. Good hours! They had everything I needed for when I decided to bleach and dye my hair 5 different colors at 7:20p.

Just met Caroline for CROWN eyelashes last night. I’ve been getting lashes for 2 years straight now and been through 5 ladies already.(FYI — Crown lashes are different from individual lashes! They are two lashes conjoined at the top by a very small mink hair follicle point. I was a little scared to try it but you can’t tell ATALL. See pictures) Caroline’s service fit my needs because… Pros: — $ 45 for a full set, every time. So no pressure from her to hurry up and return for the next appointment. I HATE it when eyelash ladies get mad at you for returning post 3 weeks or with little lashes left. Caroline would prefer you to come in whenever you want with no time restraints because she takes them off and gives u a full set each time. — She’s personable and will talk to you but won’t gab off your ear. I prefer to just take a nap while getting my lashes done so this was perfect. — She’s pretty gentle and will ask you if you are discomforted during the entire procedure. — Parking spots are a bit narrow but plentiful.(FYI — u can park in the 20 minute parking and not sweat it). I removed 1 star because… Cons: — On her service menu she gave me, it says, «no charge for taking off lashes» but I got charged $ 10 for her removing my old lashes. To clarify though, she said that she charges for taking off other people’s lashes. Bogus marketing. — I had a headache getting up because her neck pillow wasn’t working well and didn’t elevate/support my head. Overall, I’m happy for now(Day 2) with the crown lashes. Unsure if I’ll start to miss my individual lashes but the convenience and no-rush of Caroline might keep me for some time.
