The outside and inside looks tacky, but it is some good, basic Mexican food. It might bring back memories from childhood. Nothing fancy. It also has some American dishes. It is great for a hang-over or for kids. This is my daughter’s favorite restaurant. Prices are ok. They always have parking in their lot, but it is usually busy, too. CASHONLY.

We eat here on every trip to LA. Great selection of food, authentically prepared and good sized portions. Some of the best al pastor I’ve had anywhere! They serve fresh orange, carrot, grapefruit and celery juice, squeezed to order… And they have homemade horchata!

I rate this 3.5(not sure how to indicate a half). There is not alot of 24⁄7 food places where u get an overall menu so this is good especially around Culver City. I have been here a few times and out of the times I’ve ordered, I like their breakfast menu better than the others. For instance, I recently ordered a Fiesta Carne Asada Burrito in the afternoon and expecting chucks or slices of steak meat not no ground type. I felt the contents in the burrito such as the rice and beans were overriding the half-ass scoop of meat. French fries texture was warm but hard like they reheated/fried twice mayb 3xs(not my likings but maybe to others). The taste was mediocre and the size was appropriate. On the other hand, the Breakfast burrito i ordered in the mid morning was more tastful and filling. Maybe it all depends the preparation of the food and I dont expect high quality food afterall it is a fast food place. The environment is cool and clean. The staff reminds me of the high school caferteria ladies or as if this is a famiy business, they were nice not overly attentive. Overall, its cool. not bad for it being a 24⁄7 restaurant.

First and foremost the customer service was great. For me that means almost as much as the food. I looked up shrimp burritos and came across this place. Once I got there I realized Ive seen this place 1000 times going yo Johnny Pastrami. Anyway they have an area to eat inside and outside but due to the hour(well after midnight) I opted to take my foof home. I ordered the shrimp burrito with chipotle sauce instead of mayo. This is hands down on of the most flavorful shrimp burritos Ive ever had. A lot of the time when you order a shrimp burrito the shrimp has no real flavor but that is not the case here. The only reason I couldn’t give 5 stars is because there werent enough shrimp(more rice than shrimp but had they thrown in a couple more shrimp it was a 5). Overall I know where Ill be going back to for shrimp burritos from now on(And it was only 10 bucks cant beat that!)

Unilocal Challenge 2016– 29⁄100 This is definitely the place for those crispy, greasy ground beef tacos from my childhood! And yes, they do have chicken! No, they don’t take any cards, only cash and they have an ATM for $ 1 fee. There wasn’t any apparent signage and I mistakenly thought it was a part of Tito’s Tacos — which it is NOT… Immediate impression: this place has a humongous and varied menu with everything from more traditional breakfast items to seafood and ice cream. I never would’ve guessed. First taste: the homemade Horchata… amazing with that rice-almond-cinnamon taste that’s difficult to describe to the uninitiated. Next taste: the taco combo, one soft taco and one hard-shelled(i.e. fried) taco. The meat was surprisingly lean and very nicely seasoned. The hard-shell was just what I was craving: greasy fried tortilla with ground beef and lettuce and cheese. This is simple comfort food that I grew up with but I know this level of grease is not everyone’s thing… There was a somewhat hidden salsa bar(see picture) and I discovered this after I had eaten. An employee came out just before 5 pm to stock it and opened the lid– I didn’t even know it was there! It was totally empty in the restaurant on a random Thursday afternoon at 4:30 pm when I ordered and no one mentioned it. Oh well, live and learn. Details: you must ASK for a restroom key AFTER you order! I saw them turn down another couple until after they had ordered(okay, they looked like high school kids). It’s a tiny restroom that’s functional, at best. It’s painted bright red and yellow like the rest of the place. There’s a small private parking lot for maybe 8 vehicles on a busy Westside intersection. Yup, it was a greasy, guilty pleasure and the pleasure was all mine…

So much better than Tito’s. Their shrimp burrito is something that my friends and I crave after bar hopping in Culver City. Cheap, fast and tasty, they got everything you need here!

Aside from the fact that this place is right next to the famous Tito’s Tacos, I’m not sure why it doesn’t get more business. I’ve been driving past here for years, curious, but never stopping to check it out. Well, I finally decided to check it out(and support a small business), and I’m glad I did. I ordered a grilled fish taco and a vegetarian taco, and both were great. One bite of the fish taco and I had a CLEAR understanding of why Mexican food is my favorite cuisine(they sell American too). The tacos were really big and filling. The menu is extensive, and the prices are perfect, very inexpensive… AND they’re open 24 hours! :-) I highly recommend dining at Cinco de Mayo Tacos, and I will definitely be back. Btw, way better than Viva Fresh down the street. 059⁄100

I pigged out on a carne asada burrito after work the other night since I was ridiculously hungry. At 3AM, it’s quite limited where to get a meal, and I wasn’t in the mood for fast food. Although I’ve been here before, I was never fond of it, but it was open, so I went for it. At 3AM, there’s about a 10 minute wait to get your order. I ordered my carne asada burrito. Brought it home and here are my thoughts. — taste was just OK, not exceptionally good — size of burrito was too big and ended up eating half of it — the meat isn’t that tender, and isn’t flavorful — too much beans over meat — the carne asada tasted too dry, not juicy I’ve had way better burritos before, and in all honesty, I’d place chipotle as a way better burrito over this place. I highly doubt I’ll stop by here again. Overall grade: B-/C+

Here’s a tip: don’t eat here. Place has gone way downhill. Meat was horrible quality. Pure gristle. Guacamole isn’t a thing here. It’s some green sauce that tasted bad. They covered my Cali burrito in sour cream. Wish this place didn’t give up! Loved it even a year ago! Also, they charge a dollar to use card as payment.

It used to be the go to place for late night food. So much has changed, their«guacamole» is now a guacamole sauce that you barely get and barely taste, but you will still get charged as if it was fresh. I’ll take the charge if they were straight up about it… I was expecting at least some real avocado. Def don’t get the veggie tacos, it’s just lettuce. You literally have to drench your food in sauce to have flavor. Chicken tacos aren’t too far behind according to my friend, this was our go to spot on this side of town.

Originally I wanted titos tacos but since it’s CHRISTMASDAY titos is closed but… wait… do I see a place next to titos tacos called Cinco de mayo . so I pulled into the parking lot to check if there open and yes they were, yay cool. when me and my girl entered the establishment it seemed to be clean and friendly, Good sign right? I ordered 2 hardshell ground beef tacos with a large coke, my girl ordered 4 chicken taqitos. that’s it, that is all we ordered and it came out to $ 18.50. Hot damn! I’m a chef so I didn’t feel like cooking so I decided to head out and grab something quick, but damn for 2 tacos and 4 small taqitos and a large coke $ 18.50 wow. that’s crazy, and on top of that $ 1.50 for a refill, hot damn! lol. Well now this one is for«The working poor» who don’t mind spending a little money but don’t like to get robbed at the counter when it’s time to pay. If this restaurant would give people more bang for the buck and put a little more FLAVOR into the food it would definitely do a lot better. Step it up, for now I’m sticking with titos.

Gross I ordered a enchilada and hard shell taco both shredded beef. It came with a salad and rice and beans. The beans were old and the rice was about a day old both were reheated gross I hate to eat reheated food freakin lazys. I don’t do that at my house why would I pay u ten bucks to do it at your business where u sell food. Salsa was bland and they had carrots on the side they need to be marinated with more marinate vinegar. The radishes were sliced but dirt on the radishes no one scrubbed them, they just sliced them thanks. The enchilada had shredded beef now they freakin reheated the meat in the microwave which made it so gross. I hate the taste the microwave does to the meat. Add potato if u lazy people will continue this practice of laziness. The taco I had ordered shredded beef but the lazy girls gave me there nasty ground beef which is gray what the heck cook it some more. The only thing I liked was the tacoshell how crispy it was but it was cracked when I got it… I usually return it but I was pressed for time. The salad dressing was store bought it was good reminded me of the old school diner Russian dressing. So the crazy question will I be back no, never I won’t even recommend this gross place

So, about a week ago my man decided he wanted to take me to Tito’s Tacos, which is right next door(and much more popular). Even when we lived in Culver City, he would go to Cinco and I would go to Tito’s, unless the line was too long. While I ordered and waited for my food, he went and ordered his food. Like old times, he got huevos rancheros, which Cinco has the best he has ever had. From years ago, it tasted the same — runny over medium eggs, perfect red sauce, pliable corn tortillas – HEAVEN for him. The ‘salad’(drenched in generic Thousand Island) and chips(hard) are nothing special. The rice and beans are still decent. Unfortunately, they no longer sell tamales(my man said we were probably the only people that ever got them years ago, eh). And I really wanted to take a dozen back home, pffft. Some things change, but the random prices are still listed in 3 different places and conflict, so watch how much you get charged for certain items. I’d be willing to bet their breakfast burritos and asada sopes are still good too.

This place used to be the closest place to get Ceviche Tostada from my place and was good and cheap. I stopped coming here often because they stopped serving it:(hate it! Today I got me a breakfast burrito for the first time and I liked it, not great but good. Portion is big, I ate half for the breakfast and the other half for lunch. It comes with chips and salsa. Their salsa is watery and flavorless. It was $ 8($ 1for debit card fee) I felt that the price was bit high for a simple breakfast burrito. Personally, I like Lucy’s drive in’s better than this place’s. Lucy’s put more hash browns and the burrito is bigger and cheaper. Besides their salsa is better and they have drive thru, Cinco de mayo doesn’t. I’ve had carne asada burrito, cheese burger, breakfast plate and mojarras fritas here in the past, they are all mediocre. I don’t like their Carne asada burrito though, nothing but a bunch of meat in it and got lots of fat part. Overall, this is an open-24-hour quick and easy fast food joint that has wide selection of Mexican and American food.

This place’s stock in trade seems to be the overflow business from the always-packed Tito’s Tacos a few doors down. I don’t understand the massive crowds that are always in front of Tito’s; this place seems a lot more authentic to me but perhaps that is not why people go to Tito’s. Anyhoo, one night I was really hankering for a bean and cheese burrito after getting some dranks on and hey, this place is always open, so why not. I paid my $ 5 and in short order a pretty large burrito was handed to me by a nice Mexican lady. Overall, it satisfied my b&c cravings, but it was by no means my favorite b&c(that honor still belongs to Taqueria La Mexicana near my place). BUT most places are not open 24⁄7 so I gotta hand it to CDM for making that bold move. You bet I’ll be back at some point, most likely between the hours of 2am-5am. STEPHJUDGEMENT: Decent Mexican essentials open 24⁄7.

I’m going to be generous and give 3 stars because I think there is potential here — maybe a taco here would be better than the enchiladas. My first experience here was 13 years ago. I got a bean and cheese burrito early one morning and the service was bad and the burrito was unimpressive. So for all of these years, I’ve driven past, thinking maybe I should try them again, but I was always on my way somewhere. I stopped tonight because I think my usual favorite closes at 9pm. This place is open 24 hours. I ordered the 2 enchilada plate with rice and beans. I thought this place had a salsa bar but it’s a pepper/onions/carrots bar. Bummer. So when I got my food, I asked for two salsas in addition to the one that was in the bag. She obliged and didn’t hassle me about it, but I would prefer to get my own. The enchiladas were meh. The picture on the wall of the dish showed a roasted jalapeño that did not come with mine. There was salad wrapped separately but it had what looked like thousand island dressing — no thanks. The rice and beans were good. The salsa was okay, though I could have used more. I would like to come back to try some other items but I must say I will probably toss the rest of the enchiladas.

If you’re considering Cinco because Tito’s lines are long, the wait is worth it. The service is pretty slow although the workers are nice. Their salsa is watery and tastes more like tomato sauce. Their prices are fair — 3 dollars per taco, about 9 for a burrito. My chicken taco in crunchy shell was very dry and flavorless. Carnitas taco was good green salsa. Both are stuffed with filling. There is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating BUT I don’t understand not having a public bathroom?

So you got Tito’s Tacos next door but this place is the true hole in the wall Mexican joint. I initially came for a breakfast burrito but since I saw that they have quite the menu with traditional Mexican eats as well as hamburgers combos at prices that seem to be fairly reasonable. I mean, I ended up ordering a breakfast plate I saw listed on their wall called the Cinco de Mayo Special that came with 3 eggs, a choice of protein of which I chose bacon, hash browns, two pieces of toast and a cup of coffee included all for $ 5.02! Now that’s cheap. Actually, it’s about right and the way it should be. Lots of different combo specials for Mexican dishes. I want to try some of the hot stew dishes and burritos. The Red Chile(Chile Rojo) which is usually beef in a tomato sauce looked inviting but since I was here for breakfast, I made a note of it for next time, if there is a next time. And there might be, since the breakfast was decent. I just won’t go out of my way to come here so it would have to be when I’m in the area again sometime which is a darn good possibility. The ambiance is really casual and almost Taco Bell-ish with limited tables. It’s cash only but they do have an ATM right in the restaurant so that’s convenient. Eh, still, it’s good to know this place is around for some cheap Mexican eats.

Stopped by this place a few days ago and I’m STILL dreaming about their super burrito. It comes with carne asada and chicken! Avocado, beans, rice, tomatoes, onions, cilantro and TWO kind of cheeses! Thanks right I said TWO! My favorite part of the burrito was that the cheese was on the outside layer of the burrito some other places just mix it in there with the beans and the flavor kind of gets lost. This place knows what they’re doing and even added an extra cheese! I’m absolutely in love with this burrito! Its great that this place has outdoor seating and has a window so you can order outside as well! Perfect for bringing your dog out on late night food adventures! Oh and this place is 24⁄7! YUM!
