Literally the slowest place ever. Do not bother trying to come during lunchtime. One register open with a line out the door??? And training a person? Good grief.

I was so… MAD when HONEYKETTLE left CPT, but LANCE the guy. doing the DAM thang explained it to me. This chicken is STILL everything and I STILL love it even tho it’s so… far away now(SADFACE)! This location is beautiful and that LANCE is something else! I got there right when they opened at 11 and had a few questions for him since I hadn’t been at HK since they left COMPTON. HE is the best… making us feel welcome. and OBOY that chicken HUMHUMGREAT! I’M have to hit the WESTSIDE with all that traffic.cause.I realize I miss HK so.much. I went there 5 times a month but I guess that wasn’t enough to keep them open in the CPT! Thanks again LANCE like I said you should change your shirt from CREW to THEMANINCHARGE… cause he. was OUT!

Can’t argue with this comfort food quick stop. First things first: chicken is juicy and crunchy, my two checkmarks on any soul food fried chicken. Biscuits also get a plus: dense, powdery and with the honey you can’t go wrong. Recommend going off hours as it can get busy. TIP: parking in the rear but not a huge amount. Structures nearby though.

This establishment deserves to be a 5 star business but the employees refuse to let it be. I ate here for the first time last night. I was searching Father’s Day ideas on Groupon and stumbled upon Honey’s. Utilizing Unilocal for photos and feedback led me to take the plunge and purchase the discount. Within hours I had convinced my husband that we should drive to Culver City from Glendale to eat some yummy food. Everything we had was truly delicious. We ordered chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans(which actually have potatoes, carrots and bell peppers included like my mom used to make), biscuits and lemonade. The chicken was crispy and well seasoned with a batter more similar to tempura than a flakey flour batter like KFC. In all honesty I would not compare this restaurant to KFC at all so don’t think that I am. This food is more special than KFC. I am upset that I have to mention the attitudes that some(not all) of the workers were projecting. This business deserves to have five stars displayed on Unilocal and unfortunately there must be inexperienced and unhappy individuals working for them. I have retail management experience and I can say that I truly believe that my store was successful because we smiled constantly and we’re welcoming to(almost) every customer. Our product truly could have been and at times was subpar but people retuned because we made them feel awesome. The workers here don’t seem to have those skills. I never saw any one of them crack a smile let alone a grin. They do not appear to want to be there and that stinks. One person in particular was clearly having issues and gave my husband attitude several times. For instance, we needed a bag to take our left over food items and he only wanted to give him a tiny lunch bag sized bag. It would have been impossible to put mashed potatoes, gravy, chicken basket and biscuits in that small bag. My husband asked for something larger and I could see from across the room that he rolled his eyes and lazily handed him a bag with handles. He then turned away like he was being bothered. My husband also dealt with this guy when he asked for some cups of water. My only other beef with this place is that when we arrived all tables were full and then everyone seemed to leave at the same time. As people piled into the tables everyone had a sticky, greasy mess to deal with because there wasn’t anyone wiping down the area. The associates need to be aware of their surroundings and think of the customers experience to get this location up to stellar speed. I know I will be back here because the food was fantastic but I can’t say that I’ll eat in. Maybe to go is the only way to eat here.

I was a bit skeptical after reading reviews but decided to try it out. My husband and I got a 4 piece meal(came with fries & a biscuit) and ordered an extra biscuit. Surprisingly, we got full. They gave us plenty of seasoned fries and the chicken pieces were meaty and flavorful. The biscuit had a honey flavor and did not require adding butter or honey. Our ordered was ready in less than 2 minutes and the young staff were accommodating. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way(especially since parking can be limited at times) but if I happen to find a parking spot and am in the mood for chicken, I might drop in.

This is still probably the best traditional fried chicken restaurant in LA. At peak hours there’s a bit of a wait sometimes, but otherwise prices and service speed are reasonable. Their fried chicken is the best classic fried chicken I’ve had. The batter is crispy without being too thick, the meat is insanely juicy without being greasy, and the flavor is just sublime. There’s not much else to say about it — it’s not Nashville Hot Chicken, or Korean Fried Chicken, or Japanese Karaage or anything else — just regular Fried Chicken done perfectly. It goes great with a bit of ketchup and honey, as well as their sweet and hot sauce(not to be confused with their regular hot sauce), which unfortunately they don’t seem to serve for free anymore. While the fried chicken here might be the best I’ve had by a small margin, the biscuits are the best I’ve had by a mile. They’re soft and fluffy, almost like pancakes, and are great on their own and especially good drizzled with honey. I also like to make chicken sandwiches out of them with the chicken I’m eating. As for the sides here, their sweet pickles are good, their fries and cole slaw are just okay, and their potato salad and mac salad are solid. But really, you’re coming here for the chicken and biscuits. The Family Pack or Party Pack at $ 30 or $ 48 respectively are usually a good deal to share between 3 – 5 people, and come with biscuits and sides. Honey’s Kettle is an LA classic that doesn’t need to do anything fancy to be the best of its class. If you want fried chicken, eat here.

Service was fast and friendly. Good place to go if you’re looking for a quick bite. Chicken was tasty but extremely greasy which didn’t sit well with my tum tum. Lemonade was ok, but not worth $ 4 for a small glass. Also, WAY over-sweetened. Heads up– no free refills. You’ll have to pay $ 1.10 for that. They have a few flavors which you can add to the lemonade. I got my plain. Which was sweet enough as is. Plus side– they have a pump for sides of honey and a pump for hot sauce. Which is cool! Also, real mashed potatoes– no complaints there. Seasoned well, good gravy. Don’t know when I’ll go back, but if I do– definitely getting the potatoes :)

The food was standard fried fare — nothing extraordinary. The fried chicken is a step up from the likes of KFC. The prices were a bit high for the quality of food and ambience, but the location warrants it I suppose. My biggest issue was with the customer service. While the young lady taking our order was quite pleasant(and seemingly new), the people in the kitchen seemed like they’d rather be anywhere but there. My plate was missing hush puppies. When I asked about it, I was met with disbelief. Furthermore, when I asked for ketchup, the same employee insisted she had placed some on my tray. When I insisted there was none, she reluctantly gave me some. It definitely didn’t feel like«home cooking.» It’s unlikely I would return.

You know that feeling you get on your face when you eat greasy and oily fried chicken? Welcome to Honey’s Kettle; where you will immediately regret your first bite but love every moment of it. It was a quiet night when I came and so our food came out promptly. I got the 4 piece chicken dinner(chicken breast, thigh, drumstick, and wing) complete with fries and a biscuit(I guess a slice or two of pickles too). I don’t know what to say other than don’t eat here more than once a month unless you want to break out in acne all over. Haven’t tried their hotcake options but I’ll try that next time I come… in the next few months after my acne subsides.

Let me start off and say that their chicken is really really really good, next to Popeye’s(yes Popeye’s) the best fried chicken in town. Very greasy though. So if you don’t like eating at a chicken joint with 3 inch thick bulletproof glass, Honey Kettle is the place. I was very disappointed by the restaurant operation, maybe tonight was just an off night but I was really put off. I came in at 7pm on a Sunday for dinner, there was a sign in the window and on the counter that read«thigs only,» first of all I have no idea what a «thing» is, using common sense I was able to conclude that they only had THIGHS. I went ahead and ordered an 8 piece meal consisting of «thigs» they refused to discount the price even though I was getting eight pieces of lesser quality chicken than a breast or drumsticks. I went ahead and ordered a salad, I was told they were out of salads and they only had one mashed potato with gravy left and one piece of corn left. Why on a Sunday night at peak dinner time are they out of chicken and sides? There is really no excuse for this except poor restaurant operation. My eight pieces of chicken were really good, they could have been warmer but all in all it was very tasty and juicy. I hope your experience will be better than mine.

We ordered the 3 pieces of fried chicken. It came out after 20 minutes. We also came on 04/20, so it was packed. Service was also pretty slow. The workers seemed too busy and it seemed that they were almost overwhelmed with what they were already preoccupied doing. I think we had to ask for water at least 4 times before they remembered to give it to us. For parking, we parked in a structure nearby. Pros: Decent fried chicken that came out super hot. Cons: Kind of dirty tables, slow service

My girlfriend and I came here after reading an article about fried chicken in LA. We ordered a four piece chicken meal, with gravy, and a lemonade. The chicken was crispy and delicious. This review is for the catfish ONLY! I used to love going to the Honey’s Kettle in CPT when it was open and I ate chicken. They never had fish available, so this was my first time trying it. The batter was good and crispy and the fish was too soft. The ONE piece of fish was not that big to warrant an $ 8 plate, either, especially since it only came with fries! Nevertheless, fries were still good and crispy how I remember them to be. Biscuits aren’t as buttery as I remember, but were still mouth-watering with warm honey.

Coming from the South and being Asian — I’m definitely a connoisseur of Deep Fried [anything]. That’s why a place like Honey’s Kettle Fried Chicken gets me excited. There are so many places around the country claiming to have the best fried chicken, but in my biased opinion, it doesn’t get any better than this. They use some kind of batter that gets the exterior very crispy and puffy, but not too puffy. The batter and the chicken are also seasoned perfectly. Most of the time this place is pretty busy, so the chicken is made fresh all the time. The end result is super juicy and crazy crispy fried chicken. Even the chicken breasts are overflowing with juice as you bite into it. Paired with a couple of freshly baked buttermilk biscuits and you have glorious food coma for many hours afterwards.

Consistently bad customer service. The staff acts like it’s a huge inconvenience to have you there. Forget about getting a smile from anyone, you’re more likely to be met with disdain and a scowl. People seem to forget how important friendly service is, especially in the restaurant business. No one wants to eat a plate full of anger. I’ve also read too many reviews about people having undercooked chicken, deep-fried feathers, and uncooked biscuits to consider going back. Get it together, honey!

(Dined 02÷10÷16 W @ 4:15pm): Honey… ain’t no reason to be chicken about this fried Southern goodness! I first ate at Honey’s Kettle Fried Chicken nearly two years ago prior to a sudden cancellation of a Macallan Whisky tasting event at the nearby Book Bindery with a couple Pinoy pals of mine. For my second visit, I was in this neck of the«Hundred Acre Woods» for a market research project and basically Honey was«saying my name» just like Destiny’s Child! Would this place be the bees’ knees for me!?: Taster’s Deluxe Combo($ 11.50) : ~Fried Chicken Breast — I put my hands all over this juicy heaving breast with its wonderfully crunchy brown skin and easily guided it into my drooling agaped mouth. Add a drizzle of honey and some hot sauce here and there for a meal you wouldn’t soon forget as you licked your lips! ~Fried Fish Filet — This was one«BIGFISH» where a bigger mouth would’ve been handy! Fried to perfection, the creamy white meat broke apart easily with a gentle push of my tongue. I ate this«Dirrrty South» style instead of the prim and proper English way. ~Seasoned Fries — Whether the seasoning was Lawry’s or whatever magical dust Chick-fil-A had in those containers, I was sucking my fingers and guzzling my lemonade as if I were a starving Bedouin crossing the Sahara! The fries were plentiful with a crispy outside, steamy moist inside, and a good thickness. ~Hush Puppies — Two cornmeal nuggets surprisingly rolled out from underneath the pile of fries! These Southern donut holes were thick, piping hot, and tasted great with honey! ~Homemade Biscuit — Buttery goodness that was perfect eaten plain or smothered with some honey. Not crumbly or dry at all which was a plus! ~Cole Slaw — Normally not a fan and theirs did nothing to change my mind. However, I was more accepting of the Hawaiian-infused pineapple version. XL Souvenir Mason Jar Drink($ 5.50) — Not that I needed ANOTHER souvenir glass of anything, but I recalled that I was one shy from a 4-set, so I splurged and got this space-taker-upper. I loved their homemade lemonade so I filled up four times and another for the road. Not overly sweet with just a hint of tartness, this thirst-quencher was perfect for the hot weather of the day — chug chug good! Service — I was happily greeted by the staff as if I were Norm entering Cheers! Minutes later I placed my order with a very friendly woman who graciously complimented me on how good I smelled; talk about customer service… I’ll order one of everything! I was told it would take 10 minutes for my order to be ready — which it did, so I worked them with my lemonade refills while I waited. Hey, my self-esteem was pumped up so all was good. Parking($ 1.00 in this instance; Varies) — I didn’t notice the parking structure with FREE2-hour parking«behind» the restaurant until I walked past it across the street from where I pulled into the first 2-hour limit street meter I saw and paid for only 40-minutes’ worth of time($ 1.25/hour). Otherwise, there were numerous paid lots, structures, and meters in every direction. Atmosphere, décor, ambience — A medium-sized shaded front patio greeted you as you passed through the door into a vibrant somewhat spacious dining area with a mix of intimate, group, and communal table arrangements. Straight ahead was the open kitchen and order counter with an easy-to-read menu price board up above as well as another on the wall to your right. The walls were tastefully decorated with framed posters. Mainly electric lighting but sufficient sunlight came through the front glass walls and door. There were a couple TVs(muted) while music played in the background. Attire — Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, the rumblin’ in this Pooh Bear’s tumblin’ was easily quelled by the large meal at Honey’s Kettle Fried Chicken. The buzz about this place was real, and I sorely wished there was one closer to my humble abode. The menu was varied enough, and the customer service outstanding. Sure, a beer would’ve been nice and the prices a slight tick high, but the pros easily outweighed the cons. I found exceptionally good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above(TOTAL paid experience was around $ 20.00BEFORE tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice… AMEX! 4.5STARS

I was in the mood for something fried and buttery which is when Honey Kettle came to mind. I have been here a couple times before. Fried chicken with hot sauce, biscuits with honey, and really good cole slaw. Overall, I do enjoy Honey Kettle… however, my last experience may keep me away for good! My husband took a bite out of one of the chicken breasts and we were horrified to see blood flowing from the meat. We looked in the box and saw that the blood had also dripped into the box. ECK. I’ve seen chicken undercooked before but I have never seen blood oozing out of it… totally grossed me out. I tried to e-mail corporate via their website and I kept getting an 404 Not Found error message. I may come back for their biscuits and cole slaw though~

Yum! Fried chicken craving will be satisfied here! We stopped in for lunch on Monday. Ordered a couple lunch specials(2 piece and 3 piece) and really liked that you can pick your pieces, although I may have received a thigh instead of a breast… The fried chicken is fresh, hot, juicy and good. Is it my favorite ever? Probably not, but it’s still very good. Are the biscuits still the most ridiculously amazing carbs? F yes they are! I only had one! Of course, I’d like you have eaten them by the dozen but had to exhibit some self control so stuck very politely to the one that came with my meal. If I ever fall ill and am in some sort of situation where I need to gain tons of weight, I’ll be ordering these things by the bucket full and drizzling honey ALLOVER! I’m in love with them! I could have done without the fries. I don’t like fries much at all and these were not at all impressive in anyway whatsoever. I could have also done without the sweet pickes(3 or 4 small ones) on the side. I love pickles but maybe not sweet pickles. I ate them, but didn’t care for them and don’t need them in the future. Price wise you may be better off ordering by the piece(4, 8, or larger options if need be) and ordering biscuits on the side. The price per lunch meal compared to ordering a la carte doesn’t seem to make much sense but I didn’t really put this together quick enough while making a fast decision in line to order and not wanting to hold up other customers. Every last seat inside was taken when we arrived, but slowly cleared out. The restroom was out of service but there is a restroom next door at Tender Greens if you need to wash off the grease at a healthier joint that doesn’t fry their chicken.

Honey’s Kettle has become the spot where a friend and I meet up when we have a taste for fried chicken and want to catch up. The fried chicken, biscuits and blueberry lemonade are really good! I am a condiments person and always get sides of honey and hot sauce from the self serve dispenser while waiting for my food as well. The customer service is decent and the wait time for food isn’t too long. While I have had an overall good experience at this restaurant, I will say I was not a fan of the spicy wings which I recently tried. There was a spicy sauce poured over the wings when I was just expecting a spicy seasoning. I think that should be explained on the menu, but other than that I would recommend giving Honey’s Kettle a try!

I love fried chicken, period. My fave is Church’s so I will always use that as a comparison. Honey’s Kettle is good, but not great. I do love the consistency of the skin and its crunchiness, but it lacks flavor, IMO. Would I come back? Sure, if I’m in the area. But would I purposely drive up here for their fried chicken? Probably not. However, their honey is legit. Lemonade was excellent too.

I love fried chicken, and I think Honey’s is pretty good, however, I don’t think it is as amazing as the number of high reviews indicate. I think the chains(KFC, Church’s, Popeye’s) provide a pretty good product already. Personally I prefer the spicy chicken from Popeye’s. I think the hot honey is a bit gimmicky, and I think it is kinda gross on savory fried chicken. Not really my thing.

Top-notch fried chicken. Not the best I’ve had, but certainly up there. On the other hand, bottom-notch service. A friend of mine moved out of town but had a Groupon he had purchased for Honey’s Kettle. It was expired, but as with Groupons in general, it said that while the deal aspect expired, the coupon would hold its face value for good. However when I tried to use it, the cashier told me that they don’t take Groupons and that I’d have to take it up with Groupon. So I walked out. It’s pretty terrible business to agree to sell Groupons, agree to Groupon’s terms, and then decide later that you don’t feel like abiding by those terms.

Fried Chicken and Biscuits. It’s a combination as old as time. There are many renditions and as a chicken fan, I even like some of the chain versions like Popeye’s. Honey’s came highly recommended and I quickly learned why. The chicken is all deep fried to order(not sitting around like KFC) and has both a honey dipping sauce or hot sauce to complement it. It’s piping hot, with a lovely crispy skin. Unlike some other places, the fried skin is unseasoned or just lightly seasoned so you just savor the chicken flavor. The companion piece is the fresh made biscuits. Given everything is made fresh to order, it takes about 10 – 15 minutes to get everything but it’s worth it. We tried both the blueberry biscuits which had whole pieces of blueberry and were not overly sweet and the standard biscuits which were nice and flakey. Honey’s Kettle satisfied my fried chicken craving and is a worthwhile stop for any fried chicken aficionado. Honey’s Kettle accepts credit cards, including Amex.

I guarantee you nothing will satisfy you like a bit of crunchy, sweet and succulent fried chicken. Head over to Honey’s Kettle for good old fashioned fried chicken to satisfy that craving. For a lover of fried chicken, my assessment of Honey’s is that it’s simple, delicious and handy. The chicken here is as it should be — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. No fancy trimmings — just the basics: biscuits with honey, fries, mashed potatoes, macaroni salad, etc. This isn’t a fancy place — much like a shopping center fast food joint. But no one comes here for the ambience. Just the food. You can eat up and then get some dessert or drinks around the area!

The fried chicken has a lovely, thin, crispy coating on the outside and the chicken was moist on the inside. I would have liked a little more seasoning in the batter, but overall the chicken was delicious. The hot sauce at the counter was light and tangy and added to the taste of the chicken. The biscuits were light and fluffy and I could definitely eat a whole batch of them with the warm honey provided at the counter. The corn was cooked perfectly and covered with butter. The fries needed a little more time as I found them to be a little soggy, but they had a good flavor. Service was fast and friendly and food was good. Will stop in again if I have a friend chicken hankering.

Last time I had wet batter fried chicken was in NOLA, place called Willie Mae’s Scotch House. The proprietor of that place, the great Willie Mae Seaton passed away recently at 99 years old! So RIP to her. But on to my take on why I love Honey Kettle’s version even more. That light, crispy moist flavorlicious fried chicken was made to order, the way it should be go figure that! I love the wet batter style more just cause I grew up on that. Most casual fried chicken joints(not a sit-down restaurant) I had been hitting up that chicken was fried and sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long… which I hate. They don’t have choices like mild or spicy which I kind of like. That’s what the hot sauce is for anyways. The dispenser of warm honey that you can pump out is so smart! That drizzled on your chicken is the bizness with some hot sauce… Please get familiar with that flavor bomb combination of sweet and heat if your not in the know. Loved the reusable mason jar with the handle I get with my drink order. Only thing I’m not a fan of is the biscuits. Tasted more of the consistency of corn bread than a flaky biscuit which I prefer. Just stick to the damn chicken right? The bird is the word. Goodness I’m drooling thinking about it.

A friend once told me that Honey’s Kettle was the home of her favorite fried chicken … ever. I’ve tasted some pretty good fried chicken, so I was eager to experience this place. Of course, it was once I moved from L.A. that I got to experience this chicken when I was visiting town. I had eaten lunch earlier, but a friend and I dropped into Honey’s Kettle around 3:30 p.m., since he works near the area. We were able to find street parking nearby and of course, since it wasn’t exactly lunch nor dinner time, the eatery wasn’t crowded. I knew I wanted to get some kind of dish with fried chicken, but I also knew that I didn’t want a whole lot of food, since I wasn’t too hungry. We were the only customers in the restaurant, but it still took a long time for our food to come out, for some reason. Once the food did come, I’m glad we were able to enjoy a quiet meal in the peacefulness of the eatery. Here’s what we ordered: «Breast and Biscuit»: I like chicken breast over chicken wings, and since this eatery is known for their biscuits as well, I decided to get the best of both worlds. Plus, the pairing for these two items wasn’t too expensive. The chicken was definitely succulent, moist and tender. I liked the golden-brown exterior, which wasn’t overly crispy. The biscuit was buttery and super soft; though I wouldn’t say it’s the best biscuit I’ve ever had, I was glad I got to try it. The fried chicken was definitely good and I wouldn’t be opposed to visiting Honey’s Kettle again. However, I wouldn’t say it was the best fried chicken I’ve ever tasted. «Blackened Catfish»: My friend loves catfish, so he was excited to see this on the menu. However, I think he was disappointed with the turnout … especially because they got his order wrong. He said the catfish wasn’t as flavorful as he would have liked, and he had to wait extra long because there was a mistake on his order(they gave him the wrong side; he got mashed potatoes when he specifically requested NOT mashed potatoes). But, Honey’s Kettle redeemed itself in my friend’s mind because the hush puppies that he ordered on the side were delicious. He said he would get the hush puppies again if he ever came back. My friend said he probably wouldn’t go out of his way to visit this place, based on our experience, but if he came back, he would try something else from the menu. «Premium Kettle Chicken Sandwich»: If I ever wanted a sandwich from here, this is the one I would choose right off. It combines the chicken with fresh-baked bread. This is probably a good lunch option if I’m feeling like something light. «Four Jumbo Fish Stix»: I do love fish, so I’m interested to try the fish from here. I’m sure it tastes fresh … I did try my friend’s catfish and it was decent, so I’m willing to give this fishy entrée a try. «Hotcakes and Chicken»: A lot of southern joints have chicken and waffles, but Honey’s Kettle has hotcakes and chicken. Because this entrée is different, I would love to try it one day. I would get the three hotcakes and one piece of breast fillet option, since I like chicken breast more than chicken wings.

This is my favorite fried chicken place in Los Angeles. I have tried fried chicken in various places in Los Angeles including Roscoe’s but I like Honey’s Kettle the most. We have been coming here for years now and we love it every time we come. It can get busy during peak hours, so you may need to wait for a table or get your orders. You can place an order over the phone, if you want to limit your waiting time. We have done to-go order before, but I prefer to eat at the restaurant for the warm and freshness. We usually get a family pack that comes with 8 pieces of chicken, 2 fries, 4 biscuits, 1 pickle and 1 pint of salad of your choice. I think it is a pretty good portion and you might have some leftovers if you don’t eat a lot. I love dipping the warm fried chicken into their honey and hot sauce. It can get a little messy but I love it! Their biscuits and fresh lemonades are good. We did not get to order it, but we saw someone else ordering blueberry lemonade and it looked good and wish we ordered it too. On fridays, they have sample fridays. They have a tray of samples of the day that you can try. The service can be hit or miss but their foods are definitely worth coming here though. However, the service is somewhat limited to begin with since you have to order at the cashier and pick it up when they call your name. I tried Honey’s Kettle Fried Chicken for lunch a couple of days ago when I was working in Culver City. I generally don’t prefer to get deep fried chicken for lunch but am always ready to make an exception for Southern Fried Chicken. At the peak lunch hour they seemed to be pretty full and there was a line almost out of the door, but it moved fast and I was up in less than 5 minutes. I decided to get the Three Piece Chicken lunch($ 10.50) and skipped the combo(+$ 5 for Cole slaw and Lemonade) as I felt it would be too much for lunch. The lady behind the register seemed to be in a really bad mood and looked ready to shout if you asked a question so I was thankful to get away with a scowl. Please lighten up so that you present a warm inviting environment to your patrons. After ordering I waited for what seemed like an eternity to pick up my order. I noticed that people behind me were getting their orders but not me, so I had to interact with the lady in the foul mood. It seems they call out names from your credit card rather than order number which is just brilliant as the poor Asian girl behind the counter could not pronounce my name so after two tries she figured it was better to just keep my food hanging on the counter which as per the lady behind the counter was all my fault. Super!!! Anyway lets come to the food. The chicken looked really greasy but it was manageable. I would say that it was about 10−15% more greasy than say what you would get at a KFC so it was not that bad. The chicken inside was also nice and juicy. However I did not like the batter that coated the chicken so even though the chicken was fried right it did not suit my taste. The fries were good, but the innocuous looking biscuit was a winner. Absolutely terrific. I’ve run into places where I’ve not liked their signature item but have been blow away by their sides and this is one of those places. Price wise it was a little high if you would compare this to a KFC but considering that this is a standalone restaurant in the Culver City it was fine. Overall I would say that the chicken was not bad, just that it did not suit my tastes so If I even come back here it will be to grab a bunch of their biscuits which were delicious.

Located down the street from Sony Studios on Culver Blvd is this small restaurant, hidden among a slew of other restaurants, behind a signal light and trees, and just steps from a Tender Greens. There’s outside and indoor communal dining, but most people take the food to go. This place has been raved by many, including Unilocalers, Huffington Post, the Food Network and the LA Times. It’s been on my bucket list, and I finally got the opportunity to try this chicken place. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, right before noon and found parking in a structure off Cardiff(first 2 hours free). We almost couldn’t find the place, but thankfully I looked on a map beforehand, saw the Tender Greens nearby and knew we were close. When we walked in, the place was smaller than I expected and fortunately not busy. That didn’t last long, as the crowd filtered in shortly after we ordered. After looking at the menu, I ordered the Sunday Dinner, which was 2 pieces of chicken, yams, green beans, mashed potatoes and biscuit, but was told it was only for Sunday. Bummer! Instead, I settled for the 2-piece chicken, mashed potatoes and biscuit. Stephen ordered the Tasters Deluxe, which was a chicken, 2-pieces of fried catfish, fries, macaroni salad and biscuit. We had to wait 5 – 8 minutes for our food because Stephen’s fish had to be specially made, but everything was freshly made. Even with the wait, the fried chicken was piping hot! It’s very crunchy on the outside, juicy and tender inside. I especially liked the sides. The mashed potatoes were homemade and chunky, and the chicken gravy on top was delicious. I even liked the fries, and could not stop stealing some from Stephen’s basket. If you like fried catfish, Stephen said it was very tasty, and he would get that again. Overall nothing bad to say. They offer a honey sauce and a hot sauce/Tabasco-like sauce to go with your food. We left stuffed, but I still think it’s a little pricey… for fast food, but I’d go back again, especially for the mashed potatoes and fries. Two hours free parking at the structure off Cardiff, or there’s metered street parking.

My friend recommended this place 2 years ago and I finally had the chance to experience this hype. Here was my take on an early Saturday evening. Parking: Street parking is limited. There is structure parking too but this is quite a busy place sooooo good luck! Seating: Very family/group style. Seats are inside and outside and can accommodate for 50 people in groups of 4 or more. Feels: The fact you’re in Downtown Culver City provides a nice charm. Surrounded by people/tourists and a few friendly homeless people. There’s one huge tv that was playing the USC game if you’re into that kind of stuff. Background music is quite soulful with Musiq Soulchild and India Arie playing. My only knock is the business and the inconsistent volume of the speaker when they call for orders. Food: 3 Piece Chicken, Fries & a Biscuit —(Recommended) For those playing it safe, best way to go. The biscuit was served fresh and had a different texture to it, same crisp, good juice to the chicken and flavor but not as fluffy if that makes sense. The fried chicken had a unique batter as well, definitely not your everyday KFC. Fries were solid and definitely delivered, crispy and well seasoned. Don’t forget the ketchup, honey, and additional sauce. Blueberry Mint Lemonade(Recommend) For a pretty hot day, this was worth it. The blueberry and mint was most salient. Customer Service: Our orders came in a reasonable time. One unfortunate occasion was when I asked for a to-go box, our worker forgot… it took about a good ridiculous 10 minutes. Overall: Quite a pleasant experience. The food was affordable, price was right, and the ambiance was wonderful. I enjoyed my time here and I look forward to coming back. There is more in the menu that I need to explore. TL;DR Tips: * 30 cents for refills on a drink. * IT can get packed as there’s one cashier, so call ahead of time!

I will always and forever be a fan of Honey’s. For a two piece meal with a biscuit and fries for about $ 10-$ 11, it is most definitely a good value for what you get. It is a bit on the greasy side, so I personally try to stay away and come only once in a while. You get to pick any two pieces of chicken, which are breaded and fried to perfection. It sort of tastes like a tempura batter, but has a more savory flavor to it. The biscuit isn’t flaky like typical biscuits are and it reminds me more of a dinner roll if anything. I don’t know what they do to the fries, but they also have a distinct taste. Of course everything is a hundred times better when you eat it with honey and hot sauce! I only had to knock off a star because they charge for the secret sauce, which used to be free when I first started coming here. WHACK.

The fried chicken is good, don’t get me wrong but I’m basing this review off of inadequate sanitation of the tables. I got an order of the 3 piece meal(comes with a biscuit and fries) and you get to choose your 3 favorite types of chicken(wing, thigh, breast, leg) which I thought was pretty generous. I was allowed to substitute fries for a side of macaroni salad which was nice too. I liked the chicken, it was nice and crispy, just the way I like it. Lots of flavor, especially when you pair it with the Louisiana hot sauce that you can get. Pretty bomb. However, I was extremely disappointed with the dirty tables filled throughout the restaurants. I asked the employee behind the counter if they had a rag so I could wipe the table and seat down. He told me they did and handed me a rag for ME to wipe down. I thought it was their job to clean the tables!!! Anyhow, I wiped the tables and seats myself… Poor customer service. The employee apologized after cause he probably heard me complaining to my friends but I was definitely left dazed and confused…

Some of those who know me best often tell me I’m like a bear at times meaning I hibernate by sleeping too much and that if there is honey anywhere in the area you so know I’m going to find it and consume it all! Honey chicken you so know that’s what attracted me to come here as the two always go super well together! Not really sure what to expect I just kinda went here on my way home from Magic Mountain when I pulled up I was lucky to find a parking place on the street as in any place in LA parking isn’t the best but I lucked out here. Once inside I was happy to see that you just head to the counter to make an order as I was kinda tired and didn’t really wanna sit and wait for a server just wanted to eat and get home! The have a variety of different chicken combos or family meals to ensure everyone gets a good amount of chicken with their meal. Of these I just got the two piece combo of a breast and a leg that came with a bed of fries a biscuit and some bread and butter pickle chips. The chicken itself was oh so good when it comes to fried chicken you so know it’s all about the crispy crunchy skin and that’s definitely what I got here as the chicken was delicious and even more scrumptious when you put a little bit of their honey sauce or Louisiana hot sauce on it. The fries were also very good they had a bit of seasoning on them and like I said bear status you so know that i dipped them in the honey sauce because that’s just the way to go here! The biscuit was flaky buttery and warm everything that it should be the only thing that was missing was the honey sauce so once it was added it just became delicious as did the rest of my meal! This is an awesome little spot and you so know that I will be coming back here at one point when I start craving things that go delicious with the awesome yummyness that is honey!
