Warning! Do not come here if you do not want to get ripped off. Waaaaaay overpriced. $ 60 for an unsatisfactory meal of watered down and substance lacking gumbo and tiny portion of shrimp and grits. The egg roll Mac and chew as a joke for $ 5. Not coming back here for sure.

1st Timer !!! The whole experience was great. Upon walking in we were immediately greeted and engaged in conversation. Felt like I was visiting my cousins house. Got the Shrimp & Grits(Major), Braised Greens(Booming), fried Catfish(slamming), THEY(not two cents) didn’t want me to get the strawberry cake … So you know what I did? I got the strawberry cake! & you should too. The mixed Iced Tea is a MUST !!!

Yummm southern comfort food in an unassuming plaza. We tried/shared the plaintain stuffed pork chop, fried catfish, grit fries(«gries»), oxtail tacos, dirty rice, and greens. We each also received a complimentary side of corn bread with honey… so good! The food overall was really good, but I think the meal needed a bit of acid just to break up the heaviness of it all. I wish I could come back just for more corn bread though! Definitely worth a try!

We arrived about 30 minutes after the restaurant opened on a Saturday and it was already packed. Definitely a sign of good things to come and we were not disappointed. My friend had the Bbq fried chicken, dirty rice, and grits fries. I had shrimp and grits with the vegetarian soul rolls. We both had lemonade. Everything was delicious — quality ingredients, well seasoned, and excellent preparation. Service was good. More café-like, covered outdoor seating would be nice, but there was seating, so no complaints here. We/I will definitely return.

Sort the My Two Cents Unilocal reviews by «Lowest Rated» and you’ll see a distinct and GLARING theme of poor organizational management that has pissed off and created many former customers(more of them recently). I gave this place another fair try only to be sorely disappointed. The food will probably be good –if you ever get it. My second experience here was laughable for the pathetic disregard for customer service. I ordered online, paid in advance with credit card. Wait time was estimated at 35 minutes. I showed up 30 minutes later happy to wait a bit longer. After waiting behind 6 others who ordered dine-in at the register, my wait had grown to almost an hour. Finally reached the register and the guy said my take out order hadn’t been placed(I had an email confirmation) He said, «Well, what do you want to order?» I placed my 2-entrée order again and waited and waited and waited and waited, sitting by the register for almost an hour, politely asking about the order status several times to which he replied«It’s almost ready.» I watched 9(NINE) customers come in after me, get their dine-in food served at their tables and were eating while I waited for food I had already paid for. The staff seemed completely chaotic. Parking is an absolute nightmare so I parked 2 blocks away. I had to run out and feed my meter on an order I had placed 90 minutes earlier. Then I had to leave without the food because I had booked an appointment mistakenly thinking I could get a take-out order from My Two Cents and enjoy it in less than 2 hours. I learned. And as of this posting there’s a B in the window. Based on what I saw, that doesn’t surprise me. They better keep making good grits to compensate for their lack because the service ain’t worth 2 cents. If you’d like to experience some stunning soul food while being treated like a valuable customer, try«The Spot» about a block away. Unilocal them. They are amazing. And they won’t ignore you.

Amazing! This place is worth every penny, every cent. I ordered the shrimp and grits, albeit it’s a small portion it’s delicious. So much flavor. My girl ordered the salmon and red beans and rice. Salmon was perfectly grilled and the flavor unmatched. They even have vegan options. This place is one of LA best kept secrets.

Wow can’t believe the hype on this place. Like WOW. It is just okay. Food is good to average. Service is good. Ambiance is terrible. Super loud, noisy and annoying. Not all that clean… I won’t return.

Customer service is great. Food is good, I had the shrimp and grits and I liked it. The green tomato po’boy was good. The cobbler and crazy cake was not impressive at all. Overall the place is good, I may have to try something else to get amazed… but for now it’s good.

Came into a crowded and quite noisy environment, eventually got to appreciate the busy ambience. You order and pay upfront ahead of time and you can either do take out or wait for a open spot. Water is self served. We got two brunch specials, the bbq fried chicken, cheese grits, baked egg(one egg), and«soul biscuits» combo for $ 15 and the breakfast po’ boy for $ 12. The first combo was absolutely delicious. The chicken was tender and lightly crispy, mixed really well with the creamy cheese grits. Baked egg was cooked just right, with juicy egg yolk in the middle. The soul biscuit was hot, fresh, and extremely soft — great with the cheese grits. The breakfast po’boy was good but not anything too amazing. The sandwich was packed with perfectly cooked bacon bacon, but I felt like the amount of bacon overpowered the rest of the sandwich. I will definitely come back another time and try the oxtail tacos and get the first combo again.

I’ve been here a few times and every time I come I try to get something different because everything seems so good here. First off let me start off by saying the service here is outstanding! They have some of the friendliest people working here and they seem like they are happy to be here. Also, if it’s your first time they bang on pots and pans and scream out, I believe, «first timers» or something like that lol. It’s pretty cool and makes you feel special. The restaurant is a little small and crowded especially if you come with a party of 9 like we did, but they also have seating outside. There definitely shouldn’t be an issue finding seating though. As for the food, I decided to go with: SEAFOODGUMBO — Blue Crab, lump crab, shrimp, veggie andouille sausage and pickled okra. It was very good and a little spicy but not too much. The flavor was perfect but the only thing was it was a small portion for the price. SWEETPOTATOPECANCRUMBLE — This was pretty good as well. It’s covered with an outer layer of pecan crumble and the inside is filled with sweet potato. I don’t really like sweet potato but this was awesome. The cornbread was very delicious and had like a honey sweet taste on the crust. I probably ate 3 of them by myself. Overall, I will definitely be back and the good news is, it’s 5 mins from my job so I get to spoil myself with some good home style southern cooking. The price is a little steep for the amount of food you get, but you don’t find places this good too often. OOOO 4 out of 5 Afros

What a find! Thank you Unilocal for cluing me into this fine restaurant. Came here on 12÷12÷15 around 3ish and all the staff was amazing. Very cheerful and excited to have first timers dining with them. They all suggested their favorite items on the menu and tried to narrow down the selections but they didn’t help because they all had such great things to say about every item. After a few minutes and browsing pictures provided by awesome Unilocalers my friend and I decided on GRITFRIES, MACANDCHEESE, CORNBREAD, FRIEDCHICKENCLUB, ANDFRIEDCATFISHANDRICE. Ok so GRITFRIES– absolutely delicious! They’re perfectly fried and crispy on the outside and hot and soft on the inside. Sort of reminds me of McDonald’s hash browns but way way better. 5 stars*** MACANDCHEESE– this was also really yummy. Just the right amount of noodles to cheese ratio and plenty of flavor. 5 stars*** CORNBREAD– warm with a slight sweetened coating on top. One of the better corn breads I’ve ever had. 4 ½stars*** FRIEDCHICKENCLUB– oh my so good. The chicken was fried to perfection with just the right about of bread, lettuce and idk what their sauce was but it was really good and pairs well with everything. Came with a side salad that was dressed a nice vinaigrette. 5 stars*** FRIEDCATFISHANDRICE. Catfish was nice and juicy inside with a nice crust on the outside, Nice flavoring. Rice is so good. Idk what they flavored it with but it was goooood! 4 ½ stars*** Service 5 stars***** everyone single person was so nice and attentive. They made us feel so welcome. They checked on us countless times. Didn’t hesitate to suggest what they like/loved on the menu. Parking was a pain. I found parking ok but when I was trying to leave there were 3 cars parked randomly blocking my way… So I had to wait a little while before I could leave. Ehhh regardless Ima coming back!

Everything about this place makes me feel like I’m eating at someone’s home. The entire staff is super inviting and friendly, the owner often circulates around to each table making sure everyone is enjoying themselves, the quaint décor feels like a living room and the food has a home-cooked feel to it. As a pescatarian(non meat-eating) lover of soul food, My Two Cents has a special place in my heart. They take classics like catfish poboys, shrimp and grits and gumbo and make them healthier and higher quality. The gumbo is a must try. It’s filled with crab, shrimp, vegan sausage(great taste and texture) and quinoa. More must-try’s: catfish club, shrimp and grits, goat cheese salad

I ordered the Creole shrimp and grits for $ 14. Their interpretation of Shrimp and Grits is not spicy even through the menu described it as Creole. The Shrimp and Grits were served in a wood bowl. The coarse white grits were mixed with mild cheese and covered with a flavorful chicken broth with a large mound of boiled shrimp on top. Comfort food My friend ordered the pork chop with plantain stuffing. The pork chop had amazing flavors and is not to be missed. The staff is very animated and greeted everyone with banging of pans and cheers. I would not order the grits again because I enjoy other interpretations of this dish, but I would order that pork chop any day of the week. They allow you a couple of free refills on your lemonade or tea and we were provided free cornbread. It’s somewhat small inside, and there are few tables outside. Parking is metered.

Definitely 5 Stars, my girlfriend and I went here for lunch today and it was so delightful, with the exception of the cashier(no personality, no nothing) our server Mario on the other hand made up for her. It has a SHAGGYCHICDECOR, did I get that right, Smh, ROTFLOL It is Trendy with the open ceiling and the long wooden table in the center, the counter is made of wood as well, however the chairs and other furnishing do not match, which creates a very comfy feeling. It is a small place and the customers realize that and are nice and friendly.(lots of squeezing by going on) I loved their little High-Tech payment system which allows you to add your tip into your payment. I disagree with community tipping, I feel a person should give good service and earn their tips(JUSSAYIN) They have street parking, the meters take credit cards as well as coins. The food was really exceptional, so fresh and delicious and seasoned to perfection and the beefs were tender. I had the Grits and Shrimp, so did my girl friend, however she also ordered the Oxtail Tacos and the Mixed Green Salad with Goat Cheese fried in Panko Batter, all lip smacking good. I TASTETHEMALL! I ordered the Meatloaf Turkey Burger to go for my hubby and he was very happy with my selection and of course I taste his Burger as well. All of it was Spot On! I am so sorry that we both forgot to order dessert, all the desserts look Sinfully Delish, I knew I should have ordered my dessert first(life is short, go for the good stuff first), that is a big REGRET, however when I return I will order my desserts first and I do mean desserts. Pumpkin Pound Cake, Strawberry Cake, Chocolate Cake, Apple Cobbler, etc. tons of sugar and I am now craving all of it, Lol Oooh BTW, they make Gumbo and many other desserts, they serve Lemonade and other beverages and specialty bottled drinks also. Now you have MYTWOCENTS, about My Two Cents!!!

I want to love this place, but sadly, it’s just OK. The customer service was excellent =5stars, the staff is friendly and very helpful. They share a small parking lot, so parking can be a challenge. Now on to the food. I ordered take-out. Maybe that is the first mistake on my part. It is very rare to have food taste as good at home when it has been stuffed in a box. I ordered the oxtail tacos, which I admit were very tasty, but for $ 9 for 3 small tacos? Not worth the drive. I also ordered the sweet potato pie and the peach cobbler. I THREW away the $ 6 cobbler that was no more than 3oz. It was awful. The dough was gummy and the peaches tasted like pumpkin spice and something else that was just off. I can eat almost anything, but that cobbler was terrible. The sweet potato pie was average at best and for $ 8.50, definitely not worth it. Sorry, I won’t be back, at least for desserts or take out.

Here’s my two cents. Dang! That is some goodass Creole Shrimp & Grits! The entrée was very buttery, but not too overwhelming. These were probably the best grits that I’ve tried so far. I’ll come back just for this Fried BBQ Chicken was just okay. I’ve had better fried chicken Honey Biscuits were freshly baked with a layer of honey on time. I thought the biscuits were on the drier side. Parking: There is a tiny lot in the plaza, but you’ll most likely won’t find any spots. Just try looking for metered street parking.

My Two Cents is a 5 minute walk from my place and has quickly become a favorite. Everything on the menu looks amazing but I get the shrimp and grits 90% of the time. The grits come in the cutest wooden bowl with the most delicious soupy sauce on top. The portion size is perfect and I’m always full by the time I finish. I’ve also had the of the Plantain stuffed pork chop and the vegan spaghetti. Both are amazing and worth trying. The energy and vibe of the place is great as well. It gets pretty loud when they are busy between the small space and the banging on pots and pans when new people arrive. I’ve never seen any of the workers there without a huge smile on their face.

Pro tips for n00bs: 1. Order the Shrimp & Grits. 2. Sit outside or wear ear plugs. #1 because it’s the best you’ll find outside of the Bible Belt. #2 because they welcome all first timers by banging miscellaneous kitchen items with as much force as what the Mountain applied to Prince Oberyn’s eye sockets. (My heart is still broken.)

I came to My 2 Cents(M2C) looking forward to trying some soul food different from it’s competitors and I was very pleased! From the outside it is unassuming. It’s a small spot with an equally tiny shared lot. It’s near Little Ethiopia if you happen to miss your way. So when you walk in the employees all say hi to you in a cheery tone, how lovely! You order at the counter and your food is brought to you. I chose to get the shrimp and grits and a side of biscuits. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits. I didn’t care for all the accompanying broth, but the dish was still a solid one. However, the biscuits were a bit dry for my liking. I love dessert so I had to try one of their several dessert options. I got the peach cobbler. Sooo good! I felt bad cause I finished it by myself before realizing my friends didn’t get to try some. Oops. I loved the presentation of the cobbler. It was worth the extra long time it took to come out. My friends ordered Mac and cheese and I wish I liked mac and cheese cause M2C’s mac smelled heavenly! My friend enjoyed her catfish and rice and my other friend had no complaints about his hummus and pita chips. The ambiance is very upbeat! If they find out it’s your first time get ready for the employees to let the other patrons know that lol. The owner was personable and even had the staff shout out where I live, it was funny cause no one shouts out Palos Verdes anywhere. The prices were higher than I was expecting but I think that reflects the higher quality of ingredients they use and cause several dishes are gluten free.
