I was able to make an appointment last minute with Kathy Lopez. (this is my first time here) I walked in there with an ombré from hell and Kathy was able to turn my damaged and lifeless hair into something amazing. Everyone there was super nice and extremely friendly. I am definitely going to come back.

Revising this post because the stylist reached out to me. While we still don’t see eye to eye (actually, she had a different recollection of what transpired), I appreciate that she took the time to write to me and explain herself, albeit very passive aggressively.
Update: Since seeing Vanessa I made an appointment with another stylist, who was able to fix the unevenness of the bangs, the terrible layering, and also thinned out my hair. The stylist also noticed a gap, but said it wasn’t deep and was able to incorporate that piece into my hair to make it unnoticeable. I’m not sure if what she said was true (I’m not a hair stylist nor a dermatologist after all), but I do know that my hair looks and feels much better.

Finding this salon was the answer to all my hair problems! I make appointments for trims and colorings with Ashley religiously. My hair has never been more healthy or looked better. I have not had one bad hair day since Ashley started taking care of my hair!

Fantastic local salon at very reasonable price. I got my long, dead mane cut into a «lob» (long bob for those of you who haven’t kept up with your Pinterest lately). The stylist listened to all my hair worries and concerns over losing about 8 inches and cut me a very modern style. I was thrilled. She also straightened it to photo-​shop perfection and then did quick dry cut adjustments. Clearly very detail oriented and very diligent. Will be back very soon for a color.

Jan has been my hairdresser for a few years now. She’s great! Rates are reasonable, she makes sure that you leave the salon happy with her work, and she’s so much fun to be with.
My hair is very long, thick and curly. So, it requires extra work and time, and special expertise. Not all hairdressers know how to deal with my hair. This is not a problem for Jan. She’s always happy to see me and she’s always done a great job. For as long as I’ll be in L.A., I won’t be going anywhere but to her for my hair.

Did exactly what I asked for. She was easygoing and makes you feel relaxed. Not too chatty or weirdly silent and uncomfortable. I like that she is honest about your hair and has a good intuition on how to fix it. I wanted to make the appointment short and didn’t want a hair-​dry or products in my hair and she did great without pressuring me, wanting to make it «perfectly styled». A look which you will never ever have unless you go to a salon everyday. I wanted a natural careful treatment of my hair and so she did. I can not complain and is definitely going back. I think sooner then later. She is good with a modern cut or a more traditional one. I wanted a pixie cut and will be going back to make it shorter soon! Good price and she did NOT give me a stare when I added the tip. I am sure you guys have felt that whenever adding in tips. It made me give her the top tip, which I always do UNLESS they are confrontational when it comes to the tipping. Take a hint people — «begging» for a tip gives you less tip.

I wasn’t very satisfied with the services rendered. I’d called for an appointment for a cut and a consult since it was my first time there. When I arrived I was told they only had me down for a consult, wickity wack!!!
However, I stuck it through and sat for a bang trim and a refresher cut. Big mistake… sometime during my bang trim girl (I can’t even bring myself to call her a stylist) just gave up! She literally said «I don’t know how to fix it.» My hair is wavy, it’s not THAT difficult…
I figured I’d just have a little trust and walked out with some less than ok bangs, but thought «maybe I just need to let them live a little and try styling them to my liking…» But this was not the case; a few days later and I was finding long strands mixed in into my bangs that just didn’t belong and other strands that did not look like they were part of that family.
I gave them a 2 star because they didn’t leave me bald so that’s a plus I suppose.

Great location in Culver, very relaxed environment, and excellent results. Kathy cut my (wayyy too long) hair and did a truly phenomenal job with the perfect amount of layers and shaping. Her blowout was also absolutely amazing and I’m still trying to keep it going even 3 days later! I would absolutely recommend Kathy for haircuts and blowouts. (The only con I can even think of was that on the phone I was given a quote for $ 60 and the haircut ended up being $ 75– not a big deal, just would have liked to hear that beforehand.) I’ve included pics that don’t even do her haircut justice– it was so bouncy and shiny and wonderful!

I love Faith Maxson here. I followed her from her previous place. This is a great location, and she always does an amazing job for a very reasonable price. She’s corrected my color a few times, as well as regular cuts that are always layered just right, and grow out nicely. I very highly recommend her. I can usually get an appointment for that week.

Susana did it again! I didn’t let anyone touch my hair since she last touched it. I literally wait a year before being able to get back in her hands to cut my hair and once again she’s done an amazing job and on top of that… this time she got me to go shorter and I am so happy!

I specifically made a Unilocal account so that I can rave about how amazing Faith is. If you want your hair to look amazing then come find her because she is straight MAGIC.
I moved to San Diego recently but that won’t stop me from booking appointments with her. She is literally the only person I trust to touch my hair. One thing I love about her is that you can tell her exactly what you want and she will make it happen. I’ve been to other salons where I tell them I only want two inches trimmed and they end up cutting off 6 inches. Like who the hell does that? NOT Faith! I guarantee that she’ll make your hair better than the way you imagined it.
Another thing that’s cool is how personable she is. She’ll talk to you the whole time which makes time fly faster and she’s hilarious, super duper down to earth. Not only does she give my hair life but I can actually consider her a friend as well.
She’s actually doing my ombré in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait! Thanks for everything, Faith! You are the real MVP! Haha.

Never been here and probably won’t now despite its just a few blocks from my house and close to the salon I use for facials. I
I Called to inquire about a men’s touch up haircut, I’m in the process of letting my hair grow-​out so it’s not so maintenance intensive with haircuts every 14 – 18 days, and was told anything other then a neck trim starts at 43.00 depending on the stylist and is considered a full haircut.
Any business that’s honest has straight forward pricing and can give you a fair price quote for the service you’ve requested.
In their defense I think some salons have taken this approach because some guys say «I was quoted this amount» but requested more then a maintenance type cut…
Regardless they didn’t explain anything of the sort.
I was hoping they had fair prices as they have good reviews for color and I get blonde highlights a few times a year, it’s certainly not worth paying 43.00 for five minutes of over ear shaping to establish being a client here.

I’ve been w Faith for 2 yrs & followed her when she moved to this location. She’s does an amazing job & explains in detail of what she’s doing. Faith is so friendly & makes you feel comfortable. I Just Love Her !

Grace is an absolute miracle worker. She listened to everything I had to say and gave me the best haircut. The last salon I went to completely messed up my hair, it was uneven and made no sense. Grace was able to fix it. The atmosphere in this salon is so welcoming and open. I finally found a hair dresser I love. If you are looking for a great hair cut see Grace, you won’t be disappointed.

First visit to Sol Salon yesterday for a haircut and deep conditioning (I used a Groupon.) Raquel was sweet and really listened to what I wanted out of my haircut and delivered.
Only complaint: parking is a bit of an annoyance because it’s a one hour meter.

Susana is an artist. When I show her a picture of the haircut I want, she manifests it.
I’ve followed her to three different salons, and Sol is my favorite: friendly, bright, and easy parking. I’m making a standing monthly appointment-​Friday at 2-don’t take it.

This salon is spectacular! My go-​to girl is Susanna. She ALWAYS somehow manages to perform miracles on my dry, messy, discolored hair. One time, I came in because a girl from one of those beauty academies really messed up a touch-​up job, leaving me with a helmet of neon orange roots. Susanna masterfully dyed get all of my hair to a cool chestnut brown and, additionally, worked wonders with a stylish new haircut. I always walk out of there with a smile on my face and a fabulous ‘do to match ;)

I finally found a hairdresser I love in LA :)

I’ve been out here over a year now, and had a few mediocre cuts (one was a little crooked even :/​— and it wasn’t remotely cheap), but finally a cut I love. And Sol Salon was pretty reasonably priced for the quality. Also, they’re so close to me I could walk over if I weren’t so lazy, so it’s pretty perfect.
I have some tricky thick and unruly hair. The kind of hair that can look pretty messy and awful if not layered well. This review is a little delayed cause I got the cut almost two months ago, and it has grown in pretty nicely. I think I’ll be stopping by to see Sylvia again in another month :) The picture I’m posting is from right after the cut, cause I did not delay in sharing with my Instagram and Facebook friends.
They also have pretty cool art on the walls — the info labels next to them were pretty small though, so I didn’t see the name of the artist.

I can’t say enough about this salon! Absolutely astounding!
I called late on a Friday with an emergency (I let a friend color my hair) and they got me in the very next morning!
Everyone I spoke to was so welcoming, kind, and professional!
And my stylist: yhe woman who fixed my hair was Tynesha. She was astounding! I walked in with 12 different shades of orange, leopard spotted hair and she transformed me into a mermaid! When I left my hair looked not only cohesive but vibrant and multidimensional. Tynesha is insanely skilled! She listened to all my concerns and wishes. I had no hope walking in and she made my hair look amazing! I wouldn’t have been surprised to be charged DOUBLE what I was. It would have been worth it!
Go to this salon, you will not regret it.

I booked my first appointment at Sol Salon with Vanessa back in November. My boyfriend has been going to her for years and I figured anyone who could tackle his thick curls was more than qualified to help me gracefully grow out my side-​shave. I had an initial consultation with Vanessa and she agreed a trendy long bob would be the perfect way to blend my side-​shaved hair while it grew out. A few days later I had my appointment and absolutely loved the result.
Of course I couldn’t stop there and soon was back in Vanessa’s chair requesting a long pixie cut. I’d always been curious to try one and the timing was perfect, since most of Hollywood is rocking a pixie cut variation at the moment. I’ve since returned three more times – first to get an even shorter pixie cut, next to take my brunette hair to beachy blonde and finally to platinum blonde.
I honestly wouldn’t trust anyone else to take my hair to such a drastically different point. Vanessa is always realistic with what my hair might and might not be able to handle, and she always makes sure I leave the salon looking fantastic and loving my hair (even if we’re in the salon way past closing time because going from brunette to platinum blonde takes time). I’ve never received as many compliments on my hair as I have since going to Sol Salon, and I have Vanessa to thank! She’s an incredible hair stylist and human being and I’m always excited to see her for my next appointment.
