West Of Heaven Studio

I’ve had my hair twisted and braided by Jessica at the West of Heaven studio and she did a phenomenal job. I am very particular about who I allow to do my hair, but she made me feel very comfortable. She took great care and combed through my hair gently when I told her I had a tender scalp. I made sure to schedule my follow up appointment right away when I saw how long the style lasted. Money well-​spent.

Dee Dee is great! I called and she got me in the same day. No waiting! She did an amazing job on my hair. Super nice and excellent service!

This review is long overdue. I’ve been a client at West of Heaven for a while now and each visit has been better than the last. One thing I get here that I have not gotten from any other stylist is value! I get so much more than stylish hair during my appointments. DeDe takes pride in her work, her salon and actually cares about her customers.
I first went to DeDe with hopes of growing my short hairstyle out and having a healthy head of hair. And she has done just that. She has kept my hair clean, healthy, and stylish. It grew out to a bob, she cut it just like I asked her to, and I was happy. Then a few weeks later I decided I wanted it cut short again, she cut it and styled it like I asked her to, and I am happy! I love my hair and it’s so easy to maintain!
No matter how indecisive/​annoying I am DeDe always makes sure I’m happy with my hair when I leave her shop. West of Heaven is drama free, parking is free, and laughs are free here!

I’m usually too lazy to write reviews. BUT this salon is the business. I got my hair flat ironed and trimmed almost three weeks ago and it still looks AMAZING. The stylist was patient worked with my hair, gave me tips on keeping my natural hair hydrated (I live in the dessert) she trimmed my ends enough to make them healthy but not so much I feel like she cut hair off. I can’t say enough. Love!

DeDe gets it done and she does it efficiently. She doesn’t overbook and even the white people at work complement my hair. This is a tiny salon and she focuses on you and your hair the entire appointment. I wear my hair natural and she does such an amazing job. My hair and I are happy. And shiny. And healthy.

Love love love it here. West of Heaven is a quiet and neat salon. No customers are waiting forever to get serviced. Jess has been my braider for about 9 years now and I love her work. Dee Dee always gets her clients in and out. Always a great time when I come here.

Lets just say Dee Dee rescued me & my hair…
First of all, I was new to LA and was in search of a new hair stylist because of another stylist damaging my hair with a relaxer and hair color… Dee listened attentively to my concerns and reassured me that we could get my hair back to a healthy state… & just as she said it would happen it did…
I love Dee. She is passionate about her profession and she treats her clientele with the utmost level of professionalism. Like they say you get what you pay for. If you want stylish and healthy hair without the crazy wait then West of Heaven is the place you want to be.

Absolutely awesome! No long waits. She is very attentive to your individual needs and gives you a style that is personalized just you. I’m so glad I found her. I’ve been to so many salons (even upper-​scale types). She trumps them ALL. I almost don’t want to post this.

OMG! OMG! OMG! About three weeks ago I let a gal who’d been doing my hair for years cut my hair. I brought her a picture of Megan Good, but got out the chair looking like Adina Howard — it was totally a circa 1995 cut. Needless to say, I could not go back to her in good conscience.
Anyway, I came onto Unilocal looking for a new hair stylist and stumbled on nothing but positive reviews about DeDe and her studio. So, I called her up and made an appointment for the following week. By the grace of God! DeDe was able to repair and make presentable thee worst cut in the history of hair cuts! It was a MIRACLE! Also, I’ll add that her studio is clean, private, chic and soothing. It is also located in an excellent neighborhood and is quite unassuming. Cherry on top: Her prices are fair, given the ambiance and one-​on-​one attention you get. I would recommend DeDe — HANDS DOWN — a million times over. I trust her, and, that’s saying a lot.

Dede is an amazing hair stylist! The shop is located in a cute studio in Culver City, it’s a really calm and relaxing atmosphere to get your hair done at, Dede really took her time with washing & conditioning my hair, I love the one on one attention she gives you regarding your hair, no overbooking or rushing to do your hair, I’m so glad I found her on Unilocal and I will be forsure returning again :)

I’ve been going to Dede since 2007 when I moved to LA. Her shop is very nice, and is never late with my appointments. My hair is much more healthier now, since I’ve been going to her. She has been doing short hair cuts with my hair, relaxers and flat iron styles. I highly recommend her!

I was heartbroken when my W. Hollywood salon unexpectedly closed it doors. I had been with the same beautician for over 7 years so I felt completely lost … I was looking for an upscale salon experience in an intimate setting and finding West of Heaven was a godsend.
I have very thick, Black hair but only do a mild texturizer. Most Black stylists refuse to work with me unless I commit to a full perm. On a whim I searched on Unilocal to see who I could find … So imagine my excitement when I read Kendra P’s review and found out that DeDe works with natural or relaxed hair! And when I read that DeDe will even do an old-​school press-​and-​curl I was scrambling to write down her number!
I’ve been coming to West of Heaven for two months and my hair is happy & healthy … Let DeDe go to work on your hair — you won’t be disappointed!

I had such a GREAT experience at West of Heaven Salon/​Studio! Dede is great with kids and did my daughters hair better than anyone has before and she is 14 (so she’s been getting her hair done for a while). One of the biggest reasons I was so happy with this salon is because she takes her time with EACH client. She does not overbook and have you sitting for hours. Unless you just want to have the typical women/​salon chat, which is also GREAT of course when you are in the mood :). She does a great trim as well. Very professional and nice hair salon and great area in Culver City.

I have been going to West of Heaven for the past five years, and I honestly could not live without DeDe. She is a godsend and a whiz with natural African-​American hair and relaxed hair alike — whether you want a press and curl that will last for weeks or a weave that looks like the hair grew out of your head, try this salon! Great location, free parking, no horrible wait and free refreshments while you are being styles! :)
