My family and I were visiting from out of town when our car broke down. We found cumberland hill auto (which turned out to be a mom and pop shop which I love) the owners were amazing which turns out one of the owners was the mechanic as well and worked on our car as we waited. They were so friendly and honest that if we lived locally we would bring our car there all the time for service! Amazing work and friendly owners

I was having some brake trouble with a car I brought over here from Virginia. I shopped around for pricing and most places quoted me about $ 800. I went to Cumberland Hill Auto and they charged me less than $ 300! I have zero complaints about this place. I got my car back in a couple days and everything was working perfectly. There is a couple that own the place that told me they have been in the business for over 25 years. I’m a big advocate for shopping locally and at times I am disappointed with the quality but I can honestly say that this place is an exception. I will definitely be doing business with them again in the future!

My husband and I have been going to Cumberland Hill Auto Sales and Services for years. We just gave our son the car we bought there 8 years ago. It is a 2000 Toyota Camry that is in stellar condition thanks to Karim and Eva, owners of Cumberland Hill Auto. This is a fantastic ma & pa shop that gives you the care and attention you won’t get at the big corporate chains. We need more people like them in the world — honest and family run operation.

The warranty work they do (after legal threats to honor it, that is pointing out that I would go after them under the RI lemon law) can only be classifiable as bad, almost intentionally malicious. How does one lose a nut on something that shouldn’t have even needed to be touched to do the repair. Or fail to even complete a repair, nothing says quality work like having to go to a professional repair shop to have a problem corrected. (that they refused to pay for) This was on something that was extremely easy. The even remotely complicated problems they didn’t fix, and it didn’t even look like anyone had even tried too when I had to take it elsewhere. Two of these were things that were conditional to the purchase of the vehicle so I guess they must have just «forgot» to do even though I watched these things get written down by the owner himself.
The problems with the vehicle I purchased from them was not from lack of inspection (or in other words couldn’t have been avoided from an inspection as the problems that could be found with an inspection were identified), everything that could be inspected, without tearing it apart, was.
The place almost feels like a spray and pray lot instead of a real used car dealership, you know where they get a 300 dollar paint-​job on a car that was going to be scrapped for parts, then do absolutely nothing on proper repairs, lie about repairs that supposedly had been done and sell it off as a perfect vehicle where they pray nothing goes wrong during the warranty period. At least that is what it seems on the vehicle I bought had a cheap new paint job with a cheap detail job on it.
I gave them one too many chances to make good on my problems with them, only to have my communication be ignored. When they finally got around to answering they were excessively rude. Acted and treated me like I didn’t know a single thing about cars even though all 3 of my brothers are mechanics.
They truly showed me that the piece of paper the warranty was written on was worth more than the warranty itself. That isn’t an exaggeration, I would have paid less in cash and opportunity cost to just have it done right the first time at my place of choosing.
Extremely rude people, even worse repair work, a warranty that is beyond worthless, the only place that has ever made a vehicle of mine worse after a repair (while never fully repairing the item it was in for in the first place).
A doc fee for handling your docs that they don’t even fill out (what you paid a doc fee for in the first place). Interesting that that is even legal to do, to not provide a paid for service.
My experience with them can be classified as a horror story about what used car dealers do. Dozens of used cars purchased from numerous different dealers all over New England and this dealer still was by far the worst for my family.
If you have a brain inside your skull go somewhere else, if you want the same quality vehicles they have go to the auto graveyard. You’ll get them for ¹⁄₅^th Cumberland’s price, and they might just have less problems. I’d even go so far to say they will have less problems since you know you are dealing with a vehicle that was already declared at the end of its life. Instead of having a subhuman dealer put a cheap spray job on it and lie their way to a sale.
