Frank Sinatra plays in the background of this cute breakfast and lunch place. Modern Bistro has become our go-to in large part because of the consistency of the food and the nice wait staff. Bacon is crispy. Potatoes are crispy on the outside and seasoned just right. The specials are always different from week to week. TIP: Try to go early or late. When the local churches get out on Sunday they can get packed and it might be a little loud. The wait is never too long though.

Definitely one of my new favorite breakfast/brunch spots. It was quite a wait to be seated, but it was well worth it. Not only do they have bloody Mary’s and mimosas but they also have«adult» Iced coffee, which I haven’t seen anywhere else. I got the eggs Benedict which came out perfect. The home fries were some of the best around. Will definitely be returning.

We just left the modern bistro in Cumberland after our second visit, both times having the same waitress, Amanda. My wife and I both had breakfasts off the specials menu, my wifes Sweet Potato hash with poched eggs and my Italian omelet were great! We also Indulged in the crêpe special of Marscopone cheese and berries which was wonderful. Amanda was very pleasant, sweet and lighting fast, probably one of the best breakfast waitresses we have had. Without a doubt we will return again and again.

What a great place. First time there and it was a small but neat Mediterranean/American/with Middle Eastern foods. There was a small bar and we sat in the dining area. The staff was prompt and courteous and answered all of our questions regarding the menu. My wife ordered the turkey panini and it came with a cucumber salad and home made chips. The chips were excellent and she loved the very generous portions of the sandwich. I ordered the Mediterranean combo which included four or five stuffed grape leaves, tabouli, hummus, olives and cucumbers all surrounding each other on an oval platter. The tabouli was excellent and had a great consistency. The hummus was also great and I used it for the sticking properties as I built my mini bites using the pita bread. I would get that again. If I failed to mention the stuffed grape leaves it’s because I was immediately addicted to them and they went fast. Executive Chef and all around good guy, Mike Koussa was appreciative of our visit as was the staff. Go get something from this gem in the northern part of the state.

I wanted to try a new place in northern RI and decided on Modern Bistro based on Unilocal reviews. I went for lunch and had the chicken-vegetable crepes. It was delicious… and what an interesting combination! Very filling too… unfortunately no room for dessert. Definitely want to go back some time for the breakfast items. Service was also very good — the waitress I had was friendly. Seemed like the type of place that gets a lot of regulars and the staff was very friendly with them. When I went to pay, the woman at the register(guessing the owner or manager?) asked me how my crepes were. I thought that was great how she knew exactly what different customers were getting and asked me how it was.

My favorite place for breakfast and lunch! OBSESSED with their sweet potato hash Benedict, Pumpkin soup, French Onion Soup, Near East Wrap(try it with falafel added — so good!) and Greek salad. Honestly I’ve been going since they opened almost 3 years ago and by now I’ve tried about 75−80% of the menu and haven’t had anything I didn’t like.

I ordered a grilled cheese with caramelized onions and my wife got the Belgian waffles. Both were well prepared and delicious. The serving sizes were more than adequate in relation to price. We had some issues with our espresso and cappuccino orders but that was rectified promptly. Seating can be a bit tight in the center of the room. Parking and accessibility are good.

Full disclosure: since I go out to breakfast every Sunday, I’m kind of a breakfast snob. I read about this place in the paper and I love supporting local businesses, so I figured, let’s give it a try. The place is small but pretty. They could stand to be more organized; there were several empty tables when we walked in, and we were still made to wait while a table was cleared. The menu had some interesting items. I stuck with eggs and bacon because I wanted to try the popovers(doughy in the middle, unfortunately, but the outside was delish), but also because if you can’t make good eggs and bacon… well. The food was, truthfully, just ok. My toast was room temp but the bacon and home fries were hot and tasty. And the eggs weren’t that flavorful, which tells me they weren’t super fresh/local. Having said all of that, I think we’ll be back. We spoke with the owner twice in passing and she was very friendly and when she asked how the food was and I said«good,» she gave me a look and said«no, really.» Great response. I told her about the popover(she asked!) but didn’t mention the rest. Stuff happens. But I got a good feeling from the place and would recommend it.

Solid lunch option in Cumberland. It’s cozy with a diner feel. The people who work here are friendly and the food is pretty good. I’ve never had to wait to get a table either. They serve breakfast all day but I’ve never tried it. I usually get the tuna melt, the falafel burger, or the Mediterranean platter. I’m pretty picky when it comes to tuna salad but this one has great flavors. The chips and pickles on the side are homemade which is a nice touch.

I was so impressed. Not far from my house. Easy to get to. Cute little place. Bar!!! Baked goods in the counter. Seated quickly. Decent coffee. Crayons and fun stuff for the nephew. Crispy bacon and tasty choc. chip pan cake for the boy. Incredible lemon poppy pancake for my sister. Real maple syrup. One of the better classic Benny’s for me. The best deep fried potatoes ever. Can’t wait to go back.

After a great night at Gillette stadium, my boyfriend and I started the morning by coming here. It was down the road so we decided to try it out. It’s a dainty, little restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and understanding of my indecisiveness. I had the omelette which comes with home fries and toast. The omelette(I had spinach and swiss) was perfectly cooked and the home fries were probably the best home fries I’ve ever had. My boyfriend got a wrap and they accommodated to his order despite it not being on the menu. Their homemade chips are delicious! They also serve homemade pickles which my boyfriend said were good. Overall the food was perfectly cooked and very tasty and service was lovely. Would definitely come again!

It was very delicious. The menu is limited but otherwise it was a good breakfast. The setting is very cute and comfortable. And the prices are very reasonable. The music was kind of loud but manageable. I would go back when looking for a simple breakfast place.

Wow, heard about this place from a friend and recently visited twice and both times were wonderful. On the outside, it doesn’t look particularly notable but is comfy and cute on the inside-very unassuming. Service was fantastic and food? Food was absolutely amazing. Very surprised to see such an unique and delicious menu in Cumberland. This chef is talented beyond measure! Had the California Chicken Panini the first time and just had the BLT which was no ordinary BLT– the best I’ve ever had; complete with some sort of sauce that I didn’t recognize but love. Definitely coming back here often. Hidden gem in the local area!

Delish! Excellent service, hot fresh delicious food, and a cute and relaxing ambiance. Love the light music on while having lunch. I ordered the Burger 4077; excellent choice! Thick cut bacon, and yummy melted cheese.(Of course ranch on the side) Fries were crisp and fresh! Great food at a very reasonable price and there’s even a bar!
