We have had power through them ever since we moved to Atlanta. Compared to my friends who are on GA Power, we have had close to none(2 short ones in 11 years) outages, and they were fixed within shortest notice. When really bad weather is on the forecast, we see their trucks out there in waiting position close to the station where problems occur. Currently I see an extremely professional, quick, solution oriented approach by many of their crew members to solve a major power line problem on my property. They come out as needed, and their supervisor for a daytime fix even checks late at night.

Sawnee EMC has the worst customer service I have experienced. Moved into a new house and never received a paper bill or an email bill. Called in to ask where my bill was and they said they were sent it. I was late paying my bills since I didn’t get one and they charged me a late fee of $ 15. I asked I am happy to pay but since I didn’t receive a bill, can they remove the late fees. I spent 30+ mins on the phone with Patricia and she would have to talk to her supervisor and call me back. She calls me back to tell me that she and her boss reviewed my account and that they could not give me a credit since my email was correct and so was my mailing address. Well something is definitely wrong since I didn’t receive a bill in either places. I spent over 1 hour on the phone with this company and they believe that spending that kind of time on the phone with me is worth saving $ 15…If I had a choice I would not use Sawnee EMC!!! Apparently this is how they believe a customer should be handled, what a joke!

I deal with these people a lot because I own rental property. They are pretty responsive — I only need them to turn power on and off, but they do that when they say they are going to do it. If I make them aware of trees or limbs endangering their lines, they are pretty quick to get out there and take care of that. I have a number of streetlights in their coverage area and when I let them know that a light is out, they are quick to fix it.

They’re faster to send the bill than to send help. Streetlights have been out around the neighborhood for WEEKS and they haven’t sent anyone to fix them. My friend(who is black) called to set up service with them and they said after checking his credit history he had to put a security deposit down for electricity. What? My boyfriend(who is white) has the same credit history didn’t have any trouble. Then later they sent the bill within the week which dated back to a month and a half before they even moved in and they sent two, one to my boyfriend and one to my boyfriend’s roommate. The roommate had a form to fill out and extra money to pay because they wanted their security deposit. The entire apartment complex isn’t too delighted to have Sawnee EMC as our service, but we just happen to be in the area so we have to deal with it.
