*This restaurant was renamed as Peacock Indian Cuisine. This place was very average. In the lunch buffet, everything was really oily, and I had to pat down the papad on my napkin to remove the excess oil. The food choice for vegetarians(like me) was rather limited and some of the food was very spicy, although I am intolerable to spicy food so this isn’t a big deal for spicy food lovers. Another member of my family ordered a plate of idlis, and when it was brought to her, she pointed out that the idli was hard on the outside and dense in the inside. It was obvious that this meal was microwaved even though the waiter took ten minutes after ordering to bring the idli. The only plus side was the yogurt if you go past the part that there was a coat of oil on the surface(yuck!) The mutter mushroom curry to my astonishment was actually decent enough to get a second helping.

I saw this place earlier in the week and had it on my «to eat at» list. I saw they had a $ 5 for $ 10 Google Offer, so I bought myself one and two for gifts for my brothers. We arrived and he looked a little like he wasn’t going to accept the three coupons at the same time, but he was nice an allowed it. The food was incredible. They had a nice variety. Actually larger than some of the other Indian lunch buffets around. Plenty meat dishes and even a beef dish(maybe it was lamb) but it sure tasted like beef., I could be wrong. It was almost like Mongolian Beef but even mixed with Sweet & Sour sauce… it was better than I’m making it sound. There were several chicken dishes and plenty of vegetarian dishes. All of them good. The naan was delicious. THe chutneys were great too. This place is also a bakery and they have several small cakes as desserts. They were nice and light. I enjoyed them. I will definitely be back here if I want to fill up on really good Indian food for cheap, and not feel disgusted afterward.

There’s something about the Bay Area where Indian cuisine has a common theme of being a bakery and sit-down restaurant — all in one establishment. Come here if you don’t have much time for lunch but need a place for a quick bite. The buffet doesn’t have a large selection but it’s pretty okay for lunch. They do keep the food warm and replenish often. Indian tea is also included in the buffet price. The dosa(you have to order) is pretty spicy but really good. KPI(Key Performance Indicators) ratings(1 – 5, 5 — best): Quality: 3 Delivery/Service: 3 Cost: 4

We had chole bhature, bhel without chutney and papdi chaat. All deserve one star. The bhatura was ok but stinks if refried oil. I will avoid in future. Pastries looked scary.

Used a Google Offer at this place. The food was decent, nothing great to write about, don’t see myself coming back here. Liked: Dahi Wada Super duper awesome Mango Kesari(shira or halwa), was part of the thali but liked it so much ordered another one. they should have that on the menu! Dislike: Biryani was lacking in flavor. Ordered Mysore Masala dosa too. though the dosa was good, sambar was really watery and so could not enjoy the dosa. I saw another couple return a dish because it was really bad, not sure what they had ordered. I don’t see myself coming back here when there are several awesome options for Indian food in Bay area.

We came in here after getting a coupon, on a Sunday afternoon we came in for lunch. The interior is pretty large and while it had nice paintings on the wall, it felt kind of cheap and uninviting. The décor was clean though but this place isn’t here for the décor. We found that our coupon didn’t work for the buffet so we ordered a few items. Our first waiter was a younger man who seemed really put out by us and was fairly rude throughout unfortunately. Later, another man helped us who seemed friendlier but overall the service wasn’t great. I even checked into my phone for facebook for the free mango lassi and he split it into two cups for us. .. which it was the cheap bottle stuff, so I felt he probably just should have given one or filled us both up. Anyways. Our lollipops were just ok, the sauce was a little heavy for my taste. We also got a dosa which was interesting but a little lacking in flavor. Then we ordered two different types of breads which were interesting. Overall we just weren’t impressed by the spices and our butter chicken was much too sweet later. I can’t see us coming back.

Awful. We went there one evening for dinner. The dosas were a-ok. Soggy and super soft. I like mine crisp . The sambhar seemed too bland . The service was awful. The waiter banged the plates on our table. Kind of shocking . Will never go here again.

The portions are generous, I went with my sisters and we ordered the samosas which I really enjoy and this rice and lamb dish, lamb biryani,(but it had a LOT of bone) — it was flavorful without being too salty. The naan came burnt on the bottom, burnt enough to be pretty annoying. We were full(this was lunch) when we finished together 4 samosas(2 a serving But the service was pretty bad. We came in and the guy took a while to come over and seat us even though he saw us right when we came in and the place was maybe ¼ full. Then we didn’t get menus and had to request them. And they didn’t give us silverware until 10 minutes they gave us the first course.

After having a good experience the first two times I’ve been to this restaurant, me and my family decided to go for dinner on a Saturday night. This time was possibly one of the worst experiences I have had a restaurant. 10 minutes after ordering, my brother still had not received his Sprite which is pathetic since there was only one other table of 4 in the entire restaurant. After reminding the waitress, he received his can of sprite. He poured it into his glass to find that it was frozen and slushy. I waited about 15 minutes after my mom and brother had received their dinners to ask where my veg meal order was. The cashier checked the order receipt and yelled at his chef through the window and asked why my order had not been prepared. I received my veg meal after my brother and mom had finished their meals. Again, I’d like to point out that the restaurant was not busy at all and there should have been no reason for the mistake. I was very unimpressed by the food. Nothing on the plate was wrote paying. By far the worst Indian food I have had up to date. Not only that, but while people were still in the restaurant, the waiters began putting up all the chairs on the table and handed out the check while people were still eating. The customer service was one of the worst I have seen and the food was not any better. For a place that I used to like, I do not think I will be going back here again.

Decent place for Indian food. I think I’m willing to give most of the dishes here a try since you can get a pretty good deal using the discounts on .(pay $ 1.50 for a $ 20 certificate towards dinner) Food was straight forward — except their rice was plain basmati rice — they don’t add any herbs or anything to it. So I’d order a Naan! Bakery on the other hand seems pretty legit. There were people walking in and ordering cakes and what not.

Portions are GENEROUS here, especially if you order the dosas. I personally wasn’t up for a dosa on my first trip here, so I ordered a tomato and pea utthappam(which is pretty much like a giant pancake). It was best when warm/hot, and it tastes really good both with and without the curry sauce it came with. My friends enjoyed their dosas as well. We didn’t try the bakery items, but they looked pretty tasty. Parking could get tricky because the plaza lot is smaller, but nothing too crazy.

Food here is pretty standard. Chicken Tikka Masala is more buttery than«authentic,» but it’s what most American Indian restaurants serve, so it’s delicious! The naan here is also good/standard. I always order Palak Paneer and Aloo Gobi with my CTM. When you order rice from them, be sure to specify what kind of rice you want, because otherwise they will give you plain basmati rice(and I mean _plain_, i.e. rice only). I like to order out here because the service isn’t exactly prompt and they’ll often forget about you and leave to go into the kitchen for 10 minutes at a time which doesn’t even give you a chance to jump and wave your arms. The food takes a while to come out too. Be careful though, if you order to go, I recommend calling in. It usually takes them 10 – 15 minutes for them to get your to go order ready, so you’ll find yourself waiting for a long while.

Nice cool place. I went for lunch buffet on a Saturday. Food tasted pretty good. The best thing I liked was the chicken pieces — both chicken korma or chicken biryani — both had tender soft chicken. I loved it. It also has different kinds of snacks. I tried the Samosa and Chicken puff. I liked it very much.

In the midst of planning an event for friends, my work associate recommended this place, saying that they had great desserts. So I decided one night to visit the establishment to take a look at what they had and purchase a few items to try for myself. I asked the young gentleman at the counter if they had a take home menu, which he replied no, but had one online. I said okay, and proceeded to look at the desserts displayed in the window. He then handed me a in-store menu and said, «Did you know that this is an Indian Restaurant?» To which I replied, «Yes.» He then walked away. I put the menu down and walked out. I thought to myself, «No sh*t Sherlock ! I was completely unaware of my surroundings and thought this was a French restaurant!» Uhmm, I know I don’t look Indian, in fact I’m black(however not your typical ass shaking rap video dancing vixen as you might assume). My parents are from Tanzania, speak three languages(Swahili, Chagga, and English-perhaps your parents speak more than two languages as well?) and that makes me first generation in this great country called The United States of America. I do believe this great country has also given you and your parents opportunities for a better life, that’s why we’re here buddy, right? I grant you no stars for uninvited sarcasm, and one star for irony, because your practically the same color as me!

I finally got my masala dosa($ 5.99) !!! I’ve been craving indian food literally all week but I had no one to go with and it’s never open when I am in the mood to eat Indian food -.- Actually I’d give the place 3.5 but I like the food. I also got the Mango Lassi($ 2.50)(my gf recommended me to get it, and it’s quite good.) It’s a yogurty kind of milkshake. Okay so… some points: They were so indifferent to me, and I don’t know if it’s because I was the only person in the place that was NOT Indian. But they were especially nice to the others who WERE Indian. Geez. And they gave me attitude when I asked if they accepted hundred dollar bills. And everyone was giving me looks because I am not brown? I looked like something foreign to them or what. Well the masala dosa is filling, I ate half of it and I’m so full. I look like a fat baby hipster. Great. Oh, they didn’t provide me with a fork and knife either and I was planning to go straight to the coffeeshop to study too. So you know what I did? I went to the grocery store JUST to buy a fork and a knife!!! WOW. I was thinking of stealing utensils from a fast food place but I thought they’d kick me out for not giving them business. And opening the knife package was a bitch(and thus cut my finger open.) GREATT. And I ate in my car … because I figured you can’t bring food into the coffeeshop either. And I spilled some of that Indian sauces in my car too and on myself. Now … I apologize for all those curry and soap jokes I always make to my Indian friends, because I smelled like curry after the spill, and then smelled like soap after trying to wash myself off. Oops. Um… I would come here again?

Authentic Indian food. I work near by so I always drop in for their lunch buffet. The buffet is inexpensive and the food quality is much better than most of the restaurants in bay area. The only problem is they do not switch on the AC even when it is burning hot outside, they just keep the main door open. Maybe I should not expect anything other than good food for $ 8 ;-). I have stopped going here these days as I am not able to keep my eyes open at work after having lunch. Will start going back once my workload reduces, so that I can sneak under my desk for a quick nap after lunch.

Who knew we had an authentic little Indian gem of a place in our corporate backyard here in Cupertino? Not me that’s for sure. That’s where Unilocal comes in. I’ve driven by this place countless times with only a passing glance. Wondered each time if this place would last longer than it’s precedessors. Enter Unilocal with a ‘bakery’ search. Really. This place is a bakery? Well though this IS I guess technically a bakery, you won’t find buttery chocolate croissants here. You WILL find lots of other yummy goodies like fresh bread, cookies, individual layered cakes and specialty desserts(cappucino mousse in a little chocolate cup anyone??), sheet cakes(with a bend towards the childrens fun varieties) and BONUS… lunch items too. They have a huge menu of different Indian lunch items, including chicken, something called mutton(never a good visual with that one). About 10 different types of dosa’s. A litany of milkshake options. The ever beautiful Mango Lassi. Their online menu says Pizza but we didn’t see that while in there. Then they also have a bunch of ‘quickie’ to-go options like veggie samosas, chicken puffs, mutton puffs. Huge perk is that this place is CHEAP. A small slice of mango layered cake was $ 1.99. My massive chicken and potato dosa with 3 types of sauces was $ 5.99. They had a ‘kids’ meal on the menu which was a cheese dosa, fries, milkshake AND pastry for $ 5.99. Pretty fast service, guy behind the counter was helpful in explaining all the various items to us even though we kept asking… and asking… and asking the questions. The dosa we had was SPICY. As in heartburn spicy… yowie! But tasty. The mango cake was definitely good, light and airy cake with buttercream layered inside. You almost need the cool sweetness of a dessert on your tongue to help it stop the painful burning of the lunch. But I am an admitted serious spice wuss. Next time I’ll just ask for it slightly less spicy. Really liked that the desserts are small. Helps offset the massiveness of the lunch dosa that I am still slowly digesting. Now where’s my chewable Rolaids.

Since I have lived in Cupertino over the last 4 years, this location has changed ownership and type of business at least 3 times. Well, I think we have a winner! *Think of it as the Sheng Kee of Indian Bakeries plus some added hot food treats. So, I only bought some vegetarian samosas(curried potato and peas fried in a triangular pastry) along with a Chicken Puff. Let’s just say, I have found the Yin to my Yang. That Chicken Puff was like a croissant type pastry filled with curried chicken and probably some potato. I may have only tried it from about two other places, but it is the best I have had so far in my Indian food travels. I brought it home and my bf, tried it, then asked why I didn’t get him one. Nuff said. I will add a star when I try more stuff… BTW, it is clean, and the staff are nice. They also serve ice cream(vegetarian, no eggs).
