Not bad. It’s a little pricey than what you would get at a real Indian restaurant and the menu is limited hence why 4 stars. I had the Frankie with lamb but without the egg. This was really de-lish! It comes with mint chutney but also ask for the tamarind too. I like both. So it’s got the lamb with onions, cucumber, tomatoes and cilantro wrapped in this roti-like tortilla. Like I said… de-lish! The place is inside the Whole Foods in Cupertino… which explains the $. Try this place out. Don’t be shocked if you don’t see an Indian person preparing the food… it’s all good.

As mentioned in previous reviews, this is another one of Whole Food’s hot-food counters located inside the store. For what it is, it’s a solid 3 stars. Prices are high– like $ 5.99 for a mango lassi, but it’s a solid lunch spot or good for quick dinner takeout. Basically anytime you’re craving Indian & don’t have time for a sit down restaurant. While it’s not authentic, it’s not bad! It hits the spot and keeps me coming back. I haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, but I haven’t disliked anything I’ve had thus far. It also has a decent selection. I saw in a previous review someone said they don’t have basmati rice– they do. It’s usually in the warm case near the counter. Or you can just ask. A quick tip to help ease prices: you can ask for any of the dosa fillings as a side, along with a dosa(wrap). I often stop by for just a side of butter chicken & a dosa wrap and build my own for under $ 5. This works well when I don’t have someone to share with, and don’t want a huge meal.

Although the dosas were made in front of us, they were still cold. The sambar was ok. nothing great and lacked spice!

Most unauthentic Indian food around. You see non-Indians making Indian food, at whole foods, and up charging for simple stuff like papad. Seriously?!

I was excited to find the Dosateria in the area. It’s too hard to go drive all the way up to Berkeley to eat at VIk’s. It may not be the most authentic dosa, or Indian food for that matter, but the dosa here was nicely crisped and the potato filling was plentiful and delicious. My only suggestion would be to make the outer shell a tad thicker so it doesn’t flake off and crumble as you’re breaking off the pieces. I also tried the vegetable Frankie and that was very tasty as well. It had a good amount of fresh vegetable filling. The mango lassi was super smooth and creamy; it was one of the best ones I’ve had.

It’s located inside the Wholefoods Cupertino. Sometimes I don’t have too much time to drive got lunch, so I simply go to Wholefoods getting some food. This place is so good! Price is around $ 8 — $ 11 without tax; service is good; place is clean; and yes, food is delicious! Actually, it is yummier than I expect. You won’t feel regret to have a quick lunch here.

Stopped here to get a quick bite before we head upto monte bello open space preserve for a afternoon hike. While the whole foods is nice and airy, the dosas and Frankie’s were ok. Nothing great but it was good for being inside whole foods.

Surprisingly good. I had a South Indian samosa(nicely fried and very flavorful), a butter chicken dosa(high quality chicken meat, fresh herbs, jalapeño for nice medium-heat, though not the most delicious butter chicken sauce), and a fresh squeezed cane juice(very sweet but it went so well to cool the spice/heat). The dosa came with a small cup of soup that was delicious and chock full of veggies. The dosa itself was big enough that I gave half away and still felt like I ate a bit more than I needed for lunch.

Tried the Frankie with butter chicken. Nothing special but not bad either I guess. I’m really only lowering the rating because it cost $ 9.50 for something the size of a regular burrito(was super disappointed because all the other photos made it look huge). Apparently it also comes with a chutney of choice but I wasn’t informed this so they just gave me the mint cilantro one(I ordered to-go and didn’t realize till I got home) and I’m definitely not a fan of cilantro so that was a bummer since some of the chutneys sounded good! The butter chicken portion is not bad, actually more spicy than I was expecting. Of note, they did wrap it really well(one layer of normal foil, and a second layer of insulated foil). I had sample of their dosa and I’ve never had one before so I don’t know how«true to taste» theirs was but it wasn’t bad, I just wasn’t in to the crispy/crunchy outer shell.

Paneer tikka bowl– Had too much lettuce. Barely any rice. Taste was okay. Lamb Dosa-Dosa was amazing and super authentic. Lamb stuffing was very tasty. Lamb was perfectly cooked and medium spicy. Would recommend it. Planner tikka frankie — It was pretty big and filling in size and tasty and would recommend it.

The food is a four, the service(through Door Dash) a three. The dosa is huge and delicious. The lamb is flavorful and tender. I made the mistake of requesting jalepenos. I love spicy but here’s the thing. The lamb is spicy. The cup of soup is spicy. Most of the sauces are spicy. So I(and my entire team) were completely overwhelmed. As for the service. I ordered through Door Dash and the first issue was they wouldn’t put the boxes in a bag for the delivery service without him buying a whole foods paper bag. Seriously? He had to drop them off to me as 6 individual boxes. Second, I should have had 7 boxes. I had to call Doseteria and let them know they forgot an order, drive down there, and bring it back to the office before my next meeting. Third, they didn’t label any of the boxes with names even though Door Dash has each person enter their names so I had to guess which box went with which person. I will have Dosateria again on my own, just not through a delivery service as they clearly aren’t set up for that.

Good dosa joint inside the Cupertino Whole Foods complex. Wide variety of dosa choices. Plain dosa was great. Lamb dosa was good too — lamb pieces were reasonably tender and flavorful, but too big(would prefer smaller chunks). Slightly expensive, compared to many South Indian eateries. But definitely worth trying out.

The gluten free wrap or Frankie is excellent. The quantity of meat is optimum And the sauces are good. However the rice bowl has too much of onion and lettuce. They have got their proportions all wrong in a bowl. Lamb is usually well cooked but it wasn’t today. 8 sept 2015. Try the wrap and ditch the bowl.

Eh. Feeling pretty unhappy with my first dosa experience. I got the butter chicken dosa to-go and judging by the other pictures(and the way one end of my dosa was clearly cut so that it would fit into the to-go box) I was not given my full portion. Looked like half. There wasn’t much filling in my wrap and what was there was SPICY.(I’m like a medium to mild spiciness level kinda gal for reference) The cup of hot soup and red sauce that came along with it didn’t exactly help this spice situation. The dosa was sort of chewy and slightly sour too… Maybe dosas aren’t for me? I like Indian food usually, but it was just too pricy, spicy, and chicken-lacking.

I had the Masala Potato Dosa with truffle oil add on and the Northern Indian Samosa. The filling in both were just spicy enough especially with the dipping soup. My dosa was perfectly light golden brown and had an ever so slightly crispy texture. The vegetable dipping soup that comes with the dosa was flavorful, spicy and one of my favorite additions to the meal. The chutneys were delicious as well. I also tried the sugar cane juice. The juice was super sweet and goes well with the spicy flavors. I will go again and do suggest that folks give them a try. The ingredients stand up to the Whole Foods standards because this little spot of heaven is inside the beautiful Stevens Creek WF location.

Dosateria isn’t a standalone restaurant but is instead a vendor within the mammoth Cupertino Whole Foods. We were trying to find some Indian food and this was the only place that came up nearby(looks like Bombay Oven closed) and had decent reviews to boot. What a disappointment. Cardinal Rule #1 of Unilocal: ratings of places with few ratings are unreliable. While they may be great or they may be horrible, it’s a crapshoot unless a Unilocal reviewer you trust has been there. With glowing reviews and a 4.5 star average, my restaurant researcher failed to share there were only 13 reviews. Give me at least 100. Even better 300 or 400. Dosateria is a nice and friendly vendor within Whole Foods as all their employees are, but the food wasn’t what we were expecting. They seem to specialize in samosas and quick to-go bites but also offer full size entrees. Our order: Butter Chicken — I wasn’t expected it to match any restaurant we like but what a complete miss. It was full of shredded green and red peppers and was quite spicy. Since when is butter chicken spicy? They also had too large pieces of chicken and the sauce was entirely too thick and more like a traditional curry than butter sauce. Total miss. While they may have given us the wrong order, we confirmed items on pickup. Lamb Massala — this was better and contained chunks of lamb. Problem was the sauce was also too thick and diluted with milk was too spicy. I’m no spicy wuss and quite surprised they don’t ask customers for spiciness level. We know Whole Food’s main demographic: if be surprised if they can handle this heat. Final nail, they don’t offer basmati rice. Yup, no Indian rice at all. They said I could go to the prepared rice section and get some white rice there. So much for authenticity, especially with sauce based entrees. With such much great Indian food in the South Bay, I’ve definitely had better. The dosas and samosas are probably more their strength but I say they then shouldn’t serve their mediocre entrees. I’ll pass. Dosateria accepts credit cards including Amex.

Dosateria is a new food stand in the middle of Cupertino Whole Foods. I was curious but skeptical about this set up. It’s strange to eat food in the middle of a Whole Foods, but the food is actually good. I got the Frankie and it’s really good. The butter chicken had excellent flavor and a good amount of spice, but not too much. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The different chutneys were really good. I was impressed. The salad and soup was also really good. This is kind of like an Indian Chipotle concept. It’s a bit pricier than Chipotle. It’s about $ 10 a person, which is quite a bit, but it’s a lot of food and it is fresh. I recommend this place for a quick bite. I will return and try something else.

Tucked inside whole foods is this gem of a place that’s been recently opened. «Dosateria» comes from the house of «Dosa”(in SF) and is one of its kind. It lives up to its title, Dosa being deliciously made and served with sambar and chutney. The chutney, although, is not even close to the traditional Indian chutney served in restaurants. I had a dosa with the option of masala potato curry with it and my friend had a Frankie with tofu filling. They were both okay. I particularly liked the salad that was given as a side with the Frankie and of course, the mint ginger lemonade — super tasty ! Do check this place out.

This dosa place is located inside Cupertino Whole Foods. It’s where the sushi bar used to be, but they moved that into the area along with the sandwich deli and pizza and Mexican food. The dosa is, according to the signage, like a thin Indian crêpe with filling inside. They also sell what they call Frankie’s, which they describe as roti wraps — so I guess like an Indian burrito. I ordered a potato masala dosa. There was only one lady ahead of us in line, but it took a long time to get our orders. Like nearly thirty minutes. And we think it’s because they were training an employee on how to make the dosas. Because the guy kept messing up and some of his dosa came out all cracked, exposing the filling inside. We came on a Wednesday and it was kind of a slow night, but our food took a long time. You can watch them make the dosa on the side. When I finally got my tray of food, my dosa came on a piece of brown parchment paper, with chutney and a bowl of sambar, which was like a veggie soup with lentils in it. When I got my food, there was this really nice Indian lady also waiting for her food. She told me that the food here was pretty good and that she comes here a couple of times. I asked her about the chutney and the sambar because the guy who have me my food didn’t explain and she told me all about it! She was a total expert! Later I was asking my friend the best way to eat the dosa — and then the guy working said that using a knife and fork would be best and not to eat it like a burrito. Probably because the crêpe is so delicate and the ends aren’t closed so the filling will fall out. The potato masala was really really yummy! I would totally get it again. I didn’t really like the chutney which I dipped my dosa in. But the dosa itself was delicious! My friend actually ordered the chicken dosa, it when she cut into it, she saw that it wasn’t cooked all the way. Ew. So she took it back and got a potato masala instead. Potato masala yummy! But it took so long! I’m hoping it was just an off night because of the training session.
