Tips: Small could act as a personal pizza portion-wise. For a family of 4 we got 2 smalls and 1 medium and were content. This is a very thin crust pizza. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - 1 Mad Dog(medium) 2 customized smalls Food: Overall, this place is a good place to get a super thin crust pizza with the ability to add your own toppings. The BBQ sauce is a smokey BBQ sauce and the toppings were pretty good. Décor: The décor is awesome. There’s lots of space and seating and the décor is rustic with the wooden tables and walls. Service: The pizzas do take a good amount of time to make since they are made to order. Just keep that in mind when you come in to these types of places.

Came by for a quick and light dinner the other day and was quite impressed as these make-your-own pizza parlors seem to be popping up like rabbits, like the froyo craze from 5 – 7 years ago! Staff was energetic, upbeat, and friendly to accommodate my custom pizza order. …my pizza maker was also talented! ;) Despite the oven master breaking my pizza, the pizza maker made another on the house and even offered the broken one as a courtesy? The pizza came out hot from the oven and was quite tasty. Most of the pizza was cooked and the extra layer of cheese made the pizza unique. Seating area is casual and comfortable, typical of these new fast casual restaurants! Under $ 6 for a quick and light dinner!

After an awesome intro to MOD Pizza a couple of weeks ago, I have been dying to go back. Luckily, our hotel was walking distance from this location and we went back 3 times during our stay. For less than $ 10, you get an 11 inch pizza with as many toppings as you want. We would usually come in pretty late so there wasn’t much of a wait to make our pizzas. On our first trip, we did a combination pizza with a great mixture of veggies and meaty toppings. In less than 10 minutes, our pizza was baked to perfection. The BF and I both loved the thin crust that was crispy and had a nice little char to it. The next time we came by, we did a meat lovers with extra cheese. Once again, wait was very minimal and we were eating our protein packed pie in no time. Lastly, we did a veggie pizza with white sauce and almost ever veggie they had available. We also got it topped with arugula and balsamic glaze. This was seriously my fave one. I got to eat my veggies and still had pizza. Service was also great! Since it was the BF’s first time, the staff explained it all to him and waited patiently as we debated about the toppings to our shared pizzas. Staff were very friendly and super nice. Only suggestion would be to have paper plates for to go orders. Since they have a lot of hotels close by, I’m sure they will get a lot of folks getting to go orders to eat in their rooms.

Great pizza! First, pick a size(s, m, l). Then, pick a dough(normal or gluten free — FYI gluten free costs more). Then, pick a sauce(e.g. red, white, or olive oil). And then the toppings. :). Easy and yummy. If you go during peak lunch/dinner hours, be prepared to fight for a parking spot. The parking lot is shared with 99 Ranch and a bunch of other stores/restaurants.

Good amount of space, nice asthetics, super friendly staff, great customer service and good tasty food! I go here regularly, only thing that could use some work is the website as when ordering using it, not all menu options are listed, and low character count to add a custom note.

This pizza is ridiculously good. If you have a bad pizza, you can only blame yourself for making it that way. Peter and the staff are always kind and friendly. I’m here at least 3x/wk and this place is consistently far above average. Thank you to the staff!

Super nice location right off the 280. Friendly staff and super clean. A welcome blessing in an area that desperately needs more food choices. It’s a make your own pizza and salad with super fresh ingredients. Reasonably priced and yummy.

My family visited MOD up north in Redding and loveedd it. For a great price, we get a filling, tasty pizza, no gross grease! So when I drove past this«coming soon» location, I was stokedddd. So we all went for dinner and had another great experience. My mom was super emb and literally asked for all the vegetables and seasonings. like cmon mom. But they didn’t judge and made it work. Also one of the guys generously noticed we were vegetarian and changed out his gloves! My pizza was tasty and the perfect amount of food for me. Will definitely come again. PS they have dairy free cheese! :D

MOD Pizza is a pizza chain with the same concept as Pieology and Blaze a.k.a Chipotle style pizza(build your own pizzas). How it works: 1. pick your size: mini 6″($ 5 – 6), mod 11″($ 8 – 9), mega double 11″ crusts($ 11 – 12) 2. pick your sauce: red, white, pesto, bbq, etc 3. pick your cheese and toppings 4. you can also top off your pizza with additional sauce: bbq, buffalo, pesto, ranch, etc I’ve been here twice since they opened. On my first visit, I ordered online and picked up my pizza. It was already ready before I got there. They placed the box on top of the oven to keep it warm. On my second visit, it was a Saturday around 1 pm during my lunch break and there was no line and my pizza was ready within 10 mins. I haven’t ran into a crowd at this location. I would rate MOD pizza better than Pieology and Blaze because of their crust. I like that it’s super thin and crispy. I don’t like pizza crusts that are more on the doughy side. If you like more bread and thickness to your pizza crust, you’ll probably like Pieology more. The downside of a thin crust is that when you load tons of toppings on it, the center of your pizza can get soggy and it doesn’t hold it’s shape very well. They also sell beer here! A plus! The staff has always been very friendly and speedy. MOD pizza is inside Cupertino village and has ample parking. They’re also building a parking garage so parking will be even easier. Peak times for the plaza are around lunch time. It’s definitely one of my top lunch places around the area.

Super torn on this place-the service has always been great the three times I’ve been to this specific location(Got one of those gift cards where if you buy the gift card you get an additional free pizza during holidays). However, I’m 3⁄3 for getting food poisoning, ranging from mild digestive/sphincter issues to full blown, missed days of work because of throwing up. Found a rock in my mushroom my last time here. Hopefully I’m the only one who’s experienced this issue.

I like the concept of customizing your own pizza and frankly the pizza is pretty tasty once you finally get to eat it. Here is a quick overview and suggestions on ways to improve: Pros: 1. You pick your own toppings. 2. An amazing amount of topping choices 3. One price for unlimited toppings(…more does not always make a better tasting pizza) 4. Pretty tasty pizza 5. Spacious new environment Cons: Refer to 1 – 2 in my Pros list. Just not worth the wait. I got here around 2pm after the lunch rush and I was in front of me was only two other people. Only two, I thought… no prob. However, I literally waiting in line for what seems like an eternal 15 mins listening in utter frustration to the people in front of me asking endless questions and couldn’t decide on their topping. Adding to my frustration was there was only ONE person building the pizza while two other staff was just lingering around waiting and not proactive in helping attend to the queue in line. Let me add that the young man making the pizza was very nice and patient, but his pace was sooooo slow and he wasn’t yet familiar with the process. The idea of customizing your own food isn’t new. Ex. Subway, Mixt Greens, Tender Greens, etc… but when you look at how these places operate, it’s like a well oiled assembly line and super efficient, even when there is a crowd. I know this location is relatively new, but management need to do a lot more training to make the customer experience more pleasant(i.e. minimize the wait times). I would try this place again, but if I find myself in line and clock watching, the chances are that I would walk out rather than subject myself to dining self-flagellation. If you only have a limited time for lunch, this place may leave you with little time to consume your food.

Just like a Chipotle for pizza, the line gets pretty long during meal times. The only difference is that everyone is ordering the equivalent of a quesarito and your order takes a little longer for it to be ready. Fortunately is is to be expected when pizza takes longer to cook in the oven compared to wrapping a burrito, so this wasn’t a big issue. My wife and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We just barely beat the rush, as there was no line when we got in(around 7:30PM) but the line almost went out the door by the time we finished ordering. The staff was helpful in explaining to me the difference between the regular and double crusted size(just an extra layer of crust/sauce/cheese underneath) and the sauce/topping choices were plentiful and looked fresh. My wife tried out the gluten free crust. We waited about 10 minutes before they called us up to grab the order. The gluten free crust came out burnt on the edges, but okay in the middle. The dough was definitely denser and chewier than the regular pizza crust, but still tasted fresh. The regular pizza also tasted pretty fresh, and the dough had a good bite while not being too chewy. The flavors of the toppings were good, though the overall taste of the pizza will obviously depend on what toppings you decide to put on it. My pizza of pepperoni, spicy sausage, and peppers definitely had a nice kick to it and did not disappoint. Portion/price-wise, I barely finished the medium, and I’m normally a pretty big eater. I’d recommend the small for lunch and for smaller eaters. The food is pretty well priced considering that the medium is ~9 after tax and will definitely fill you up. Overall, pretty decent and would come again. Long lines will suck though. But can’t blame them for it, it comes with the time needed to bake a pizza.

After eating Blaze pizza in Pasadena and San Diego for a few years, I was super-excited to see a similar option open up down the street from me. Unfortunately, MOD pizza is just«ok» as far as these Chipotle-style pizza places go. However, it’s the only one around, and for that I go back occasionally. Before getting too deep into this review, I for the life of me cannot figure out why all of these style of pizza places(Blaze included) have such a desire to develop a counter-culture identity. I get that they’re trying to stress the uniqueness of the pizza options, allowing me to be as free in my desires for pizza as I am an individual, but I find it a bit much. I wish they would focus their energy more on making a great pizza. With this being a build-your-own pizza place you can’t really review the pizza combinations, but more the ingredients. The crust here is thin and lackluster, not particularly crispy or chewy. It would be better in my opinion if it were a bit crispier and less dense. The pesto sauce is my favorite of the available sauces; they have red, white and barbecue as other options. They definitely skimp a bit on the cheese and I occasionally ask them to go back and add some more for me since it barely covers the sauce. They have a very nice variety of other toppings and all toppings seem to be of a pretty good quality. When you get their bread sticks, they just give you a pizza crust that has been perforated and covered with garlic/whatever option you choose. These are pretty disappointing, as they don’t rise at all and highlight just how lackluster the crust is to begin with. The pizza cook time is also significantly longer than Blaze and I’m not quite sure why that is. The staff here is very friendly and seem to enjoy the work that they do. They will get as excited as you are about your pizza, and are a definite plus to the restaurant. All in all, if you’re in the area and don’t want Chinese food you don’t really have a choice but to come here. You won’t be disappointed if you do, but it’s not as good as it could be.

I’d choose MOD over Pieology any day! They have a wide variety of toppings and the one thing that I absolutely love is that they have three different sizes for the pizzas and salads. I always get the small, but when I know I’ll want more later I get the medium. Can’t go wrong with microwaving leftover pizza! Another thing that I love is their crust. As opposed to other places, it’s thinner but stays much crispier and doesn’t get soggy which is a big no no for me You need to try their lemonades! I personally like to mix the blackberry lemonade with half black tea. So refreshing and good. Customer service was excellent!

I was somewhat excited to sample MOD’s custom pizza offerings after the recent closure of Bay Area Pizza Studio locations. Unfortunately, it did not live up to Pizza Studio quality. Service was somewhat friendly by the staff members on a Monday evening. They offer three different sizes of custom pizzas, which is definitely a positive. However, the regular size is too big(like most of the pizza places) for one sitting, so we went with mini sizes. The pizzas were decent, but somewhat doughy in the middle and pretty bland. I think both the Pizza Studio and Pielogy toppings are fresher and have more flavor in general. It did take significantly longer to cook our pizzas than I was expecting… Overall, a decent a cheap option for custom pizza.

My son and I were looking for something to eat nearby and thought we should finally try this place since its walking distance from us. He ordered a cheese pizza– Maddy for about $ 7 and a vanilla milkshake for about $ 3. He loves the milkshake. I tried it and it was one of the best ones we’ve tried. However, his cheese pizza wasn’t all that great. You can see from the picture that there wasn’t much sauce and the pizza was cooked a little too long cuz the cheese had dried up on the pizza. So it was a really dry cheese bread instead of pizza and he didn’t even eat it. My pizza was amazing. I love the thin crust! Lots of fresh meats and veggies. I asked for extra mushrooms but didn’t seem to get any but it still tasted fine. The garlic strips are also really dry even with dipping sauce. I would recommend getting pizzas with tipping and avoid the cheese pizza. And I would also recommend their milkshakes but I will be staying away from their garlic strips as well!

Good little shop. the guys I met there were friendly and carried a conversation while servicing customers. Treating them more like people than just paying customers. Pizza was just how I wanted it. and the price was right for the size. I would suggest everyone give it a try before Apple opens their new building across the street.

So I’ve already admitted that I am obsessed. Read my Santa Clara(el Camino and Scott location) review for the details on how it works, but this review will be based on service alone. I came back a day after my last mod pizza visit because I was on my way back from the gym. It was rainy and cold and generally miserable and I was hungry! The first thing I will say about this location is that is is much bigger than the Santa Clara location. Lots more seating and easier parking. I ordered my usual packed pie and this order process went without a hitch. When I went to get my finished pie, they had also already drizzled it w ranch and pesto! Kudos go out to Lyn, who took my initial order, and Eric, who poured my beer(his first!) for their excellent customer service. In the short week that this location has been open, I can already tell that they are a «go-to» dinner spot for a lot of families and high schoolers. It was pretty empty when I arrived at 545pm on Saturday night but as I write this at 7, it has filled up with lots of families with kids. The line has built up to ebb and flow, but never to the point where patrons look annoyed at waiting too long. The tables are cleaned often, even when patrons forget to bus their own tables because the staff make periodic sweeps to clean plates and napkins. I really appreciated that the manager, Peter, stopped by to personally ask me about my dining experience and to see how I was doing. We had a nice conversation about his staff and the future of Mod Pizza. They pay their staff more than minimum wage, which may explain the recent price increase. I approve! And another kudos to Eric also for asking me if I would like some water as I was slowly finishing my beer. I will definitely be back to this location as it is on my way home coming back from the gym and from work. I hope that they stick around!
