July and August have been HOT. Hot days increase cravings for cool treats. I particularly like root beer floats. There aren’t many places in town to get a root beer float, but we were told we could get one here. We drove out with the expectation that cool treats would satisfy. I shouldn’t have had any expectations. The root beer float was terrible. Awful. It was all creamy dairy and no root beer. In fact, it was basically a milkshake — which I hate(I can’t do too much dairy). I was majorly disappointed. Ugh. Yet, we came back. And we keep coming back. (Where else can we go around here?) Strawberry shortcake treat? That was terrible too — the cake part was dry & crumbly, and it didn’t even come with ice cream! We inquired about this, and the girl working the counter gave me a cup of frozen custard for free. That was nice, at least. I also tried a cherry-dipped vanilla cone once. Not bad. The only thing I’ve eaten that made me smile was the mint chocolate chip. THAT was good. Mmm… probably the only thing I’ll order in the future. As for Kattleman’s Kreek itself: it’s small restaurant with a little salad bar in front and a menu with burgers, chicken, fish, etc. Happy Hour runs from 3−5pm &8−10pm with half price specials and appetizers. They also have a catering menu. The dining area is slightly dated, and slightly dirty. It never screams«clean!» Next to the restaurant is the Kattleman Kreamery, with all the dairy treats. It’s a cute little corner, but as mentioned earlier, the treats we’ve gotten have been hit or miss. Meh. The chalkboard sign inside says grass-fed meat and local veggies are coming soon, with a market opening in August. I haven’t seen it yet, but maybe there’s some hope for this place. Until then, I’m avoiding the root beer floats.

I keep giving the place the benefit of the doubt, It was awful, Wished I had driven on to Windy Corner… A much better meal for same price. Save your money & keep on driving.
