Very nice place staffed with nice people! Our family ate here last weekend, we were visiting all the shops, dog in tow. We had lunch on the front deck, much like being at a friends house. The hostess even gave our dog a doggie treat! Make sure you try the hushpuppies…

A nice addition to this quaint area. A little pricey, capt platter for the wife and a scallop shrimp pasta fish cost 78. That included a bowl of chowder(not good) and 3 domestics. The portions were decent and the flavor of the pasta was very good. Mixed basil and goat cheese took it up a notch. The capt platter was good portion over all but individually a little small. We were greeted quickly and with a smile. Special note: our server a recent college grad was a 7 star rock star for service.

I don’t eat seafood, but I like the Oyster Bar. Their non seafood options are good. The pasta is great and I tried the airline chicken the other day and it was awesome.

5 stars for quality of food and over the top service. This place was a fantastic spot to eat at during dinner because we had a nice view of all the lights in the trees from the town square. Our server was super friendly, made great recommendations, and very attentive. We were checked on enough where our glass was never empty. The food was flavorful, plentiful, and seasoned. The seared tuna was amazing and the wedge salad was extremely tasty. We are from out of town and went to try this place because of you Unilocalers! So I am passing it forward and saying this place is worth a try if you are looking for a great low key spot right in town!

The crab bisque made me sick within hours, lasted or two days. And the calamari was in one large breaded glob, not crisp and individual at all. And when I asked if this was how they were supposed to be, I was told they were. The calamari at Longhorn are far better, and in fact all the food is. Save the money, go to Red Lobster and at least stay healthy.

Excellent customer service, Excellent food! Originally we ordered a dish which was very fresh but very lacking in seasoning. When I expressed my opinion of the food the server was very quick to make sure I not only found something I loved but didn’t leave hungry or dissatisfied. I was beyond impressed and left rediculously full and would recommend them to everyone! Crab bisque, crab cakes, steamed oysters, chicken tenders, ahi tuna, thai chilli calamari, delicious!

This restaurant was terrible. The crab bisque soup was disgusting. Way Too m uch sherry. If you can’t find salt at your local grocery store it’s because it was all in the oysters — which landed up in our napkin. The manager gave a lame excuse and complained that he didn’t like it either! No compensation was even offered. Go to captain D’s it’s right down the street!

Service is on point and amazing, JESSICA was so attentive without over bearing and such a sweetheart… perfect balance, the Mahi tacos were awesome and the«trashy» aka fried rice was good too, the star was the she crab bisque and the hush puppies(thanks Unilocal for the free coupon*) if in town again there is no doubt where I’ll be eating dinner!

YES! Great crab bisque. Free Hush Puppies if you check in on Unilocal. The Calamari were incredible. Perfectly crispy, well seasoned, sauteed in a garlicky sauce to perfection. Wow. We got an appetizer, a main, two drinks,(plus the Unilocal Hush Pups)! And the biggest WOW– The check was less than $ 30. The Service was toppity-top notch. The hostess seated us right away, and our server was waaaay cooler than cool. We ate on the patio. They immediately brought water for our dogs. The interior was cutesy quaint. There was a large table filled with older women(in their 70s and 80s) who looked like they were about to play a Bridge tournament. The bathroom smelled great, and looked spotless. The food was delicious. Lots of street parking. If you are ever in the area, eat here. You will be pleasantly surprised, at the amazing food, the great service, and the price of your check at the end of(what will possibly have been) your favorite meal of the week! Maybe of the month! Really really good, consistent. I like.

Savory fried green tomato appetizer. Lightly breaded, light and flaky fish in fish & chips. Cubans was the right mix of heat and melded flavors. The secret sauce added a little kick to it. Staff was friendly and personable. And to top it off, dog friendly porch! Would recommend without hesitation.

My wife and I have been here on two different dates. You get exactly what you pay for here, and I mean that we always leave satisfied. The Oyster Bar doesn’t have much competition in the area when it comes to seafood but it would be difficult to beat if it did.

I doubt it could get any better. We have been several times and each time the food is brought out timely, as we ordered it, good presentation(meaning not all over the plate), server was attentive but not overly and the view is great.

Check it out it’s great! After checking out some of the great little shops we stopped by to check out menu and were greeted on the porch by the friendly hostess. It was early so we decided to shop a little more, we came back later and it was a great decision, wonderful waitress, great appetizers, fresh seafood. We sat upstairs on the glass enclosed balcony overlooking the square great place you should check out all of the staff were perfect, and the owner/manager inquired about how our experience was… always a plus!

Fantastic Mahi Mahi special was excellent with just the right seasoning. Very fresh & delicious oysters & steamed clams. The fried shrimp & oysters were popcorn, not what I expected, but we’re good. Nice atmosphere as well.

5 Star Service and Dining in Dahlonega??? Believe it! Strolling up the sidewalk we are warmly greeted with huge smiles accompanied with warm Hello’s even before we started up the stairs… That’s hospitality! Promptly seated upstairs on a great enclosed porch with a view of the square. Our table neighbors began our food envy with their huge raw oysters and very nice white tuna ceviche. We proceeded to order the oysters and a bowl of crab bisque… The oysters were fresh and huge! The bisque rivaled the best I have ever had including the finest restaurants in Charleston. Still curious we also ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer. Slap something… they have this dish down pat too! How will we decide on a dinner entrée? After much consultation we opted to try the Chilean Sea Bass with lump crab, asparagus and mashed potatoes. Every bite was a bit of heaven and just cause it was so good we also had another bowl of crab bisque. I have my homemade coconut cream pie ready to go… I’d describe it too but one more bite and the outcome may be explosive… We highly recommend Back Porch when in Dahlonega! Lee and his wife are passionate owners — this reflects down to their servers. Thanks to Hannah for 5 Star Service and Brandon whom inspired our choices with his wisdom of each dish. Live music on a rainy Tuesday made this a perfect date evening with all components just perfectly coming together.

Setting and views of the square was a 5 Calamari was a 5 Crab bisque was a 2 Atmosphere was a 5 Service was a 5 With regard to the bisque… Served a little cool for my liking and the spices were bland for my taste. Calamari was hot and fresh and the flavors blended very good! Will be back to try other items on their menu and highly recommend that you stop in and enjoy all that they have to offer.

Back Porch Oyster is outstanding! The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is an interesting twist of a nice Southern house and a beach bar. You can even sit outside on the deck overlooking downtown Dahlonega, which is kind of pretty. There was a lot of traffic and movement and much of the architecture was blocked, but it is still a nice place to look at the city. Rachel was our server and she did an amazing job. She was such a refreshing twist after the horrible experiences we had in Helen. She made sure our drinks were refreshed and very friendly. The food is obviously the star of the show in any restaurant. We received complimentary hush puppies for being Unilocalers(although I am not a hush puppy fan at all). They were okay, but I wouldn’t take my own advice on hush puppies unless I happened to recommend them at some point. I started with a calamari appetizer that had a sweet and sour sauce with black and white sesame seeds. The calamari was very good. Definitely one of the best I have ever had. It was slightly overcooked and that was evident in the chewy texture of the calamari. The flavors in the sauce definitely went well with the lightly fried calamari, though, and I would definitely order this dish again! My wife had the Oysters Casino and shared a few with me. She isn’t a big seafood person, but she eats oysters. I have always found that really strange. We both enjoyed these little creations. She kept taking the oysters out of the shell and putting them on crackers with hot sauce, which was odd because she ordered them cooked with all of the toppings. She let me eat her toppings, though, so who am I to complain? The flavors all paired well with the oysters. There was the nice seafood taste of the oysters combined with crunchiness of the other ingredients. It was odd that celery was in the mix as well, but I didn’t even notice it. I just knew it was there because it was listed in the menu. I had the Mahi Mahi Fish Taco. It had some rice that was not very good. It had some strange seasoning like saffron mixed with paprika or something and tons of salt. It was way too salty. The fish taco also suffered from over-seasoning. It was still really good though. It had lettuce, fried onions, mahi mahi, chipotle sour cream and a tortilla shell. The ingredients all meshed really well together, but it probably needed to blend a little better. The sauce the fish was cooked in tasted good, but it was overwhelming with salt. That would be my biggest complaint about anything: the seasoning and the salt. Please don’t let that discourage you from giving this place a try. It’s got a really cool location, a friendly staff, and the food honestly awesome! I was so torn about choosing my food, too. I wish I could have somehow stuff my face with half of the menu. The Ahi Tuna looked amazing.

My favorite stop in Dahlonega for food. Seafood is amazingly fresh, not just for a mountain town, but for anywhere! Taste like you’re visiting the beach. Plenty of options on the menu and ample dining space with downstairs and upstairs spaces as well as porch dining on both levels. The crab bisque is always a winner. Honestly I’ve never had a bad dish and we’ve visited here many times through the years. Service is friendly and laid back. Don’t go if you’re in a rush. Another feature that reminds me of the beach attitude. Always a great selection of oysters and other fresh seafood. Order up and enjoy!

Fantastic ambiance! I love how we were warmly greeted as soon as we arrived! The wine list blew me away… Dahlonega is moving on up! Here come the oysters! Yum! Our WONDERFUL server, Anna, has been so helpful with everything! She really knows Dahlonega & was so up to date on the wine & beer selections! Ask for her!
