We stopped by on our way to the mountains. Got a table before the lunch rush and shared the BOLT sandwich — a 3 layer BLT with onion. 1sandwich with 2 sides was more than enough for 2. The fries were average(but at least they were hot) and the slaw was outstanding. Service was prompt and very friendly. They have an extensive menu of traditional breakfast and lunch items — definitely worth more than 1 visit !

My mother and I came two days in a row for breakfast and Oleeta was our server both times. The food was amazing, portions huge, and Oleeta was a great server and kept us laughing to boot! We will definitely be back many times! Breakfast all day everyday, except closed on Mondays.

Great family-friendly restaurant for your North Georgia weekend! Something on the menu for everyone — sandwiches, soups, salads, wraps, entrees, kids menu and breakfast all day. Coleslaw and potato salad are homemade! And the fries are crispy and delicious!

My wife and I had lunch here. It is a do-drop-in kind of place with a lot of locals. It is a little hard to spot from the road because it is attached to a gas station/convenience store. It is a great value. The meal prices are low and the portion sizes huge. There were lots of locals when we were there and the staff seemed to know everyone on a first-name basis. we thoroughly enjoyed the experience of dining at the foothill grill. We are looking forward to going back.

The wife and I stopped here yesterday for a late lunch while we were out leaf-looking. As others have said, it looks like a hole-in-the-wall attached to a country store. I really want to love this place because the menu is right up my alley and the people were super nice. Unfortunately though, we had a couple of problems. First, they were out of a lot of items so many menu choices weren’t available. I’m assuming the fall rush caught them by surprise. More troubling was the speed of service. As soon as we sat down, the bus boy brought us menus but it was somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes before we saw our waitress. After we ordered, it took somewhere between 30 and 40 minutes to get our food. I could understand the delays at the height of lunch hour, but this was toward the end of lunch(2:00ish) and there were empty tables. All that said, the food we got was excellent! I had the fried chicken livers and they were the best I’ve had in years. The fried okra actually tasted like okra and was lightly battered unlike most restaurant-style fried okra. My wife got a burger and it was perfectly cooked and quite tasty. I’m going to assume that I got them on a really bad day, but I will definitely give them another chance when I’m in the area.

I was on a motorcycle ride when we stopped in for breakfast early on a Friday morning. This place is indeed a hole in the wall connected to a gas station. It is a regular meeting place for locals for sure. The food was what I expected, salty and greasy. I had the rubbish truck with hash browns and a big fluffy biscuit. This is exactly what I needed of six hours of riding through the north Georgia mountains. Nothing fancy but good cooking and we will defiantly be back!

I had the Biscuit & Gravy — Best I have had. Finally found somewhere that has better B&G then Hardee’s. Wife had the Pancake & Eggs with bacon. It was excellent. The pancake was very large and fluffy. One of the best she has ever had. Prices are very reasonable.

Best place to eat in Dahlonega! Great food for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Best shrimp I ever had anywhere! Pork tenderloin is eye rolling back in your head good! Every dish I’ve ordered has always tasted superior to other restaurants and everything is fresh! My husband loves their fried livers and fried oysters. My dad loves their wings! He said their wings are the best he’s had!

My son got the Philly Steak Omelet; I got the Eggs, Bacon, and Pancake Special. Both were served quickly and hot… I’d ask for Crispy Bacon next time though and the Pancakes were a bit sweet(not enough contrast to add syrup). Air conditioning at 10:00 and it was still a bit humid, slight odor. Very Friendly and Attentive Staff. I’ll go back — the Shrimp and Grits and Biscuits with Gravy looked great.

Breakfast was amazing! Great portions, everything was fresh. Husband couldn’t even finish his trash trunk omelet. Great service.

To the person who complained about maple syrup, really? Do you know how much it would cost for a restaurant like this to serve real maple syrup? I don’t think you’re familiar with good ol’ Southern breakfast restaurants because that’s what they all serve. I got the Philly cheesesteak omelet which is exactly what you’d expect from that. It’s trashy breakfast food! The hash browns were over done and too salty the first time and she offered to get me another round. Much better this time, though they were super greasy and I could see the cook was a little annoyed at her request. So the food was probably 3 stars but the fact that they’re the only real breakfast place(with eggs and such) in Dahlonega, I gave them an extra star.

I have always thought this place was wonderful. But my experience today was unreal. I won’t return. And I doubt they would serve me if I did. My son and I were there for lunch. I ordered the oysters, which were really small. I put six of them in my palm and took a picture of them for Facebook. When the waitress came by, I told her the problem. Then the female owner came over and I repeated my complaint. She said she’d take it off the bill and asked if I wanted something else. My son had a test to attend, so I did not have time. At the register, the waitress rang up my son’s meal and two drinks. I pointed to the table where my drink was untouched. I said I had been planning on drinking it with the meal that I never ate. The female owner took it off the bill. The male owner came out and said, «What’s wrong with you? Why are you trying to make trouble?» I asked how I was making trouble. He said, «By sending those oysters back.» I told him they were tiny – that was not a real order of oysters. He said, «That’s what my supplier sent me. They’re not always the same. What should I do with them, send them back?» I said, «I don’t know what you should do with them, but you should not serve them to customers and call them an order of oysters.» He said, «You’ve been eating oysters here for three years and you never complained.» I said, «That’s because they’ve always been good, until now.» He said, «I’m going in the back and getting that plate and we’ll ask these two guys here,» indicating two old guys, who I presumed to be regulars, «if there is anything wrong with those oysters.» I said, «I’m not interested. The oysters were tiny.» As I left, I told the two old guys to enjoy the view. I have never been treated that way by an owner. On one hand he said that his supplier sent him unsatisfactory oysters, but on the other hand he said there was nothing wrong with them. Of course the real stopper is that he asked a customer, «What is wrong with you? Why are you trying to make trouble?» for sending an order back, which I have never done at that place. One final thing – when I have purchased oysters(other than in the shuck or on the half-shell) they are sold by volume, not by the piece. If the owners also buys by volume he might partially compensate by including more in an order, without having lower margins on the meal. The oyster quality would not be the same, but if he buys by volume and sells by volume, the wait staff could warn that the oysters are small and that more will be in the order to compensate.

I eat here often because the food is good, the service is good, and the appearance is clean. This is one of the more economical places to go for a satisfying meal in or around Dahlonega. I recommend the collard greens on Wed/Thur. The place has a pleasant family oriented atmosphere. Burgers, po boys, fried shrimp, oysters, chicken fingers, country fried steak, it’s all good. I have never left unhappy.

Eh. The breakfast was what you should expect from this type of place. The syrup for my piece of French toast had to have been the absolute lowest quality«table“syrup they could find. It had no flavor whatsoever. I lean if you aren’t going to have real maple syrup(which is the only thing I buy) at least have a better quality fake syrup.

This is a great casual place for excellent food. My favorites are the rubbish truck omelets for breakfast and the fried oyster platter for lunch. The oysters are better than most places at the beach. The cocktail and tartar sauce and hush puppies are really good too! Oh, and try the fried pickles!

This is a great stop for breakfast. We have two daughters that played for UNG, so we spent lots of meals in Dahlonega. This was always above average food and friendly. If they had beer/wine a five would have been granted. If your kids like chicken fingers – JACKPOT!

A solid choice for a good breakfast or lunch. Can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu. The buffalo chicken sandwich is particularly outstanding. Service is quick and friendly. Proximity to downtown and UNG makes it an easy visit. Stop by and check it out. You’ll be very impressed.

I eat here daily for breakfast. Best Biscuits in town or around for that matter. Never had a bad meal. ***** Rated in my book and affordable to boot. The owners Lee and Jeff are good honest folks who are always nice and greet you with a smile. Taylor their daughter who is my waitress most days is cool also and always johnny on the spot. Be sure to get in early or the kids from the North Georgia Collage will be and it gets crowded after 10am on the weekends.

Continuous gossip behind the counter by the owner and her daughter about customers is why I stopped going. Floridian owners, moved to Dahlonega, who brought their Florida ways with them. I’ve witnessed them being venemously rude to a new hire and just got TIREDOFTHEOWNER’S OBNOXIOUSMOUTH. She never seemed to know when to shut up. On the last trip there, after having just mowed the lawn, I went in exhausted. The owner assured me that I «had been drinking.» I had not been drinking at all, certainly didn’t smell like it or act like it. But she assured me I was wrong and she was right. And I do take issue with a white trash obviously uneducated hick of a no-class woman that has no sense of what’s appropriate in a social setting. The red colored interior, pre-packaged uninspired greasy food, and vendictive public displays by the female owner ruined it for me. It seems she wears the pants at The Grill, and her husband just works there, and says«yes mam» and«no mam» accordingly.
