It’s always a good sign when the restaurant is full of trophies they’ve won for their bbq. It is EXCELLENT! Don’t drive by just because it’s next to a gas station. This place is great.

This is hands down the best bbq in Georgia, possibly in the Southeast. The meat reminds me of The Salt Lick outside of Austin Texas, and the selection of sauces was to die for. I will drive from Atlanta just to eat here.

Stopped by there yesterday with my son while on a motorcycle ride. Best BBQ (pulled pork) we’ve had in years at local BBQ joints. Meat was moist, perfect blend of bark and inside meat. Not sauced — the way we prefer it as we are from Memphis…
Service was excellent from the owner/​operators…
Try it and you’ll certainly be impressed.

I stopped in here after coming off a trail hike at Amicalola Falls. We were starving. First of all, it is attached to a gas station so it is easy to miss. We stopped in and got two pulled pork sandwich specials, which were fantastic. The fries were delicious and looked to be handcut, which was great. The manager couldn’t have been nicer. He knew we were starving. He hooked me up with a side of brunswick stew free of charge just because I wanted to try it. The stew was on point too. We finished up with a piece of peach cobbler, which again was fantastic. The interior was quiet, clean, and very pleasant. The service was terrific. I give this place five stars because it was a great experience and I would go back in a minute.

Be sure to bite into the savory BBQ here when in and around Dahlonega, we were headed to Amicalola falls when we did and despite the adjoining gas station it really was delicious! I tried the pulled pork and it was not a bit dry, super moist! He had the chicken and brisket both delicious. For the amount of food it is well worth it.

Fantastic bbq. I love to cook my own but when I’m lazy they are the place to go to. so glad they have a awesome location. me and my dad go there regularly.

BBQ fans, this is where you want to eat.
I thoroughly enjoy eating at Hickory Prime because the BBQ is great and the staff are very friendly. If you are visiting Dahlonega for the first or fiftieth time I would definitely recommend Hickory Prime if you love BBQ. Try the Pulled Pork sandwich with some of their mild sauce and goldfinger sauce mixed together! Maybe you crave breakfast? They have that too! Chicken wings? You know it!
I could go on and on about how great the food is and you can read it and say, «I dunno, this guy probably isn’t a BBQ judge like I am». Fear not! Actual BBQ judges in actual BBQ competitions Love their BBQ too! They have a lot of trophies, ribbons, medals from all over covering their walls.
So give it a taste, your taste buds will thank you!
