John and Joy Cabot have replaced my garage door sping and now installed a WiFi connected door opener for me. They were right on time and very pleasant to deal with. I even got to pet their pug puppy. I highly recommend them.

Update 930 — john the owner called me back. Said he was loading and couldn’t talk earlier. Told me he’d be there between 9 and 11. I explained that it was rude of him, but I want the gate done, so he is trying. I’ll post the review on the work when it’s done– fingers crossed Like other reviewers. I called him for an estimate to repair my broken gate. And he gave me a time and showed up several hours later then specified time. He looked at my gate gave me a price and I told him to go ahead with the repair. He said he wasn’t available for two days to which I said that’s fine. Called him the morning of the repair to confirm that he was coming, since I had taken off from work. I called him at 830, for a scheduled 9am appt. he said” I don’t like to be called this early and u don’t like to be rushed. If you are in such a rush, you an call someone else”. I replied I just wanted to confirm you were coming, to which he said he’s not, and rudely hung up. It’s a shame, that he lost out on my business since we were planning on changing both our gate and garage door to a connected model in a few months. I hope he reads these reviews and understands that web someone is calling him to get their gate repaired it’s because it’s not working an they may not access to their garage. I think that’s kind of a rush, don’t you.

This place has gone down big time. The last 3 times I called them for repairs they never showed up. When I asked why they missed the appointment the guy yelled at me saying«look ma’am, I got busy alright!». I’m not sure what’s happened but they’re definitely not the business they used to be and they’ve declined significantly in their customer service. Spare yourself the drama and find another service.

If I would have written this review a couple of years ago, I’d have given John at Cabot 5 stars. He was prompt, courteous and did a great job. Because of that, I called him today when my garage door broke, and it was like I was talking to a different person. He was curt and absolutely refused to give me an estimate of how long it would take him to get to me. I wasn’t in a dire emergency, but I don’t think it unreasonable to want to know if he thought it would be one hour or several. When I asked for more of a guesstimate, he told me I could call someone else and hung up on me. How unprofessional is that? Seems one other reviewer here had a similar experience. And now that I’ve talked to some of my neighbors looking for other recommendations, I’m finding some of them have had the same dealings with him. I definitely wouldn’t give him my business again, and can’t recommend him any less.

John is fabulous! He is extremely knowledgeable about gate openers, controllers, options, and he knows how everything works together. I had a super-slow Mighty Mule opener on my gate — worked sometimes, sometimes didn’t(usually when it was really cold or rainy — OK, I’ll get out of the car…) I asked John to install an Apollo opener because it is fast, but I wanted a gate controller that had a soft-start, soft-stop feature. He mixed and matched controllers and remotes to give me the perfect setup, all for about $ 1000 less than another bid. John always answers my call(anytime) and gives me good advice when I want to tweak my system. His warranty is legit too. He always comes when I have any issue, for instance, once my system had a blown fuse — he came and changed it — no charge, and another time the gate controller needed to be reset, again which he did at no charge. A true entrepreneur with a head for customer service. Do not hesitate to call.

The repair man came within hours after I called — I had to give him some time since there were other appointments on his schedule. He was very friendly and straight-forward. He was in and out after making a few fixes in less than an hour.

They came out the same day I called to look at our automatic gate that wasn’t working. It was a minor problem so they didn’t charge anything for the service call. We will definitely be using them if/when our old gate breaks.

A competitor offered over the phone to do it for less than Cabot’s estimate to replace the broken spring on our garage door. But when the overhead door competitor showed up, he said we needed to replace the rollers at $ 120, and it was unsafe to repair it unless we did so – then tried to upgrade us to a whole new door for«only a couple hundred more.» John Cabot not only matched the competitor’s price without replacing the rollers, he replaced the 16-foot bar across the door at no extra charge. My old, heavy garage door has never been so quiet. I’d trust John’s advice, he knows what he’s doing, and is reasonable in his pricing.
