Chubby’s

Just like a Denny’s or IHOP but the prices are better and the selection is larger. They even have Italian and Greek food on the menu. Food quality compared to Denny’s or IHOP is similar.
Their salsa and ranch are homemade. Ranch is really good. Overall, great place for breakfast or any other time of day. Chicken fried steak was good too.

Visiting some friends in Texas and we couldn’t wait to try out Chubby’s! We went for breakfast and it was so delicious. We have had the pancake mix at home and it’s so good so we couldn’t wait to try them out at the restaurant. The breakfast didn’t disappoint. Our waitress was super friendly.

Home grown diner like atmosphere. There was a slight wait when we arrived but that was ok… everyone was really friendly. Folks there were really nice and our waitress had a really funny sense of humor…“I don’t know how the grits taste. I don’t eat grits. But sure you can go ahead and take one for the team!” Not said with sarcasm but with a smile… it started off our breakfast/​brunch just right.
I had the Chubby’s favorite which came with 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 pieces of ham, 1 sausage, hash browns or grits & 2 pancakes. Everything was delish… except the grits! I think they may have cooked them with no seasoning in the water. They had no flavor and I could not get them seasoned properly. Next time I will definitely stick with the hash browns. The pancakes were light and fluffy and tasted homemade.
My hubby got the Chub’s Signature Chicken Fried Steak ‘N Eggs. It was a nice size portion and he enjoyed everything on his plate.
We were there after church and some folks had already started to order lunch and we saw someone receive their side of fried okra. It looked so good we ordered our own. There were perfectly fried and seasoned. You were still able to taste the okra.
Our waitress was super attentive and kept the water and coffee cups full all morning! Great spot… would gladly go back!

First time here (we live across town east of Dallas) but trusted the reviews. Good choice. Large menu with nice assortment. Grilled cajun chicken was excellent. Service was quick and attentive. Def recommend.

Not very impressed with the breakfast. It was pretty bland. I have had better meals at IHOP, maybe there lunch or dinner is better. They have a wide selection. We had a good waitress. Otherwise it really wasn’t a memorable place.

Ok I feel like a pig! Yes j ate the whole thing! Good food and atmosphere. Angie our waitperson took very good care of us! Don’t be in a rush. The food was a little slow coming out the kitchen. Very enjoyable meal!

Chubby’s is one of the best bang for your buck places I’ve come across! Everything there is so affordable, and they’re portions are big. What more could you ask for? My favorite is their French Toast topped with fruit I love how it feels like home-​cooking without that chain restaurant feel.

Not too impressed at all after reading other helpers reviews. Food was quick but service had no personality and felt like I was in a retirement home. The food was average at best. I ordered a classic BLT which on menu never states it has mayo. Get my sandwhich and lathered in it. Don’t even feel like arguing about it so just wiped off best I could. Won’t be returning.

I took my son for breakfast and was surprised to find Gyros on the menu. I love Greek food. The waitresses are consistently courteous and prompt. Good comfort food menu. Affordable. We’ll keep going back.

Love this place ! For breakfast cubbys favorite is on the top of my list, also the French toast is delicious

Previously Owens Restaurant. We came in and waited to be seated. Food was hot and served quickly. Pleasurable experience, will return.

Initially when we arrived to Chubby’s we thought we were going to try something different since we are from the Houston area and now here we are in Dallas. The service was excellent staff was wonderful and friendly and the selection of food from the menu was superior. However it stopped when we received our food. The eggs were carton eggs and the pancakes had a grainy or powdery type texture to them. The fried pork chops that came with the fried pork chops and eggs were unflavored and a big disappointment. The ham had an aftertaste that wasn’t very pleasant.
All of the food was unsalted which I get because not a lot of customers like a lot of salt on their food. When I express that the food was insalted I mean it had no salt at all. I would say it’s the excellent service and the friendliness of the staff that gets people to continuously come to this restaurant. As much as I love the Denny’s and IHOP in any major city, I would say this restaurant is far superior in customer service.

Their breakfast is great, good service, and reasonable prices. My mom likes going here because the food seems freshly made and very warm. We will continue to go in the mornings.

I did not enjoy meal. And not thrilled with today’s service. I will never again order meatloaf.

Went here for brunch because my boyfriend would always talked about this place and how awesome it is. When we arrived there was a 30 minute wait. We decided to wait since I wanted to see how great this place is. We got seated about 30 minutes later and we ordered the appetizer sampler, chicken florentine and the chicken fried steak. The appetizer sampler came with steak fingers, chicken strips, mozzarella sticks and onion rings. The only thing I liked was the steak fingers and mozzarella sticks. The chicken strip had no flavor. I didn’t get to try the onion rings but my boyfriend said it wasn’t all that great. The chicken fried steak came soon after the appetizer and it was okay, I’ve had better and I don’t even know where to start with the chicken florentine… it was watery and plain. It seem like they had used frozen veggies so when it was cooked it made it really watery and there were no flavor to the chicken. They could’ve seasoned it more.

This place was good, cheap, and large portions. I ate dinner here so and I tried the chopped steak, pork chops, and chicken fried chicken. Chop steak was good but needed more seasoning, kinda bland, pork chops were very good, cfc was also good but all sides were mediocre. I would say for this area I give it a solid 3 stars if the was north Dallas probably 2 stars.

I’m impressed! They have such a variety of entrees and breakfast is served all day. My husband, daughter and I came at night. They had the Louisiana Style fried catfish meal and I had the Chubby ’ s breakfast. The portions are really a good size. I was so jealous, not that my breakfast wasn’t good because it was, but I sampled my hubby’s fish. Omg! It tasted so good! Customer service. was great, kept the drinks coming. All food was fresh and cooked to order. I saw how attentive they are in keeping the floors swept and things clean +++++. So guess what, my son asked would I be his valentine and could he take me out… we’re back! ! This is some good food I could eat here twice a week easily! You really don’t know until you try and it is worth it!

My review is for dessert only.
Fantastic buttermilk pie that’s all I had but the cherry pie looked delicious a friend was saving for later and the cheesecake got a thumbs up from another friend. Next time I’m in the area I’m stopping in for dessert to go. I’ll be honest I’ll make a special trip and get more than one to try. I may try the other food but I’m sold on the dessert.
Truth be told their buttermilk pie is better than Hattie’s and you all know I tell the truth!

This review is only about the dessert. I will have to return on another occasion to have a sit down experience in this restaurant. After going to dinner in Oak Cliff, my dinner party and I wanted to grab dessert somewhere that wasn’t crowded. My mom suggested Chubby’s and I was highly skeptical. I had never heard of this place and the location is not my usual scene. But I was willing to entertain my mom’s suggestion and we headed to Chubby’s. I grabbed a slice of cheesecake and it was delicious. The other people in my party tried the different pies (buttermilk chess and cherry) and they raved about them as well. Next time, my review update will include more information about the rest of their menu.
