Real talk this café all but made my best friend cry from the sheer overflow of good vibes!
Supporting the local Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters, interacting with down to earth baristas, and soaking in the coziness — what more could you want?
The wooden furnishings are soothing and the back portion extra endearing with its kid-​friendly mini stools and books. +1 for the outdoor private patio seating (with an artsy wall around the corner to boot). Bummed that the coffee goods & wares shop next door was closed when I went, but that looked swell as well.
This is the place for your slow morning/​afternoon retreats; quality and thoughtfulness pervade the experience. Come for the coffee & stay for the conversations.

Probably one of the best cappuccinos I have ever had! Friendly staff and warm, inviting ambiance. I think it’s cool that they refrain from using wasteful to-​go cups as well.

If you like espresso you’ll like Davis Street. These guys are awesome and fun to talk to. Also, it always seems like I run in into friends here. Great spot to meet up and see friends! I end up setting meetings here whenever I can. Y’all should check it out!

I appreciate coffee culture as much as the next Chemex owner, so believe me when I say these folks take their coffee very serious.
There is no jug of drip coffee waiting to be served. Every last cup is made to order with this brewing machine I would expect to find in a laboratory. There is no wi-​fi, as that might distract you from appreciating the fruity notes of their in-​house roasted Rosemont Crest blend. There is no grabbing a cup of coffee to-​go because it degrades the drinking experience. And don’t be in a hurry because you can’t rush a work of latte art.
I can simultaniously love and mock everything I just mentioned, right? The fact is, the coffee is great and their OCCRoasts are some of my favorite in town.

Nice coffee shop, even though it’s a bit ways out of way except for the Oak Cliff peeps. Atmosphere is cool. Seating seems to always be available. Great quality coffee that is roasted in-​house (aka Oak Cliff Roasters). Hipster vibe, but also family-​friendly vibe with the kiddy chairs (how did they think to pull this off, beats me).
Signature drink here seems to be the Van Buren which is basically a cortado with sparkling water on the side.

No coffee to go? Really? No half & half? Really? This shop should make efforts to understand that a customer who is there to purchase their product is already not in the best mood BEFORE they get their coffee, so to have to sift through the LACK of options this company offers is too much to ask given the price of a premium cup. No thanks — I’ll take my business to one of the plethora of coffee shops that actually makes coffee for the busy traveling customer.

WITH that said… it’s absolutely on the «coffee snob» side. I get that they don’t want you to sit on wifi or take your coffee to-​go– but come on. Even in Seattle, Austin, Portland– or wherever this place strives to be– the coffee culture is less oppressive than at this joint.
I’ll definitely get a cup or two of coffee here– but Espumoso down on Bishop is less crowded, less trendy, and just better. They also use paper products and don’t charge a fortune for a silly mason jar.

What a cozy, intimate environment. You can watch whole bean coffee being roasted, read a newspaper, or converse with friends. You know, all things we had to do before the advent of technology and wifi.
I was hoping they had cold brew available by the glass but they only have these 12oz soda type bottles.
Also — not sure if this is ironic or not but they serve Mill Kings milk (as close to raw as legally possible). Mill Kings. Milkings. Get it?

If you’re looking for a chill spot to hangout with friends or maybe do a little bit of work in the morning then this might be the spot for you. Davis Street Espresso has a lot of seating choices for you, bar style, booths, kids section and even an outdoor bus seating choice as well!
The one thing that lowers my review down for this place is that it’s in a very inconvenient location. It’s on the outskirts of Dallas city and you have to maneuver your way around the neighborhood to find street parking and besides that once you get to the actual Café there’s really nowhere else to go except to hop back into your car and drive somewhere else, but if you don’t mind the driving then this is a fine place. Another reason for my review being average is that they aren’t very accommodating when it comes to people who have a sweeter taste bud. I’m find with my coffee a bit darker, but my cousin on the other hand LOVES sweet stuff. They had no sugar station or offered any type of sugar to accommodate her, so she tried to get the sweetest item on the menu (mocha) and it didn’t have a hint of sweetness to it. So if you’re going with a group of people make sure they all love dark or don’t mind the no sugar. Also I got chocolate croissants for all of us and they didn’t even toast it like Starbucks would, it was left cold and we would eat it as is. The croissant was also very dry and not very appetizing as well, but I mean on the brightside, it did go slightly okay with a cappuccino… sort of? Not really…
When people say that the south is a friendly place, I’d like to differ because this place along with the stores next to it were the opposite of friendly. They went through your transaction reluctantly and you sign and pay and that’s it. No conversations no happy welcomes (especially since we’re all the way from Jersey). I’d have to say NY is WAYYY more friendly then this area is… that’s sorta sad.
I mean other than that, the cappuccino I ordered was good (like I said I don’t mind the no sugar, but there needs to be options for other people) and there was plenty of seats available. The atmosphere of the place was nice and that’s it.

For the coffee lover in me, this is truly a special place.
Pros: Davis Street is the type of coffee shop you go where when they post the various flavor profiles below the coffee descriptions, you will actually taste them. It seems rare that you find a coffee shop that roasts their beans and keeps them fresh enough to pull those flavor profiles – and then properly executes the brewing process. Davis street does this, and you can tell they see their craft as an art form.
It is hard to say that I loved something more than the coffee, but I think what I loved more was their engagement with the community and their customers. I went around 9 on a weekday and there were several groups of regulars sharing their morning coffee together. The employees knew their names, their kids names, and had gotten to know them well enough to ask them things like how was the trip to the park yesterday. The morning regulars were very welcoming and were happy to share the community table. I chatted with several and was also able to work. It is very much so one of those come alone, leave with friends type of places. Later in the morning a group of young moms gathered with their little ones in the back of the coffee shop. There were blocks and various toys for the kids, and the area with the toys is setup away from the front door, but still in eye shot of the front counter so the moms could go and order while still watching their kids play.
Street parking is available.
Cons: They do not have disposable to go cups. While I never order take out I think this would frustrate people and is worth noting. They did have a deal where you could pay a deposit for a mason jar and take your coffee in that, and get their deposit back upon return, but otherwise plan on dinning in or bringing your own mug. Also there is no wifi and limited plugs. I get this, it is a coffee shop that is meant to breed community – but I did wish I had wifi at points.
Due to the fact that I went at 9am, I planned on waiting in line. I did wait about 3 – 4 minutes in line, my coffee did take about 10 minutes to be made. For someone in a rush – I would say try Davis Street when you have time to enjoy this place slowly.

Loved my visit to Davis Street Espresso. Took the free DLink bus here on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, and escaping from the blistering sun into the dark, cool shop was heavenly. From the stone floors to the slatted wooden walls and tables, Davis Street gives off a cozy yet eclectic vibe that is so welcoming. The staff was welcoming too; they greeted me warmly and when I asked for something cold and low calorie they offered two options: their cold brew (which they bottle) or their Iced Americano. The barista gave me an in-​depth description of each, explained the taste differences, and I chose the Iced Americano. At just $ 2, it’s the cheapest one I’ve had in Dallas. I watched while it was very carefully made and poured into a perfect little mason jar. I took my drink and a tiny little silver spoon for stirring and sat in one of their little wooden booths for two.
The drink was delicious and so refreshing, exactly what I needed. Even my under-​educated palate could tell it was some quality espresso. I sat for a while reading my book and enjoying the background music, which comes from an actual record player. When each record ended I watched a barista carefully sift through a shelf of records to select a new one.
As far as I can tell, the only downsides to Davis Street are ones that have already been brought up repeatedly here: their lack of WiFi, their kibosh on to-​go cups, and their very limited hours (they close at 2 PM). But I come to coffee shops to sit and read or chat with a friend, so of that list only the short hours bother me. The friendly, authentic vibe and delicious coffee at Davis Street will no doubt keep me coming back.

I love this place they have so many ways to make a great cup of coffee, personally I like either percolated or via Chemix. One of the few places I’ve been to that do it many ways stop by never been.

This is a retro spin on coffee. I get it. Back to the basics. It’s kinda like watching Madmen (if that’s your thing, you’ll appreciate this place). So I’m sitting here writing this review at noon on a Tuesday. The vibe is very lowkey, there’s music playing that reminds me of laid back, 70s elevator music. Even though they don’t have wifi or outlets, the 3 other customers here are one with thier electronic devices.
The décor is super cute and accomodating. I love the rustic meets deconstructed theme. I ordered a basic cup of coffee. It’s excellent and a good value at $ 2. There is only natural sugar and organic milk — no half & half, no stevia, don’t ask. As far as the baristas and customer service, I give it a passing mark. They are too cool for school so no one will smother you with butterfly kisses, but they were polite and helpful. If I could change anything it would be the music choice but that’s a matter of preference. All in all, I really like this place and would come often if it was convenient.

Great coffee in a great area brewed on a great machine!
Must do: order a cup brewed on the Alpha Dominche Steampunk. Have to specially ask for it — and you’ll be glad you did!

The dark and atmospheric «Oak Cliff Roasters» coffee bean roasting house
and café isn’t playing games.
A cherry red Ural scooter and sidecar was parked in the front window. Copper tubing from the high ceiling had been transformed into a makeshift single Edison bulb chandelier, embellished with tiny silver coffee spoons. Several coffee filtering devices were displayed like the V60,
a clever dripper and a Chemex with some available for purchase.

After being intoxicated by the smell, it’s impressive workshop, and a simple 14 item drink menu including coffee 2, hot chocolate 3 and cheer wine 3, I placed an order to accompany our spontaneous stroll through Bishop Arts.
«I hope I don’t get too wired.»
(I had already had a few espressos.)
We shuffled around the grounds for a bit when I noticed the intricate elaborate brewing system behind the bar.
«It’s an automated siphon brewing system.»

The green wave laced with brown kelp strands slowly formed its poisonous crest peak and lip.

Her stout face lighted with preface. My head fast forwarded through her spiel of options, which certainly did not include
a to go cup, and VCR blip paused on
«bring your own mug.» and
«available for purchase.»
Perhaps my relinquishment of said coffee cup astounded the heady proud brew girl, perhaps it didn’t, but it was satisfying as blowing the white plumes off a dandelion.
«Do you want your money back?» She asided without a note of grace as I purposefully turned my back to her.
Walking out the door and into sunshine —
I was overcome with relief.
But without coffee.

The experience at Davis Street Espresso is consistently fantastic. I haven’t had anything here I didn’t like. My favorite is the Van Buren, which is a cortado, Topo Chico, and a biscotti. The atmosphere is great, with lots of seating both inside and outside. The workers are always nice, and they do a great job making the drinks every time. I only wish they had to go drinks. I would pay a fee to offset the paper cup. I solved the problem by buying one of their surprisingly great porcelain to go cups for $ 12.
In all, this is my favorite coffee shop in Dallas.

I can’t say enough good things about Davis Street Espresso. They have the sweetest baristas, they’re family friendly, they’ve got a gorgeous interior and exterior… and the smoothest coffee.
There’s no wifi here, but that’s to encourage interaction. It can get fairly busy here, but everyone is talking, collaborating, or playing (the kids love the empty/​abandoned bus in the back). There’s even a beautiful alcove where small children can sit/​draw/​do whatever kids do.
I didn’t get a pretentious vibe from this place at all. The baristas are very knowledgeable. Davis Street Espresso was originally opened to showcase the Oak Cliff Coffee roasts, and they’re doing a fine job.

Great Third Wave enterprise. Super consultative barista started off by telling me all the reasons to be grateful to Starbucks for building the foundation for coffee literacy and then served me a ²⁄₃ Americano made with Hidden City espresso, roasted from Central American beans that was as intense as could be, and not a bit bitter.
Also showed me the Steampunk vacuum brewer, controlled by a Google Nexus tablet, one of just two in Texas. Great spot, proof yet again of why we should always support obsessives.

Okay, truth be told, I was a little nervous about coming to this coffee shop because some of the reviews made it seem very intimidating!
So, to those of you who are intimidated — don’t be! The baristas have always been friendly and accommodating. No, they don’t have wifi or to-​go cups or artificial sweeteners or anything other than whole milk, but their coffee is excellent and well worth the additional 100 calories. They DO have raw sugar cubes to sweeten your drink if you want (and I always do).
They also open as early as Starbucks chains so this is an excellent alternative if you prefer local, welcoming, quiet mornings to get your caffeine fix.
Highly recommend, y’all.

Davis Street Espresso is located in a great neighborhood of Dallas. They have parking around back and street parking in the front which makes it a breeze to drop in. There is plenty of seating inside and outside.
The service here is a bit pretentious or maybe it was just the barista I encountered. He wasn’t helpful and quite frankly, he came off as a coffee snob.
The coffee did not impress me one bit. It tasted burnt to the point where I didn’t even bother finishing it. A hot latte with its latte art will cost you $ 5.
Pretentious barista and overpriced, bad coffee… No thanks.
