Spinster was small but had a great selection of used and new vinyl and a ton of 45s! The staff was very nice. I will definitely be returning.

Spinster has game. Rows of vintage records took me on a backtrip remembering the magical smell of album art. An entire wall is covered with a 5 star old garage sale vinyl collection. My friend’s band played a live set here on a Friday night. They handed out free PBR and pitched my friend one of the super cool looking retro record players that run in the $ 250-$ 500 range. We stuck to the free stuff though there is enough affordable little trinkets like jewelry and books that makes it feel like a gift shop. If you like music swing by and peruse through the albums. You might find something from the past that beckons you.

Cute place. I stopped by yesterday for the first time to see a local band play and had a wonderful time browsing records and sipping beers. The feel of this place is fresh and cheery, and it’s organized well. A few records I saw felt a little pricey to me, but my friend and I found some gold in the $ 1 section. Records that line the walls are organized in recycled wine crates and the rest are displayed on wooden shelves. Little touches from the small corner stage to the exposed brick make it feel neighborly. The guy at the counter was friendly and funny as I paid on their iPad, and everyone was encouraging donations to the touring band. A nice experience all around.

After eating in the bishop arts district, we googled record stores just for fun and found this gem of a store. It’s a tiny store front, but is pretty big inside. The guy behind the cash register was incredibly knowledgeable about records, often chiming in when we were looking at stuff to tell us facts or ask questions about our setup and collection. At one point he heard my boyfriend saying he would get rid of some albums he had never listened to to make room for the ones he wanted to get, and the guy knew the whole discography of that person and spoke with us about why we should give them a shot before discarding them. It definitely added to the experience. There’s a big selection of sealed records, ranging from about $ 24-$ 34. They are reasonable and they are the same prices you’d find online for the same records(I checked). They also have an equally sized selection of «vintage» records, aka used records, that had some pretty awesome finds. It’s a far drive, but we’ll definitely be back again.

This place is great. Spinster has a well curated collection of records, new and used, that spans most popular genres. What it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. The prices are reasonable, definitely better than Good Records. The owner, Dave, is a a cool guy with a lot of knowledge and will impart his wisdom on vinyls and the vintage equipment he has for sale. It’s worth the trip to Oak Cliff to check this place out.

First, let me give the owner props for bringing this store front to Oak Cliff! The establishment fits in perfectly with the up and coming Bishop Arts scene. Thanks-we need more entrepreneurial spirit such as yours! As for the shop… well, it is a great looking store with a knowledgeable owner and friendly staff. I am always greeted warmly and never talked down to — even given my limited knowledge of vinyl and high-end sound systems. The selection– well, this is the only need for improvement, but I’m sure as the business matures and the owner sees what is in demand that this will dramatically improve. Price — VERY reasonable given that the profit margin cannot be that great on vinyl. The small selection of turntables and audio equipment are priced(all things considered) right. You wont find cheap junk here, but given the reason people are going back to vinyl– why would you want cheap? I would, however, like to see a larger selection of vintage audio components. In short, Dallas, much less Oak Cliff, needs MORE proprietors like this! Small business is the backbone of America and stores like this definitely need the communities support!
