in response to Kelly L. this doesn’t surprise me, this church is run by religious charlatans & money hustlers, They are very deceitful and greedy. The church associated with this store is a revolving door for a reason, if you do your due diligence the pastor has had several tax forfeitures on previous churches and music ministries. Also if you google pastor Clint Brown and Jeff Ferguson you can read a article on the Gay Christian Movement Watch that sheds some light on just how deceitful this religious organization is. I can almost bet the homeless see very little proceeds from this operation, just as you’re testifying you didn’t receive yours.

Upscale thrift is enough to love. They supplement with handmade local items, such as jewelry and purses, that are to die for. Prices are just a tad high, but are appropriate for the area and the items for sale. Given that everything sold here generates the proceeds to help the homeless, I’m not going to complain about pricing. The staff are always so friendly, bubbly, upbeat, and help me shop — but never in my face. Which is a feat, considering my only tiny complaint — the store is quite small and therefore stuffed to the gills. It can be hard to see the trees for the forest, so to speak. It is entirely volunteer based, and while they may not hit their«open» hours quite all the time, it could be for any number of reasons. I’m not going to judge, because these people are volunteers, and they have to not only keep the store open, but stocked, pick up stock, deliver goods for the homeless that their proceeds buy, etc.

Design on a Nickel is an upscale thrift shop in the Bishop Art District. They sell high end luxury items with 100% of the proceeds benefiting«Hope for the Homeless» — an organization that helps people transition out of homelessness. The store featured bold jewelry, unique furniture pieces, as well handbags — as many of which are new with tags. This is a great shop that gives visitors an excuse to shop for a cause.

I’d rate them on their store contents but at 11:45 on Monday they were still not open. Spoke to a local who was sitting on their doorstep(waiting for them to open); he told me that the person who opens up is chronically late opening up(their online and posted hours stated they opened at 11). As if sleeping in til 10am isn’t good enough, these guys can’t be bothered to keep the meager open hours they post. I’m positive they close promptly at the posted time. Sigh… how these guys can afford their rent when they’re turning away paying customers who want to get in and shop when they open up on the morning. This district needs a good Antique/Upcycled Products/Thrift shop with *normal* business hours. If I lived in the Dallas I’d invest in one there. You’d quickly corner the local market!

So this consignment store funds, literally 100% of their proceeds go to assist the homeless, whether it be to feed them or provide shelter. Staff are volunteers. So who couldn’t get behind that high level of non-profit return. My visit today is my 3rd in probably 6 months. The inventory changes quite a bit with incredibly trendy fabulous finds at happy can do prices. There were amazing amounts of women’s jewelry, purses, home décor, men’s fashion and so much more. Step inside and take a stroll around his smartly priced boutique. Your contributions make a positive impact in other’s lives. Qudos.

Great store, amazing concept, and wonderful deals. I just bought 8 absolutely stunning dining room chairs from here. Its so great to see new businesses popping up in the area, especially ones who support the community. The inventory changes so quickly so I find it best to stop in at least once a week to see what’s new. Proceeds go to helping the homeless!

What a great place and awesome idea. I must be into charity thrift because I always find my way. This is a tiny spot in Bishop Arts where money goes to a homeless charity. They have furniture, art, décor items and all kinds of donations. Some items are brand new and some are on consignment. Everyone who works here is a volunteer. Go… check it out!
