I was super excited to find a place that offers halal brisket and ordered the family pack for thanksgiving(brisket and chicken, 2 sides — corn on the cob and mac & cheese, rolls and barbecue sauce. Only special orders or catering orders are halal. Now i live 45 min away. thats how much I wanted halal barbecue! After i bring it home, i find the corn on the cob wasn’t fresh. it was frozen that they cooked, didn’t look appealing at all. And not only that, the rolls were missing from my order. i was really upset! I called and the manager is nice and said to come by and he would give them or another extra rolls. There is no way i am driving back that far just to pickup rolls. Brisket was a little on the dry side, chicken was good. I hate to give a poor review but I wasn’t happy with the corn and missing rolls, I won’t be ordering from here again.

Dickey’s has been around forever and when a business has longevity there must be a reason. Or, in this case, several reasons. First of all, the food is pretty darn good. The brisket is flavorful and moist. Given the renaissance of BBQ in Dallas it may or may not stand up to newer rising stars(you know who you are) but it is still worthy. They have a multitude of sides and a good selection of protein — beef, pork, fowl and sausages. One of the things that annoy me about some BBQ Joints is that they run often run out of meat which can be a bummer if it happens when you’re the next person in line. And, as sometimes happens, you may have to wait for hours just to get served. And at my advanced age that can be a crapshoot — add green banana joke here. So it’s nice to get your BBQ quickly and be on your way. It’s also good that they offer plenty of sides to choose from, parking is adequate, they have regular specials and there’s a soft serve(self serve) machine on site. One more thing — they have the Yellow Cup Club which sends you an email near your birthday and they give you free food. Free food.

Dickey’s is an awesome place to eat. The ribs and barbecue sauce is t DIEFOR. I think that everyone should go there more often and try the potato salad to. It might be the best potato salad I’ve ever had.

I agree with several people on here. The food is decent but the service sucks. People here are rude. Does management even READ these?

I don’t expect much from the food when I go to Dickey’s, but I do hope for a modicum of polite customer service. This place does not have that. I ordered a baked potato to go, which the guy at the counter unceremoniously placed in a styrofoam package. When I asked about all the customary fixings — sour cream, chives, cheese, etc. — the guy grunted and thumbed at the table by the drinks. I check out, go to the fixings bar, and I see there isn’t any cheese. I ask where it is, and they tell me, «Huh? Wha? Oh yeah, no cheese.» So they sold me an item on the menu knowing full well they were out of one of its most basic ingredients. I figured they might want to make reparations for their mistake, so I went back the cash register, where every employee ignored me until I gave up and left. Real nice, Dickey’s. Real nice.

The food was good but service was meh. They forgot my ranch dressing for my salad — had to go back and get it. Underwhelming to say the least, and a bit overpriced. Probably would just go somewhere else next time.

We were running errands on the east side of Dallas craving BBQ and decided to stop in. I would take back that decision if I could. As I went to order food I noticed all of the food was serve yourself cafeteria style. I’m not normally a fan of this type but I figured why not. Every item except the lettuce for the salad and the beans had flies on them! We were indoors. I understand the occasionally bug slipping though the door but lord have mercy there were 4 flies on the mashed potatoes alone! To my surprise the cooks were just standing there talking. At least attempt to hide the flies from us by swatting them away! Luckily the meat had just been cooked and they were bringing it out fresh as we ordered. I literally ordered a plate of pulled pork and tea. There was no way I was going to touch any of the food that had been sitting out as a meal for the flies. I will definitely never be returning to this place and I do not recommend it to anyone!

I had the Big sandwich at noon on Friday. It was not really any bigger than their old regular sized sandwich. Meat was dry so it required lots of sauce. The worst part of the visit was the ice cream; it was sugarized crystals — not really ice cream at all. I have eaten at other Dickey’s and this store is by far the worst.

What a Pit… har har. I was given a gift card to this cholesterol festival, so I didn’t have much choice. My friend and I went to kill some of the cash and I didn’t even know Dickey’s was a counter type of place. Move em in, move em out, rawhide is what I feel like. This place is seems a little in disarray and busted up. I’m so not overwhelmed by the food here, so what else can I say?

Can’t say much about this place except: Love it! Most Dickey’s are the same, this place has a little extra charm and a lot nicer staff than you might find in other locations, which I really think has to do with being in the Casa Linda/Lakewood area. Great food options, I’m very partial to their pulled pork in either one of their baked potatoes or one of their sandwiches. They lose a star because their sides are generally not that stellar, but they are a BBQ place and their meat rocks the house(TWSS). Love it, and I’m going to miss this location when I move!

I have no flippin clue which dickeys I visited, so picked one randomly. Buddy brought me for my last meal b4 heading back to los angeles. I ate: Ribs=were lukewarm at best, tasted ok with bbq sauce, which is good. Side cucumber salad=gross mashed potatoes au gratin or something=decent brisket smothered in bbq sauce-good but again sliced in front of me but not warm sausages, again good taste, too cold. Bottom line beats any area bbq-wise in l.a. because… well, we dont have any.

I don’t understand why so many people rag on Dickey’s. Every time I have gone it has been way above average. We usually get a family pack – 2 pounds of meat, rolls, 2 or 3 sides(I forget) and sauce. It feeds us for a week. The guys usually give us more than 2 pounds, more like 2.5. I get the brisket and sausage and have always been satisfied. The sauces are tasty. The sides are just ok, but who goes to a BBQ place for sides. And frankly, I can count on 1 or 2 fingers the number of BBQ places I have been to in my life where I said«these are really killer sides.» This place often sends out coupons(check you value pack in the mail) which makes this place an all-around good deal IMO.

I know that I have far better options for BBQ than Dickey’s, but for the proximity to my apartment they are my only choice. In fact, if I really want GOOD bbq I have to go quite out of my way. Since I hadn’t eaten breakfast or lunch yesterday I needed something close to home. When I walked in at about 5:35ish I noticed there were only two tables of patrons and not a soul in line. I had only been here once before and so I didn’t really know what I wanted. Their menu isn’t really very informative regarding their«special» items such as the Westerner. There are just randomly named items on the menu with no description of what it is or what it comes with. This really didn’t matter too much to me since I just wanted a platter. All of the meats were sitting under a heat lamp, and the sides which were out on display all looked EXTREMELY sad. The mac-n-cheese(which I was really craving) had a thick crust on the top and this instantly turned me off. It was like most of the sides had been sitting there for a few hours just getting germy. So I ordered the sides which looked fresh — dill potato salad, and fried okra. The okra actually was out so they had to make me a fresh batch. This meant I got WAY more than a normal single serving and it was cooked to my crispy request :) By the time I got home the food was a little cold but I was so hungry that it didn’t matter. I don’t know if it was my ravenous hunger or what but I thought the BBQ was pretty decent. The prices were a little steep though. $ 11 total for only 1 meat, 2 sides, and a roll. Drink is not included in the combo. So I drank almost a full glass of sweet tea while my okra was cooking so I could benefit from a free refill :) For a fast food bbq place I thought these prices were high, but I wasn’t about to go anywhere else. I may or may not come back here again… maybe later in the evening around dinner time hours when things may be fresher.

This would be my second time eating at a Dickey’s, I can say that the name is just as distasteful as the food! Don’t you love it when things correlate so well like this. Well, maybe that’s a bit too strong. The food isn’t bad, but it isn’t worth what I paid. This time I tried their hot link burger with potato and pasta salad as sides for about 7 bucks. It was decent at best. The burger’s hot links were ok and the bread was pretty good. The salad was decent and the potatoes were just meh. When you consider that other finer dining options usually have entrees for around $ 8, it just makes me sad that I wasted my money here.

I was craving a baked potato and stopped in in hopes that dickey’s offered them. Thank goodness they did. The people working were very friendly, I got the impression that they didn’t speak English, but they were still nice. My potato was tasty, no complaints. I will go back again when I’m craving a potato next time, for sure.

I know, I know. Dickey’s isn’t the best BBQ in Dallas. But it’s the best BBQ near my house. If there’s a better whole package, I have yet to find it. Here’s what I like about this particular Dickey’s(which is to say that not all of them are good — *cough*Mesquite*cough*): *Above and beyond service. The folks that run this store know a little about customer service and never fail to get me out the door — with a correct order — as quickly as possible. This is huge in my book. *Reliably good BBQ. I think I’ve tried just about every one of their meats and not one has ever been bad. No, this isn’t BBQ that you’ll have shipped to your cousin in NY just to prove how good Texas BBQ is, but it’s better than some of the other crap being passed off as BBQ in my part of town. *Awesome sides. What good is having good BBQ if the sides suck? Seriously, Dickey’s knows how to dish up some BBQ appropriate sides. Fried okra, baked beans, potato salad(they have both mustard & dill), cole slaw, macaroni & cheese. It’s all good. And don’t even get me started on their peach cobbler. Anyone seen my ass lately? Well, I have. And I blame it completely on Dickey’s peach cobbler. Dickey’s isn’t where I take my out of town friends for BBQ. Especially the ones from Kansas City who swear their BBQ can kick our BBQ’s ass. But it’s certainly our go-to BBQ when we’re just looking for a good chopped beef sandwich.
