Very good brisket! I would have liked to have known something about some of the other meats and wasn’t sure what to try. I didn’t get the«new customer» orientation, but will for sure be back to try other things. Service was friendly, but a little slow considering the amount of people working and there only being 2 customers.

The best brisket in town. Grab a pack to go as well! It heats up perfectly. My mouth is watering just thinking about that smoked brisket with that thin layer of rendered fat that melts in your mouth! They have good sandwiches too. The place is a little pricey but once you try it, you’d pay double to have it again. Damn this place is good!

Brisket is excellent! Pit master brought us out a pulled pork taco with habanero mango sauce. It was amazing! Get the two meat combo as these options & you won’t be disappointed. Have about 6 – 8 bar stools set up to eat there if you would like. Staff is also friendly! :)

Love the people who operate this place. Friendly, outgoing, and more than happy to walk you through the lineup of meats and sides. Went in with an open mind and just stopped and took it all in. Was a bit overwhelmed at the selection of meats and combos. The guy at the counter greeted us promptly and asked if we’ve been there before. After saying no, he quickly went to the back and got us a sample of the brisket, macaroni, and the chili that was just finished in the kitchen. We ended up deciding on the smoked pork shoulder which came in a cryovac bag, and the chili mac which came in a microwave safe container. He told us that we needed to put the pork bag in some boiling water for a few minutes to reheat it. Later that night, followed the guys instructions and served the meat. I was shocked at the lack of smoke flavor. The meat was well cooked, tender, and juicy but lacked any smokey smell or flavor. For a smokehouse I expected the smoke smell to hit me in the face once I opened the pork bag but was left disappointed. It was still a quality meal and the mac was pretty good with a really nice chili on top. Not very cheesy but was delicious.

i will give them that the meat is good. but the sides. meh. we brought a friend from out of town with the intention of sitting at the bar to eat. they asked if it was for here or to go. so they handed us to go packages to open up and eat. no fountain sodas or brewed teas. all single serving drinks that were barely cold in the cooler. when my husband asked for a cup of water after he finished his single serving glass bottle of tea. nope. no cups. so then he asked for the kid at the counter(who thought spare ribs came from a cow) to just fill up his tea bottle with tap water. lots of deer in the headlight looks from the people behind the counter. maaaaaybe don’t have a «for here» service if you don’t want to spring for ice, cups or plates…

Holy f… That was incredibly delicious and glorious. Was headed to the bakery next door when the smoking fire pit up front caught my eye(they dont cook in it so no worries) and decided to gonsee what the little apot was about. Man oh man do i feel lucky today. The brisket was ahmazing. juicy without being fatty and just felt apart. Someone else said but it bears repeatingn while their bbq sauce is damn good the meat doesnt need it. Im one to usually put sayce on my brisket. Their brisket chili was incredible too. Herman, one of the owners was there and gave me a little history on their biz. They’ve been opened about 9 months. Cant believe ive been driving by onnocassion for the past 2 months and never saw them. I guess the snoking pit helps catch your eye after all. Nice job guys. Thank you for making texas brisket proud!!!

The smoked Brisket Sandwich with Cheddar, a roasted poblano pepper, onions and pickles. sounds like a weird mix, but it was actually very good. Though not cheap, it was well worth the experience to my taste buds!

OUTSTANDINGMEATS, only OK sides. The brisket, chicken, and pulled pork are world class. Perfectly smoked, wonderfully seasoned. But the sides disappoint. They are only ok. Mac & cheese is runny and only ok. Cole slaw was just plain weird. Baked beans were pretty good. Potato salad is bland. As fantastic as their meats are, they really need to find better recipes for the sides.

Moist and juicy brisket sandwich didn’t even need the sauce. Can’t wait to go back and try the tacos. Sure beats standing in line at that«other place» in Deep Ellum. Will be back!

Unique place in the north Texas BBQ world. They seem to focus more on pepper seasoning than anything else, but that doesn’t make it bad. Rounding up from 3.5 to 4. Service and Atmosphere: In a small but clean strip-mall with their smoker out in the parking lot. Very friendly people running the counter. There’s only room for 5 or 6 people to sit down at a time along the window, so don’t bring a big group, and it’d be safer to assume that you’re getting your food to go(Flag pole park is a short drive if you need someplace nice to go sit). Food: Not sure what to make of some of the reviews — perhaps they’ve adjusted their menu. The brisket doesn’t come with sauce on it(thankfully). The three amigo’s found the brisket and ribs to be the best of the meats — both quite tender and juicy. Again, not smokey flavored like you might expect — instead, pepper seasoned. The sausage is very different, and we aren’t sure that’s a good thing ;-) The pulled pork was average. Nice touch is that since everything is prepped for carry out, everything automatically comes neatly wrapped, and then boxed.

Personally, I think their BBQ is alright, and better when it stands on its own. The smoker being outside in the front parking lot was a nice touch and a good way of getting attention from both the eyes and the nose that’s passing by on the road. The smoked brisket tasted a bit too lean to be called brisket. And also it was very peppery — which I did not mind, but it tastes unlike the other Texan-style briskets I’ve had in the state. The pulled pork was definitely the best thing I’ve had out of here though — flavorful and such — but try to get it on a plate instead of a sandwich. The BBQ sauce overwhelmed the flavor of the pulled pork and the breading of the buns were too much, and a little on the dry end. The cole slaw was alright, as it was a bit«wet» — perhaps it needs a higher ratio of egg into the mayo dressing? The smallish pulled pork sandwich(considering most of the size of the sandwich was contributed to the breading) and the 5 oz cole slaw came up to be about $ 9, before tax, which I thought was excessive. I think this place works better as a take-out, where you buy the vacuum-packed meats and prepare it at home. But I wouldn’t recommend driving to this place to eat in. ATMOSPHERE: meat-shop rather than café/counter-dining SERVICE: friendly PRICE: expensive for what it is

F***! This is delicious, flavorful(not overly salted), and the best barbecue that I have ever had in my life! I spent half the time eating, with my eyes closed. How do I say this… heed this delicious warning… DONOTEATTHEIRMEATSWITHBARBECUESAUCE!!! They are absitively posolutely AMAZING all-on-their-own. The sauce covers the beautiful clean flavors of their food preparation. Phenomenal? Mind-blowing? Euphoric? Stop reading and go there now. If you are still reading, they have REAL brioche as a standard and ciabatta as an option. That amazingly helpful guy at the counter took the time to answer all of my questions and tend to my demanding appetite. Not mad at a smiling helpful face; maybe because Adam just ate some barbecue without any barbecue sauce… and so should you.

The fiercely competitive barbecue scene in Dallas is stacked with regionally if not nationally acclaimed spots, and while I appreciated One90’s broad and unique menu, my experience wasn’t quite to the point where I’d place them in the Dallas barbecue royal court: [King — Pecan Lodge]: [Queen — Smoke]: [Jack — Slow Bone]: Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? ONE90 first and foremost makes their dollar selling large quantities of tasty meats, and that’s reflected by the small storefront with seating for maybe five at the bar area. That being the case, I was pretty blown away by the attentive and friendly nature of the staff, who made sure that everything was in order while catering to what appeared to be a steady stream of locals coming in and out for take away orders for the evening. These are some nice folks who, if they weren’t part of it already, have become a part of this community. Well done. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Barbecue in Dallas and elsewhere is, well, a bit on the expensive side, but One90’s prices($ 20 for a pound of brisket for example) are in line with the competition in the area(Pecan Lodge also charges $ 20/pound). I opted for a Spicy Brisket Sandwich at $ 11.00, a Chicken Taco for $ 3.50, and a small side portion of Mac n Cheese for $ 3.00. Considering the size of these dishes(pics below), prices were fair, and I left having eaten a far too large quantity of food for a very reasonable $ 17.50 plus tax and tip. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? We’ll start with the sandwich, which, while good, fell victim to some of the more common pitfalls of bbq sandwiches. As you might be able to tell from the picture, there was way too much bun here given the slightly smaller than expected portion of brisket, and the result was me simply removing the top bun from the equation. Crisis averted! From there, my biggest gripe was that the brisket seemed to be lacking any notable crust, which is, in my opinion, the golden trait with which all brisket should be judged. That’s not to say this brisket wasn’t flavorful — it was, but it wasn’t to the degree that you find at Pecan Lodge, Lockhart Smokehouse, etc where the crust is a full 2+ cm thick. I loved the fact that One90 had tacos on the menu(all bbq joints should as they’re often far superior to simple sandwiches), but my Chicken taco was a tad bit weak. The shell was pretty greasy, and the chicken lacked any real flavor of its own, relying instead on the jalapenos(kudos for them being freshly chopped) and ranch for flavor. The mac and cheese was the real disappointment here, as it wasn’t as cheesy as I would have preferred and was really short on flavor. All in all this wasn’t a bad experience by any stretch, but these dishes didn’t quite compete with some of the other options in town. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? I was very genuinely impressed by the staff at One90, and the diversity of the menu has all the potential in the world to really shine, but I’d encourage the owners to step on down to Pecan Lodge, or Smoke or Slow Bone, have a good portion of the brisket and mac n cheese, and compare and contrast a bit. I wouldn’t yet put One90 on the same plateau as the big boys, but that’s not to say I won’t return to see how they evolve. No Star Granted.

Comparatively, I have found much better BBQ places in the DFW area. Upon coming here, it was to my surprise that you could actually buy vacuum sealed meat and bring it with you back home. I found that to be pretty cool. Anyway, I had ordered the Spicy Brisket sandwich and banana pudding. The guy at the register was kind enough to give me a sample of the pulled pork and the brisket. To me, they were both pretty average. The brisket I felt was a little rare for some reason? I’m not sure how that is possible, but, there was just something off about it compared to other briskets I’ve ordered before. Upon eating my food, the Spicy Brisket sandwich came out to be satisfying. It definitely lasted me throughout the entire day without eating another meal. The banana pudding, on the other hand was not what I expected. It seemed as if it was following a generic recipe that I’ve received at other places. Overall, it’s a cool little concept: having a market with vacuum sealed meat, and also a mini restaurant. Would I come back to bring someone from out of state here for BBQ? Unfortunately, no.

I could go 4.5 for this place but not 5 because seating is so limited. There are 5 seats I think so if someone is waiting for their take-out order and sits, the seating opportunity takes a hit. That said, my brisket sandwich was excellent. The meat was tender, smoky, and flavorful. The portion was ample. The bun was excellent too. The take out menu, which is obviously the speciality here, looks enticing and I can’t wait to try some of their smoked meats at home. I think we have a winner here.

More like 3.5 stars. This place made it difficult for me to get a good idea as to how their BBQ is. They don’t have meat platters — only brisket sandwiches and sausage on the side. I guess I could have asked for ¼ lb servings. I’m not sure. The brisket, despite being hidden under sauce, pickles and onions, seemed not as tender and juicy as it could be. Granted I was here at 7pm, As for the sausage and mac and cheese, unfortunately it wasn’t memorable. Literally. I didn’t initially remember having a link of sausage and a side, but I do have a picture of the sausage. As for the sides, I remember the price scaling being off: 5oz @ $ 2 = $.40/oz 8oz @ $ 3.50, 16oz @ $ 7 = $.4375/oz 32oz @ $ 13(I think) = $.406/oz The staff was very nice and chatted with me for a while. They seem like good people with a good service — being able to reheat bbq at home via vacuum sealed bags. However, as a place to dine, I’d opt for some of the other BBQ joints instead.

I decided to peruse Unilocal today for any new place near my work and stumbled upon 190smoked. I figured I could hop on over the Haute Sweets afterwards for a quick dessert. I tried the brisket sandwich, because they don’t have meat plate combos yet. They really don’t skimp on the meat! It had thick slabs of brisket, which were nicely smoked, and deliciously tender. It also came with pickles, onions, and BBQ sauce. One of the best brisket sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. The side of potato salad was fairly good, but a little on the small side or maybe the small container made it appear that way. I’ll have to stop by a few more times to make a better assessment of all the other food! …I can’t write anymore. I’m about to slip into a food coma from the smoked brisket…

This is a surprise find, and so convenient to where I live and work. Essentially, it’s a deli-style counter/caterer buried in the middle of a strip mall along East NW Hwy between Buckner and Plano Rd. Blink and you’ll miss it. Counter service only selling sandwiches, BBQ by the pound and pre-packed meats. Public area is not even big enough to fit a single table, so this place is strictly for take-out. Ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad(sauce on the side), thinly sliced onions and house-made pickles standard. Without question, this is the single best BBQ sandwich I’ve ever had. I’m usually a plate-and-two-sides kind of guy but this could change me, at least here. Thick-cut slabs of brisket, tender and flavorful with a sizable smoke ring, on a brioche bun — that’s it. Add condiments as you like but the sweet, soft bun makes the sandwich with the flavor and texture of the beef, not even juicy enough to soak the bread but not dry at all. Sauce has a slight bite to it, good for a few dips. My only complaint would be the sides which, while decent on their own, seem skimpy for the price($ 2 for 4 oz, gone in a bite or two). No problem with the sandwich prices but the quantity for inexpensive sides like these should be at least twice what is offered.
