I really don’t see the draw to DISH. I wanted SO much more out of this. Prior to the opening of Zephyr down the street, it was the only trendy restaurant on the gay strip here in Dallas. But, everything is overpriced from food to drinks. And they aren’t even that good! The one fun experience we did have here was Drag Brunch — but that was even pricey.(I guess you pay for the ambiance?) I wouldn’t really recommend DISH.

Saturday afternoon with plenty of writing to do, my husband and I decided on DISH Cedar Springs for a happy hour work date. YES– happy hour on Saturday. Parking on the street was easy, with just a short walk to the yuppy apartment complex/business/restaurant complex. Boring on the outside/over the top on the inside, with a mixture of brick, glass, metal, stage curtains, and faux chandeliers. The bar is part indoors, part outdoors(always a favorite of mine), and we decided on the patio for this lovely day. There is ample seating, with many different seating choices. It was not busy, and we were well taken care of, In other words, we were never wanting for drinks. The food was exciting and flavorful. The truffle deviled eggs were solid in texture and flavor. It’s hard to reinvent the deviled egg by now. We know herb, we know truffle, we know bacon. DISH’s bring together the last two, a combination of truffle and bacon, with a little onion added for balance. Double onion, actually: «snipped» chives(is snipping sexier than chiffonading?) and a lovely pickled red onion piece. This pickled onion, along with the crispy bacon, improved on the typical chewiness of deviled eggs. My two issues with the dish were aesthetic. First, why is sprinkling paprika still a thing with deviled eggs? It adds no interesting flavor; it just looks like the red dirt of southern Alabama. Second, the deviled eggs sat upon a bed of minced hard-boiled eggs… why? I appreciate the re-use of extra or ugly deviled eggs, but this was an odd choice. Especially considering it looked like popcorn on first inspection(that would have been a fun surprise!). The second dish we had(blistered shisito peppers with red miso, sesame and parmesan) were fantastic. I’m always a sucker for blistered shisito peppers, but the addition of sesame oil and parmesan cheese was unexpected and tasty. These flavors, though seemingly incongruent, work so well together, adding a nuttiness and saltiness to these slightly bitter peppers. They’re addictive. I want more. Overall, DISH is an outstanding happy hour spot. It is going in our regular rotation.

I had my birthday brunch here and LOVED it! The service was impeccable, and the food looked and tasted delicious! For my birthday, our server gave our table glasses of champagne to toast with. We all enjoyed ordering the bucket of bubbles with carafes of OJ and cranberry juice to mix our own mimosa drinks as well. I will certainly be back for more delicious chilaquiles!

My boyfriend and I come to Dallas about once a month for business, and we eat at Dish Cedar Springs every single time we are in town. We found out about the restaurant because of the macaroni and cheese, and while my order varies every time it’s the only thing he will order. The service is always exceptional, and the food is worth every penny. I highly recommend the farmhouse salad(we share that every single time), and the lemon roasted chicken(which comes with the macaroni and cheese luckily.) The macaroni is easily top three best I’ve ever had. We will be back in town tomorrow and I’ve already made our reservation. Hopefully my review will sway you in their direction :)

I drag my patient wife all over DFW trying new places to eat. We tow our 1 ½ year old with us and livens up any restaurant she’s in. With all the places we’ve been able to try for breakfast/brunch DISH just chiseled out a slot at the very top. It was between here and bread winners and I’m not only glad that we chose DISH but I don’t think I’m ever going to need to step foot in Bread Winners again. I had the eggs Benedict which were rich and satisfying. My wife ordered the breakfast tacos and loved them even though she doesn’t like Mexican food. The baby had the brioche French toast and it was the best I’ve ever had, ever. Go here, eat brunch.

We started with the deviled eggs and lamb lollipops which were both delicious. I had the chicken and jalapeño macaroni which was so-so. My mother had cauliflower steak which was delicious. Service was good.

I loved the cocktails and the atmosphere of this place, but the food, overall, was underwhelming. I tried a bit of nearly everything when I came with a group of friends. I did like the plain hummus, but it was a small portion, and the pita bread was burned. I didn’t like the pasta because it lacked salt and flavor. I didn’t like the shrimp dish either for the same reasons.

Had the salmon. It was cooked perfectly and liked the crab stuffed avocado as well. Very pleased!

Had lunch with colleagues here. Waitress was new so could not answer any questions on the menu. A while after we ordered, she came back to say that the chilli soup(which she really talked up) was not available… apparently the chef gave her the wrong soup special? I had the beet salad which was one of the best I have had. Served in an odd little dish so difficult to eat out of. I had the lump crabcake for a main. Its just 1 crabcake that does not come with any sides so definitely not a main portion. Average crab cake. The food seemed hit and miss and we were unlucky with our waitress. I’d try the place again but the first experience was average ay best

I must say, this place was amazing! The crazy thing is, I never heard a lot of people talk about it before I went. My first visit was for brunch, one of my favorite meals. Our waiter was awesome, very social, recommended items to us, seeing a though it was our first time there. The starter, something I was craving heavily, the Steel Cut Oatmeal. Irish oats, berries and milk. It was perfect. I didn’t have to add anything but a splash of more milk. The best thing, the crystalized sugar on top, gave the oatmeal a sweet, crunchy, finish. The sweet and sour blackberries and raspberries, I liked surprisingly as well. It was such a hard decision to make, when it came to my entrée, but the crazy part is, my side was the STAR… my side of Southern Style Cheese Grits. I would say they’re at the top of my list of grits that I’ve had in my lifetime. They came in a piping hot, mini black, deep dish skillet. The right consistency, not to thin, but not too thick. Seasoned perfectly, not swimming in butter, but the cheese that was broiled on top, that I broke with my spoon when I dug in, oh it did it for me. My friend and I could not stop talking and raving about them at the table. I honestly could have had that and the oatmeal and my day would have been MADE! Overall, I was highly satisfied with DISH! Very happy with everything, I will be back for dinner next, I heard the pork chop is delicious!

I hosted an alumni Christmas dinner at DISH last night working with the event manager, Julie-Kim, and here are a few of my thoughts/experiences. 1. You have been amazing with your responses and helpfulness and I really appreciate it. You’re great! 2. The food tasted damn good! Everyone had cleaned plates and complimented the food. 3. We came on a good day to get the wine promotion and it went a long way. 4. Maurice and the waitstaff were perfect. They were quick, extremely helpful, attentive and did a wonderful job. 5. Everyone in our party mentioned wanting to check out the place and this gave them a chance to try it. They were all impressed with the décor, food and service. Great place that people must try!

Their Food is everything. Tried the rids, half chicken, deviled eggs, rooster sand which and jalapeño Mac n cheese(yes that stands alone) and all were delicious! The ribs fell apart, reminded me of brisket and the rooster which was just as good as a to chic fill a sandwich(crispy goodness). Can’t think of a downside at all! Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the gayberhood.

Went to their Drag Brunch! It was definitely an experience! The entertainment is wildly hilarious(probably not appropriate for minor children) and the food was wonderful! Three course brunch with coffee and the menu is set pricing for the Drag Brunch. Fun for a girls brunch or a hungover brunch after a wild weekend. Probably better to leave boring judgmental people at home.(You should do that anyway) Go have a great time and smile! Its all in good fun!

I have been back to DISH three more times now since my original review and each time is better than the last. When you think it cannot get any better — it does. The service is always spot on and even with a large group of 22 they killed it. The salmon is amazing, the scallops are delicious, the steak is great and the sides are to die for. There is nothing here that you can choose that isn’t flavor packed. The fried apple crisp .yum Serious, try this hidden treasure. Oh and the last Sunday of the month is drag brunch… so much fun!

Dish is hidden away in an apartment building in the middle of a bar district. It’s a little hard to find but worth the effort. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside. It is airy and comfortable with a dining room where it’s easy to hold a conversation. The menu is a little eclectic but there’s something for everyone. The deviled egg appetizers are very good although are probably not a difficult dish to make. As somebody who doesn’t usually like peppers, they were quite good. However the ones that aren’t charred completely are shockingly strong. In the entrees, the halibut was quite good and well presented. The small filet was cooked to perfection but looked lonely on the plate. The pork chop was excellent and the chutney that came with it was delicious also, but a little too sweet. Next time I would ask for it on the side and save it for dessert. But for me the real star was the baby portobello mushroom side dish. Hands down the best mushrooms I have ever tasted. I would like to order a big bowl of them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service is prompt and very friendly. As the evening goes on it gets much busier and while they want to flip the tables, they are subtle about it. Parking is mostly valet(remember to validate) although there is limited on street parking nearby and in an adjacent garage. The check came to about $ 40 per person without alcohol or dessert. Dish is a great local restaurant that is definitely worth a try.

Customer service can be the reason a place fails or flourishes. Add great customer service to an already great food selection, and you will definitely have a winner. DISH did this during our last visit, and they did it well. We were celebrating our Anniversary, so I wanted to go somewhere that we don’t normally frequent. She has been before, this was my first time. Even though it was the middle of the week, the dining room was very empty. Other than us, there were 2 other couples dining along with 3 or 4 people at the bar. The dimly lit dining area really makes this spot a great romantic destination. The nice sized bar area on one side, balanced by the open kitchen area on the other gives the diner a lot to take in visually during their meal. Our server was great. They knew in advance of our anniversary, so they left a hand written card on the table… nice touch! I asked about vegan options and he went to check with the chef. He said that he could make the cauliflower steak with oil instead of butter… I’ll take it! Our plates came out and I noticed that my salad had cheese on it. Our waiter quickly resolved the issue when I brought it to his attention… so professional and courteous, even the manager came over and apologized for the mistake, I couldn’t have asked for more. The cauliflower was definitely on point! A nice chunk of the veggie that is sauteed until it starts to caramelize and then topped with peppers and more veggies. Good stuff! My fiancé ordered the ribs that came out on top of potatoes, and topped with fried onion rings. She loved it! When we ended our meal, there was complementary champagne given to us to toast our occasion! This was my first time at DISH, but definitely won’t be my last. The staff alone would be worth going for, but the great food on top of that makes it a winner!

Drag brunch here is an experience. The entertainment is great, but I was not exactly thrilled with my experience. We were the last table to be seated and not until the show had already started. We were seated in a corner in the offset room, so we could barely even see. Unfortunately, none of the performers really spent time in that room either. We had some issues with the food and service as well. The waiter dropped an entire entrée all over my friend’s lap when he delivered our food, and weirdly enough that entrée wasn’t comped. All of the food tasted mediocre. The drinks were okay, but nothing special. I am glad I got to experience the drag brunch, but I don’t really have a desire to come back again.

Sunday brunch has been a recent thing going on for me and the wife, and we wanted to check out this place since it had great reviews. When I saw the opportunity to actually do a reservation, I immediately set it up so that we didn’t have to wait in line to get in and get seated. That being said, when we arrived to the restaurant, the wife and I loved the layout and the atmosphere that the restaurant created. Our only issue was that we showed up on time with reservation, while a couple before us, walked in without reservation literally about the same time we walked into the door. So, thinking that we had reservations, we would be able to get seated. That was not the case. The couple before us got seated and we ended up having to wait an additional 15 – 20 minutes. That did kind of got me ticked off a little, but nothing that a good bloody Mary couldn’t help… which by the way was very good. When we finally got to sit down, we had a fantastic waitress help us with our brunch. The wife got a scramble and I got the chicken and waffle. They were both delicious up until the point the wife had a large HAIR hanging right in the middle of that scramble. So of course she lost her appetite at that point. We just asked it to be taken away, but our waitress took the time to get the manager who apologized and graciously comped that portion of the meal. I guess it just was not a great day to come out to this location. But it was just so beautiful outside to not go. Overall, the experience was okay. I would have probably given it two star if it had not been for the the manager and our great waitress. Would I come back again… maybe because I still think Its a really beautiful restaurant, with a great vibe.

Definitely one of the better restaurant experiences I’ve had in Dallas. My occasion was special as it was for my bride’s and my rehearsal dinner. Thus, we had a very large party. Jennifer(the coordinator on site) and the rest of the staff(servers, etc.) were very warm and welcoming and provided top notch service. The food was VERY delicious. Although I’ve only been the once and had just one entrée(exquisite salmon), based on that I would imagine the rest of the menu to be great.

Another great dinner @ DISH. We started with the Ahi Tuna Ceviche, the calamari, and the Mushroom and Bleu Cheese Flatbread. All were delicious, but the Tuna was excellent. The combination of ginger and watermelon is wonderful. The calamari was lightly fried and flavorful. The flatbread is like a cracker crust pizza. A very nice, light, appetizer. For dinner we all thought the short ribs were great. Served over mashed potatoes. A hearty, down-home, meal. Get it! The scallops were also very good. Browned perfectly and they tasted great. The pork chop received mixed reviews at our table. Some said dry, others said under-cooked. All of the cocktails ordered were mixed perfectly. Great job from the bar tenders.

Maybe I came at the wrong time. Sunday brunch . The food left a lot to be desired .it wasn’t gross or inedible, however they definitely should consider a new brunch menu or a new chef! I had a short rib dish that tasted more like BBQ brisket, which is a carnal sin in my book because I take my short rib dishes very seriously… short rib is my favorite and I order it whenever it’s on a menu. However, it was a mistake here! The waitstaff was accommodating and attentive. I’m rarely in this area, but I suppose this place is worth another chance.

Came here with my girls. Enjoyed a bottle of MOET and chatted away as we do during our get together :) The waiter was very helpful and sweet enough to listen to all of our questions about the food and cocktails! Interiors bit dark but the upbeat lighting and design makes it very hip! Will come back for a second round!

Finally got a a chance to make it to a drag brunch show! I’ve always heard of it, but never had the opportunity until just recently. My partner and I made reservations for the early show at 10. Since it was the first show of the day, it wasn’t too packed and the crowd wasn’t too loud or crazy; as we stayed a bit after and saw the crowd for the 12:30 show, the crowd was a bit more typical of a brunch group and def more rowdy. For $ 30 we got a prefix option of entrees and desserts. The appetizer was a baked good assortment of different muffins. The muffins were alright, not the best but it did. For my entrée I went with the chicken and waffles, and my partner had the veggie omelette. The food came out quick, and we started to eat right as the show was starting. The waffles were decadent, nice and fluffy; oh so good. It was a nice sweetness and airy bite for the perfectly cooked juicy chicken. The food was a perfect accommodation to the hilarious show. For the prefix dessert I had some yogurt with granola, oh so good! The granola was so delicious and the mixed berries in it were so fresh. This was a great show and great food. I can’t wait for the next, I believe they do it either the 3rd or last Sunday of the month. They have 3 different time slots, 10; 12:30 and 2.

Took my BF here for his birthday dinner and who knew it was Dallas Restaurant Weeks? I made a reservation and the hostess sat us at very cramp section of the dinner room very close to other patrons. I didn’t really mind it but my boyfriend didn’t feel comfortable and we were able to switch tables with no judgement. Our waiter was fantastic. He made great suggestions with my boyfriend’s wine pairings for his food and a cocktail for me. He was very attentive from start to finish even opening the door for us as we left! Appetizers Deviled eggs were the BF’s choice and they were good but nothing special. Some crispy bacon gave a nice textural contrast. Lamb meatballs were surprisingly very good. I like the hummus being used as a sauce. Entrees SHORTRIBS. Just get it even if that’s all you order it’s worth it. It came out piping hot and falling apart… I didn’t even like short ribs that much until now. The BF’s roasted chicken was moist and had good flavor. The jalapeño mac and cheese was just okay though. Dessert They ran out of smores cheesecake that night and BF got the key lime as a substitute. It was still really good and the key lime wasn’t so strong or sour like I’ve had before. The salted caramel pudding was awesome! It reminded me of a sweeter version of crème brûlée. The bits of sea salt were not too overwhelming. Valet is complimentary so no need to find parking.

I usually don’t like fancy smancy restaurants, but Dish was pretty good. And to top it off, great service. Their menu changes so whatever pictures you drool over on Unilocal, you may not be able to order it later. I got the Dish Steak & Jalapeño mac and cheese. DELISH!!! I loved the calamari and crab dip appetizers as well. My sis got the pork rib and loved it. A fav was also the tuna/watermelon dish(forgot the name. I must say, service here was the best I’ve ever experienced in my entire life of eating out. Our waitress catered to the 11 of us(birthday dinner) quite well – always smiling, laughing at our corny jokes, etc. The only thing was our waters didn’t get filled as quickly. Birthday girl got several complimentary shots and dessert(even after we brought in our own cake). She even volunteered to be our camera person all night — so thoughtful and courteous of her! Although dishes average about $ 20+ per person, we all loved our dishes. Décor is nice. Valet is complimentary(don’t forget to get your card validated). Drinks are ok and decently priced.
